Until there are some"lost iPhone in bar" reports to Bay area PD, not going to worry about the new iPhone release date :)

Apple said that iPhone 5 will be released in the spring 2012. Now Apple just said that iPhone 5 is pushed back to Fall 2012!

Try again. Because Apple has said no such thing. They don't even acknowledge the existence of the iPhone 5. Just like they don't acknowledge at this point that there will be an iPad 3 or that they are working on a new Apple TV black box much less a full tv

Steve Jobs?

If this is almost a year off does this mean it is a post Steve Jobs era device? How long is the development pipeline at Apple?

For me, the glass makes the iPhone feel futuristic and a hell lot sexier than other phones.I

If you are looking for futuristic and sexy then you will love the iPhone 7. THAT's when the redesign is going to launch, not this year.

And the 7 is hella futuristic and sexy. It's a watch. kind of like the nano but the band is built in. And then you have these glasses that have the speakers and the mike in the ear pieces to go with the HUD.

Even better is the 8. That's the one where they are going to ditch the watch and the glasses are the whole thing.

But the 9. That is the really awesome one. THey will embed the speaker in your ear, the mike in your lip and visual transmitters on your temples that will shot the HUD into the air in front of you AND detect when you move your hands so you can just wave them, type etc right in the air.

Now ain't that sexy

We don't know but it is tech so likely more than a year. I'd say that we'd have to wait a good ten years after his death to see anything that Steve didn't touch some part of.

The 4S, although yes it sold well, was really a very boring update, no?

Most folks would rather spend the $400+ on something else than buy a new iPhone every year so no, the 4s wasn't boring because it was a big jump from the 3gs they were using.

Apple Planning Completely Redesigned iPhone for Fall 2012 Launch?

What a SHOCKING headline!

I think I've seen this movie before.

Isn't this the one where someone mocks up what they think a new iThing might look like and posts them on the internet, and before you know it the case manufacturers in China have blown a small fortune making moulds for cases to fit a phone that never existed and never will?

Sorry, but unless there's another leaked prototype (as with the iPhone 4) there's really no point to these kinds of stories.

Meh at aluminium back, never liked it on the ipad, never will...remember when the leaks of the ipad 2 was released and people thought there was no way apple would make something that ugly!!

I'm pretty sure that was the iPhone 4, as the ipad 2 isn't much different from the first design.

I for one would.love an aluminum back like the first iPhone. Combined with a rubber like edge it should be the most durable iPhone yet.

I love the way some folks complain about Apple rumors stories, yet frequently post here on macRUMORS.com. I guess they have figured out that's the point?

Agreed 100%.

The 4S, although yes it sold well, was really a very boring update, no? Seemed more like a stopgap until 5 was ready. Same as 3GS. A big snooze fest all around. We have grown to expect a bit more "wow" factor from Apple than this. Hope they don't let us down this time.

The 3GS was not a stop gap. The 3GS was a massive upgrade over the 3G, which was literally a first generation iPhone with 3G.

Anyway, the problem is that if a brand new form factor isn't released, they think that the phone isn't new.

A new design with identical features, and nowhere near as many people would complain.

As for display size, Apple would either introduce fragmentation into the platform with a different resolution, or disappoint users with a lower pixel density by keeping the resolution the same.

I like MacRumors.

I don't like it when they literally post what a 10-year-old child could figure out, like this, or junk about the iPad 3 home button when it's identical to the iPad 2 home button.

I kinda find this hard to believe. One of the strongest points of the current design is its extremely professional look. An aluminum back and a plastic or rubber bezel seems like it might cheapen the look.

Then again, I don't work for Apple and may very well be extremely off.

How professional does a scratched up piece of rear glass look? Because that's what the iPhone 4 / 4s looks like if you don't keep it in a case 24/7. It would've been nice if the back glass, the glass that actually makes contact with surfaces like desks, restaurant tabletops, etc, had the scratch proof glass of the front. Idiotic design. And the fact that every iPhone might as well be covered in oil, because that's how slippery they are is pretty lame as well. Phones used to be made of grippy plastic. Had the iPhone 4 had a grippy outer edge and scratch proof back as well as front, there would be no reason to put in a case, except dropping it. In which case now the screen AND back can shatter. I like the looks of the iPhone 4, but the design really is horrendous. It's heavy as hell too.

a redesign is a guarantee.

i like the idea of a rubber bezel, it will add more grip to the phone.

i wanna see matte black on the next iPhone, like the iPhone 3GS leaked picture:

I would've bought 5 of those 3GS' if they had launched with that case!!!

Heard this all before....happy waiting guys! Enjoy what you have now, this cat and mouse game is getting tiring!

Hope this is true! Really hope it's a redesign.

nonsense.

Apple is going to milk the iphone 4 design for another year.

They will throw in a 4G radio, and call it the "4GS".

See what I did there?

Look at the "first generation" sequence:
iphone->3G->3GS.

And the "second generation":
iphone 4->4S->4GS

Why change the form factor? People will fall over themselves for the speed upgrade. No need for Apple to spend the cash on a form factor change.

I wasn't sure I wanted to upgrade from my 4 to 4S but I dot regret it. Whenever I use a friends iPhone 4 I realise how much faster my 4S is. And I got a white 4S to help justify upgrading from my black iPhone 4

I feel the current iPhones' (4 and 4S) form factor are the most beautiful pieces of equipment I have ever seen.

Any change, especially as pictured, would be a major come down in terms of visual esthetics.

So much for uninformed, premature, and idle speculation.:D

Agreed.

If they would have slapped the new chip, camera and Siri in a different case and called it iPhone 5, people would have flipped their ***** and gone bananas for it.

Stick the new hardware in the same old case, call it 4S and everyone said, "Lame."

Keep your keys and your phone in different pockets.

I go naked with my 4S about 95% of the time and it only has a couple, very small, very thin scratches on the back.

With all due respect, iPhone 4s sales numbers and Apple's stock price post-launch suggest that people did flip their lids and go bananas for it, despite what they might post on an Internet forum. :)
