Actually it is a pretty bad idea for hardware manufacturers and OS makers to restrict users from doing things. period. it's evil.

an iphone is not a service. it is a device. so are Macs, Ipads, and even Apple TV's. You can talk about companies being able to block things from their devices....

i'd say that is evil. wrong on about every level. A big restraint against their customers and device owners i would say.

You're confusing the apple iphone with apple services, they are two different things. This isn't an issue about what you can do with your physical phone but about a specific service and those that use the service. And no this isnt about being evil, apple's TOS was broken by infowars. You yourself agree to TOS when you join any site, even this one. If someone breaks macrumor's TOS and gets banned, are you suggesting that's evil?

You can still listen to all the garbage, hateful, made-up crap from Jones on your iPhone if you want to.
Name 1 thing that’s made up...I’ll wait

I see what you're saying, but it seems you're taking a lot of things out of context with zero sources cited to back you up.

You mean there are sources to back up 'pizzagate'?

And what does that make Jones who doesn't provide supporting evidence to his claims. I picked random stories that Jones has claimed, it's on him to back it up, not the rest of us to dispute it. Same goes for you, you're saying Im taking it out of context, ok back it up that Im taking it out of context.

I think you opened up a can of worms you're clearly not ready to address.

While at least he didn't have to wait long.

I wonder how long you'll have to wait?

I’m very ready to address the clear fact of freedom of speech. The point is, he’s just the first, now they’ve quieted him, they can set precedence and quiet others with unpopular/opposing opinions.
Are platforms such as Apple now controlling our freedom of expression, when they once were a place that gave people a voice?
Your original reply just sounds like parotting talking points that’ve been spread around from other media platforms. Infowars App was in the top 5, then moved quickly to number 1 in news apps. So say what you want and call names trying to make yourself feel better, but facts speak for themselves.
[doublepost=1545807279][/doublepost]
Bubbles argument is essentially "you need back up your statement that Jones is lying about claims he didn't back up".
Yet Jones has always backed up his statements because the majority of his show is just reviewing and highlighting news articles that have been written by other journalists. Many people just seem to be so overly educated to give someone a listen before spewing ignorance, nay plain stupidity.

None of the platforms violated the first amendment, let that be clear.

The question is whether they did the right thing by blocking him. In many other developed countries with high education standards, it would be very hard for someone like Alex Jones to get a lot of followers and traction, because most people would immediately realise he’s putting on a show, spreading lies, or is just plain crazy. Most would ignore him, let alone give him the opportunity to rise to the top 5 of NEWS apps. News!

But somehow, in the USA, that’s a reality. Combined with the current rise of mistrust in all forms of news media, I personally think it’s a good thing they have blocked him. Let Americans take a break from all the crazy for a while. Breath, relax, get some perspective and get your sh*t together. Find a way to trust some regular news media again, make a clear distinction between news and entertainment and watch some Netflix instead of a hate spewing guy. It might do your brain some good.

Your comment about freedom of speech has zero to do with what you quoted me on. My comment has zero to do with freedom of speech. You're deflecting because you can't backup and address what I did say.

Are platforms such as Apple now controlling our freedom of expression, when they once were a place that gave people a voice?

You need to learn what freedom of speech actually means cause you clearly lack the very basic understanding of it. The first amendment is about Gov infringing on one's right to speech. It has ZERO to do with a private organization and the services they provide. That's not an opinion, that's not parroting talking points or any other nonsense. Apple is not the gov, it's not a gov entity, it's a company that offers a private service that one agrees to their rules when they use that service. You can argue that Jones being cut off was unjustified if you want but ANY argument that it infringes on his freedom of speech is completely FALSE. The fact that you don't understand that shows a failure in the education system you went through. They failed to explain to you the very basic and fundamental understanding of the First Amendment of the Constitution and that should anger you. But luckily you have all the information at your finger tips. Let me help you get started...

https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/first_amendment

The First Amendment guarantees freedoms concerning religion, expression, assembly, and the right to petition. It forbids Congress from both promoting one religion over others and also restricting an individual’s religious practices. It guarantees freedom of expression by prohibiting Congress from restricting the press or the rights of individuals to speak freely. It also guarantees the right of citizens to assemble peaceably and to petition their government.

