Set "tap to click" in the preferences and you never actually "click" the Trackpad ever again. Two finger tap brings up contextual menu. 3 finger drag to drag windows around. None of these actually "click" anything.

I AM using tap to click. Clunky. Especially for the right click. For that I like to use the bottom right corner and unfortunately, The Jobs has decided that tapping a corner just isn't in the books.

Umm...pretty sweet setup, I guess.

Yeah, that's not mine. That setup would drive me nuts because the couch is too low compared to the table. I should not have to stretch to use my computer for any reason - thus my 27" iMac is on my coffee table - which is naturally the same height as my couch - as is the "Big Apple". When I'm using the trackpad or the mouse, I use it right on the cushion to my right (I mouse with my right hand). Works a treat except that the trackpad won't click clean because of the softness of the cushion. So usually I will use the trackpad if I'm doing something on the other side of the table.

If I end up moving to Seattle, I've decided to sell or trash all furniture except my media center - because it's too perfect and it was hard to find, and no store carries anything like it...had to buy it online - so I'll probably look into a better setup for my iMac at that time, wall mount or something. It's just too big to be sitting on a small table and I don't want to sit at a desk. Though since I bought Apple Remote Desktop I guess it doesn't really matter.

Then you're not using tap-to-click. With that you can bring up the right click just by using two finger tap. No "click" at all. No clunky bottom right corner non-sense. Two finger tap and BAM you have a right click.

And you think just simply tapping lightly on the pad with one finger to click is "clunky"? Hmmm. Then I guess a trackpad isn't for you. Maybe sell it on Craigslist or something because it doesn't seem you'll ever be happy with it and you'd rather complain instead of actually trying to use it.

But hey....good times, right? :D

I don't go for gimmicks. One finger this, two finger this, three finger this...

I compute two ways. Left click, right click. Whether tap or not doesn't matter. The bottom line is that it's clunky if you try to use the thing on a couch, which is why I prefer the Magic Mouse which works on pretty much any non-glass surface.

It's amazing how apple has never made a good mouse. All their mice have sucked majorly in one way or another. I guess their ego wouldn't let them have a basic two button mouse so they kept putting out crap like that puck mouse lol. I still can't see how anyone could use the magic mouse or the mighty mouse.

I do agree with this. Apple has always sucked in the mouse department. The puck mouse was horrible. For me, part of the fun of getting a new mac was running and grabbing the best Mac compatible Logitech mouse at the time.

When?

This rumor is turning one month old today.. Any indication when we can expect the updated MM? I'm holding off on buying one..

My god. Maybe you should get in your buggy and have the donkey drag you to your local telegraph office so you can return it.

I'd wait until after the PowerBook G5 comes out. Should be Tuesday!

The Magic Trackpad sucks. Apple's laptops have the best trackpads of any, but I still prefer a conventional mouse or Magic Mouse to using a trackpad. IMO this is a really bad decision, and I hope my Magic Mouse never breaks since you'll have to pay more than retail to get one off eBay or what not.

I find that they do have a purpose. A limited one. Like use in notebooks. Great idea, trackpads. Many people I know still use a mouse where ever possible though. I have a Wacom tablet, and it sits under 2 inches of reports and work to be done, unused. I did use the mouse once, when the Magic Mouse ran out of power, and I needed to reconnect it, and macOS wasn't playing well. And I forget ow much money was spent on it. And all it does is help me reconnect the mouse. *YIKES!!!*
