Exactly. Due to Tim Cook's mediocrity and laser-focused goal of giving customers as little as possible in order to maximize profits for shareholders, Apple has been reusing practcially the same design as the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. The current iPhone 16 should be called iPhone 11sssss, and the iPhone 16 Pro should be called iPhone 11sssss Pro. So in 2027, if Apple wanted to be more honest, they shouldn't use the names iPhone 19 and iPhone 19 Pro. Instead, they should be named iPhone 11ssssssss and iPhone 11ssssssss Pro.

Could this mean Apple plans to realize former design chief Jony Ive's dream of making an iPhone made entirely of a single plane of glass?

So glad that hack is gone. His sensibilities jumped the shark with iOS7, the butterfly keyboard, and reduced ports.

All glass phone.

Pfffffft.

Maybe a great idea for a guy who thinks life is a perpetual design contest. And who gets replacement phones with a cracked screen for “free” essentially.

Yeah, why not also glass shoes, belt buckles, and forks/spoons/knives.

Hopefully Apple is reading all these stories !!!!
With a hope and a prayer they'll come up with something good
features people want:
underscreen Face ID
transistorized buttons
iPhone Fold

Waiting to see what surprise Apple has in store for the 20th anniversary edition. Think Apple will skip iPhone 19 naming. Also it might be possible that the foldable iPhone might only be launched in 2027 along with the new Pro model which might be the iPhone 'Ultra' model.

I agree with the previous suggestion - NAME THEM BY YEAR - today's current iPhone is iPhone 2024; this September is iPhone 2025; and the theoretical folding iPhone will be iPhone Fold 2028 - just don't see it making the 20th anniversary.
The issue with the the year naming conversion is the devices are released towards the end of the year. So if people buy in the Sep - Dec window is relevant, but come January and it sounds like old news and remains so for the better part of the year. It’s a psychological thing and I can’t see them doing it, unless the release window changes (also unlikely).

Only thing is the timing of their announcements. With them being released 3/4 of the way through the year they’d maybe have to name them after the upcoming year, so 2026 this year.

Unless they changed their release cadence. I must say I *really* miss the summer iPhone launches :/
Ah sorry just repeated what you wrote as I hadn't seen this yet.

They will lock and bold your phone. Pay $1000 a month to unlock and get access to your own data. They will sell it as "We listened to the EU. This is by far the most secure and private device ever. It is amazing. You'll love it". And the new Siri: you can now ask anything. She will remain silent: not ever you will receive a bad answer. 0% failure. It's amazing. You will love it, it saves you tos of time and turn your hectic life a tranquil oasis. ".

Its wild how long they milk the industrial design of the devices these days.

When the 16e was announced that was end of them shipping the SE which was a very minor variation on the design language from the iPhone 6 from 2014.
