Apple … getting to be a popular brand. More products to create, more options for consumers. The company just gets bigger and bigger each day.

Shaw Capital Management Warning

:D:rolleyes::cool::p;):eek::(:):confused::eek:

I recall that when Apple was at its lowest point, there were a lot of Apple products to choose from too. When Steve Jobs returned Macs were consolidated to four product lines: consumer desktop (iMac), workstation (PowerMac G3 & G4), consumer laptop (iBook) and pro laptop (PowerBook/MacBook). Now, when you consider all the various Macs and iPods, Apple are back to offering too many products and losing some of that early 2000's focus and simplicity.

Why not just a 'Mac'?

Budget version of the Mac Pro Desktop, with easily upgradeable internals, to be hooked up to any external screen

Would make a huge difference to market share.

That is kind of what the Mac Mini is lol

Would really love to see a mid range tower. Probably won't happen, but it would be cool!

Just make the Mac Pro more powerful, so only 8, 12, 16 core models, then make the new desktop have a quad-core and a six-core. It could be roughly the same size as a Mac Pro, maybe a bit thinner and shorter, have only one dvd drive.

Waiting for someone to reply to my post about how I am an idiot for wanting this to happen, because it somehow bothers them and they need to take the time out of their day just to say I am an idiot

Too many cores. Just buy the low-end Mac Pro or the high-end Mac Mini. With a Thunderbolt expansion chassis like this you can expand it to your heart's content.

Is it possible to make a laptop work with no hard drive and just RAM? Everything would be stored on iCloud.

this thread is awesome!

you all keep thinking about PC's..... why? they are dead.
if you're a gamer, buy a console
if you're a dev, buy a 'server' (by server i mean quad core)
if you just want to check your email, chat, all that lame stuff, buy an iPad/iPhone

think about it.i find it quite obvious, but i'm always about 5 years ahead of apple, so maybe they are just doing the TV rubbish.

iCloud is just a sync service, so no. There is no OS on iCloud.

Theoretically it could be possible, if you want your system to run really slow and chew up gobs of bandwidth.

I'm not sure what an SD card has to do with iCloud, but that article is only talking about emergency backup and troubleshooting. Running your system off an SD card would be s-l-o-w. And I'm not sure how many read-write operations they are designed for, so it's probably just not a good idea.