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Again this is about the Gov infringing on one's rights. It has ZERO to do with a private company restricting limits and rules on the private services they provide.

And yet you can't dispute anything if said. All you do is deflect and move the goal post to a new subject. The position of the app has zero to do with the conversation of freedom of speech, Jones's lies or anything else.

Yet Jones has always backed up his statements because the majority of his show is just reviewing and highlighting news articles that have been written by other journalists. Many people just seem to be so overly educated to give someone a listen before spewing ignorance, nay plain stupidity.

No his shows are ramblings of a mad man. Again you make a claim, this time it's that he backs up his statements and that puts the burden on your to back it up. We both know you cant of you would have provided support for the ones I pointed out above. You're not in a position to tell others they they are spewing ignorance when you don't even understand the first amendment.

I see what you're saying, but it seems you're taking a lot of things out of context with zero sources cited to back you up.

"Sandy Hook is a synthetic completely fake with actors, in my view, manufactured. I couldn’t believe it at first. I knew they had actors there, clearly, but I thought they killed some real kids. And it just shows how bold they are, that they clearly used actors. I mean they even ended up using photos of kids killed in mass shootings here in a fake mass shooting in Turkey -- so yeah, or Pakistan. The sky is now the limit."

Source

In what “context” is that statement not totally reprehensible?

Name 1 thing that’s made up...I’ll wait

Seems others have done the work for me...

When it comes to people like Jones, Hannity, Tucker Carlson, etc... what they do is present themselves as news people, then.. when they are backed into a corner... use the "I'm an entertainer" 'get out of jail free' card.

You cannot be serious when talking about Infowars and Alex Jones. If his only sin was "Newtown didn't happen", you would think people of any political leaning would cast this guy aside. Seriously?

So the best reply you have to everything I laid out is to post a single link that talks about a herbicide that's been in used since the 60s? Jones left that part out when he brought it up talking about the gay bomb. The actual study in question here regarding Atrazine has some counter views as well. That's how peer-review works, just because someone publishes a study does not equate that the material is fully accurate. And the claim by Hayes is that it doesn't make frogs gay, the study claims a percentage develop both male and female sex organs, not even remotely the same thing as turning frogs gay.

Now if Jones came out and made an argument about dangerous levels of atrazine contaminants in the water supply, he might come off a bit more sane but that lacks the dramatic effects he's known for and prob wouldn't be able to sell as many water filtration systems that he's peddling. Next time you watch his show, take notice of the products he advertises about proceeding the segments. You might actually start to see a trend where he presents an issue then advertises a way to counter that issue via some product he sells on his site.

I guess addressing the rest of the post was too much for you.

Oh hey, sorry I’ve been out living life and enjoying time with family for the Christmas holiday.
I guess you really get enjoyment out of being a keyboard warrior.
Have you ever listened to Jones’ show or just read other articles and hear about him indirectly, letting the media think for you?

Are you just going to ignore the Sandy Hook quote I posted? His claims that the shooting there was a staged false flag operation that involved actors was an unbelievably cruel thing to say and has helped to support unbelievably vile and hateful treatment of the parents who lost kids in that tragedy. His statements about Sandy Hook are indefensible.

Oh hey, sorry I’ve been out living life and enjoying time with family for the Christmas holiday.

And yet you still come here to check up on replies. It's clear that you can't address the points raised.

I work online so I get down time where I can surf around and put time in to discuss.

Shockingly people can develop opinions on topics such as Jones just be listening to him. We don't need outside sources and other alt views to still come to the conclusion that he is playing out a part and comes off nutty. I actually applaud him on the ability to play a character and that appeals to a big enough crowd that he can sustain a living off of. I think he's played said character long enough that it's gone to his head and made him a bit nutty as well. My opinion of him is based on him and not what others have to say. I get that might be hard for you to understand but that's really your problem not anyone elses.

There you have it folks. Watch Netflix instead of exploring any and all avenues of news sources. Apple has decided what is news and what is not. Crazy that people are okay with that.

Except Apple didn't cut him off because he provided an alt new source. Nor did Apple cutting him off prevent him presenting his stories. So no Apple has not decided what is or isn't news.
