Thanks MacRumors for finding the absolute worst picture for both women. Both of these women are beautiful, but those pictures made me cringe.

Remember, though, it's the actors (and sports players for that matter) that encourage people to pay for the entertainment.

The actors have a value that make money for someone, hence the large paycheck.

The grips, gaffer, etc., are replaceable by anyone with the skills.... in other words: no one buys a ticket or watches a show because of a certain person doing the lighting work.

Economics! Whoopee!

The problem is, less and less people can "pay for the entertainment". It can easily cost over $300 for a family of four to park and go watch a baseball or football game. Why are ticket prices so high? Could it be to pay the ridiculously high salaries?

I think it's because neither of these pics look photoshopped or airbrushed. The reality is, this is what they look like. ;)

I wish Apple had just stuck to making best-in-class software that runs on great hardware.

I have yet to hear a single person say, "You have to check out this awesome show on Apple Music!" (which sounds like a stupid thing to say, to begin with.) People have told me I have to check out a cool new show on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video more times than I can count, but I've never heard anyone get excited about an Apple-exclusive show. Maybe this will be the show that turns the tide, but I'm not optimistic.
Apple has barely started. Netflix didn’t start with Black Mirror. When Netflix started streaming, it seemed like a desperate move because its DVD by mail business was floundering.

Could be, but it's not really. NFL revenue sharing is approx 48% to players 52% to owners. There are different percentages paid for different things like League Media Revenue, Local Revenue, and NFL Ventures, but it balances out to about a 48/52 split. That visit to the ballpark falls under Local Revenue and the players split is approx 40/60.

The ticket prices are so high because the owners tend to get the lions share of that revenue. They get the lions share of all the revenue, but especially the Local.

In the not-too-distant past, people said about Apple, "They weren't first to the game; but they took their time, thought about how they could improve upon what the competition was doing, and then they brought something great to the market."

Now, some people are saying, "Oh, give Apple another couple of years and they'll really have something great." I'm not just talking about the TV shows, either. I'm talking about Siri, HomeKit, the Mac Pro (for those who haven't lost hope), and on, and on, and on.

How about more of the money go to production people? The ones designing and creating the costumes, designing and building the sets, the ones setting up the cameras and microphones? The workers that drive the production crews to and from the remotes sites? All of those people deserve the money. They are the ones that work while the actors sit and suck on nicotine sticks.

In the capitalistic world, you are paid based on the value of your work in the economy, which is influenced by how irreplaceable you are. It cost a lot to promote a girl to be a successful actor, there are a lot of interest groups behind her, she is a product and there are owners and investors behind her who do the business and sign the contracts. She is not replaceable as replacing her will have a large impact on the project. However, production crews are readily available and easily replaceable, there is no scarcity involved, thus they worth less in the economy.

While female actors deserve the same pay as a male actor, no actor deserves that kind of money. Lets get a little perspective. Actors don't really do not work that many hours or contribute that much to the product to deserve such high salaries compared to other employees working on the project. There are many people involved in the creation of a show/movie. Most of them work year round, many of them more than 60 hours a week. the majority of the production time, the actors are standing or sitting around waiting for the sets and camera work to be prepared.

Well, Tarkin and Leia were CGIed in Rogue One. Maybe that was a hint to the actors to milk it while they can. Some day those video game graphics at the movies will be good enough to fool us.

Those salaries aren't really that surprising considering that both women are well established stars. They're also not saying how many total episodes are being made. Plus, these tech company shows aren't being made within the same type of economic model as network TV. The value of the show may be based on different criteria.

Sure. Why see if the show is a hit before paying hit show salaries? That would make sense.

SOME people, including, me said that in the days that you remember as perfect. I said I'd rather wait for cut and paste, and apps, and turn by turn navigation on Apple's terms, than to switch to Android, or Symbian, or some other platform that already had those features. And I think it was worth the wait even when Apple had inauspicious beginnings.

Supply meets demand at the market-clearing price.

Remember when Netflix first announced splitting off the DVD service for streaming and the universe almost tore a hole in itself? (Hyperbole but you know what I'm saying.) House of Cards was really their first true "original" that was network/HBO quality. Until then it was Netflix for movies and reruns. The tide can turn on a single show. It basically saved them.

Cook seems intent on pissing away Apples’ cash pile. Steve must be spinning in his grave right now.

It’s insane to me that it’s normal for actors to make this kind of money. They’re already rich beyond our wildest dreams.
