I was in Toronto earlier this year and used Apple Pay every where I went, 90% of places accepted it, I guess it wasn't avail for Canadians
Correct, none of the banks/credit cards support it yet.

I'm so glad Apple doesn't track people like Google does. That evil company tried to get too much info on people's purchases. They store your purchases on their servers. Crazy.
Meh, no use for Amex here... Wake me up when Apple pay comes to regular bank issued cards and debit cards...
Which is probably not anytime soon...
They're the reason it hasn't come out sooner. Some blame could go to apple too but mostly the banks. They won't accept the cut Apple wants for using Apple Pay
I don't understand why it's the banks' fault for not agreeing to give Apple a cut of their revenues. Would Apple give anyone any cut? No. Apple wants to double dip on both users and the service providers.
Are people more loyal to their banks or their iPhone?
Yes. It is way easier to switch phones than banks. Well, I suppose switching banks is easier in your twenties. But later in life once you have mortgages, payments of various types, retirement accounts, it would be a PITA to switch banks. Are people more loyal to their banks or their iPhone?
I'd have to assume it's a security issue. If a bank allows it, they are contacted through Apple Pay and everything is authenticated once and then stored on the secure element. It's not just like an early Google Wallet thing, where you can add a card and then use it wherever. The benefit with Apple Pay is security. It's just a bummer businesses and institutions are taking a while to embrace it.Can someone explain why Apple Pay can't just be a solution that works anywhere where contactless nfc payments are accepted other than wanting to be in control of the process? Not being snide or a "hater", asking seriously.

I heard something like $1 for every $100 spent. I've read some where that apple's cut into the processing fee was too much for the banks to deal with as it would cut into their profits

I'm not about to apply for another credit card plus not many retailers accept AMEX anyway. To me this is really a soft launch unless we get a surprise when the Canadian banks adopt Apple Pay and I'm looking at you TD Bank since you guys leaked out information not long ago!
Their banks for sure. I think you overestimate how normal consumers are entrenched to Apple's services. For most people the changing their bank accounts is a "serious" thing, whereas changing phone is just more simple.

Who really uses American Express in Canada ?
Even Costco has gone with MasterCard now
I'll welcome Apple Pay when it has both Visa and MasterCard.
If a customer wants something, it is the banks duty to deliver that or risk losing the customers that want it.
One of the original benefits of Apple Pay was that it also cut down on fraud so the credit card companies like MC and VISA could even increase their profit by using Apple Pay.I heard something like $1 for every $100 spent.
