What's the source that iPhones check this json file every day at midnight? Is Apple trying to DDOS itself?

If the phones are only checking the server every 00:00, won't be much use for the majority of people if it's added now... :/

I had seen it somewhere. Oddly, when I was refreshing the JSON on safari, it wouldn't load at midnight. Guess it was wrong, sorry.

The JSON hasn't been updated yet anyway.

I'm betting 6am, a lot of shops near me open at 7am, surely they'd want it ready for then?

The newspapers have now published that it will be going live "tomorrow" (i.e. the next day) on 30 June and 13 July. Whoops!

Apple can probably push something to the phone which tells it to check the server again even if it isn't 00:00.

Nah. If they could do that then there'd be no point also making the phone automatically check daily.

Just tried with Santander and failed BUT I haven't received the automated email and text this time to tell me it's not worked...

I feel privileged to have already tried  pay now to be honest, the wait is a right pain in the arse.

If you want to know when the JSON is updated, use Followthatpage.com and you'll get an email. It can check 5 times every hour.

My Barclays one (which obviously won't be supported yet) says that. Sounds like you're getting less far than the rest of us. :/

This is probably good news and confirms a launch today. Bet Apple PR worked with them on this.

Checking once a day only thing doesn't make sense to me. What if your phone is off or without internet at that time? It probably checks when you open Passbook/Wallet, no?
