Apple Planning Completely Redesigned iPhone for Fall 2012 Launch?

*hint*
Iphone 5 will be release about 3 months after iOS6 beta is released.

Lets hope Apple published the beta in March/April so that they get back on time for WWDC release.
 
With a rounded or thin edge, rubber to grip is a good idea—not for signal but to make the thing not be a slippery bar of soap! I never dropped my caseless iPhone 3G, but I always feared I might. (The square sides of the 4/4S make that not a problem, although a rubber case is always the most grippable option.)
 
I kinda find this hard to believe. One of the strongest points of the current design is its extremely professional look. An aluminum back and a plastic or rubber bezel seems like it might cheapen the look.

Then again, I don't work for Apple and may very well be extremely off.

Hundreds of millions of iPhone 4/4S say your conventional thinking is wrong. I have had both and no shattered phones yet. And if/when it does finally happen, I'll replace the glass, no biggie.

I think people would be excited for an iPhone made out of beetle dung if it was redesigned. Oh please give me something different just for the sake of being different. How many different ways can you really change a phone? And aluminum? Yuck. Been there done that. Aluminum to plastic to glass back to aluminum? Not gonna happen. Look for stronger glass. Remember the liquid metal purchase? Unibody GLASS construction!
 
I would like a different design for the iPhone 5, but I have to say that the iPhone 4S does look pretty sexy as it is.

I think you're right in concept, but maybe execution will be a different matter.

It does sound a bit like this will be similar to a small iPad 2, like the included graphic, if this rumor is true.

The only thing I wonder about is how easily the aluminum backplate will scratch and if it will be too malleable or not.

Same here. I am shocked to hear they are working on the next iphone.

My analyst says the first part already showed up and they will be using the same home button as in the ipad 3, which saves a lot of money, so we should see a significant price drop in the next iphone.

If it's going to be anything like the iPod touch then I will be very disappointed. Those things scratch very easily

Tell us something we don't know BGR. It would be laughable if Apple kept the same iPhone design three years straight. We all know it will still sell, but a redesign is not news.

I guess its time for the "analysts" to start predictions.
 
Why does iPhone 5 be pushed back to Fall 2012?

I have been waiting for iPhone 5 with new design of bigger screen that was supposedly be released in the spring 2012 and NOW it is pushed back into Fall 2012. Why?

Last year I expected to see iPhone 5 released in the Fall 2011, but unfortunately iPhone 4s was released instead. Apple said that iPhone 5 will be released in the spring 2012. Now Apple just said that iPhone 5 is pushed back to Fall 2012! I am sick and tired to pushed and kept pushed back, and waited for it too LONG!!
 
If true, I love the design! Been wanting an aluminum back since the original. And now without the black cover, even better!
 
I'm not sure how many people will agree with me but I think replacing the delicate glass on the iPhone isn't the way to go. For me, the glass makes the iPhone feel futuristic and a hell lot sexier than other phones.I'm usually not too clumsy so I would never sacrifice more impact resistance for a more beautiful phone. But it's Apple and one thing they're good at is surprising everyone with revolutionary devices and I think if anyone can pull off an iPhone that looks like it was cut from my Macbook Pro and still look amazing, it would have to be Apple.

LOL! I hope thats sarcasm. You know Apple isn't coming to come out with a phone in October 2011, then turn around in June 2012 and release another one.

Summer 2012 - iTV / Macbooks
Fall 2012 - iPhone
