what a buggy piece of crap it is. Apps crash ALL the time now and the UI is awful. Why is it I deactivate notifications, they automatically get turned back on when an app updates itself? Why can't I go directly to the related notification/message from the lock screen? Don't even get me started on how annoyingly "broken" iTunes is now (Song information/screenshot is always 2 songs behind when it wakes from sleep, sometimes skips tracks even though the lock screen is on, etc.)....

At least you will get Apple's "Windows 7" for free very soon.

i have iPhone 4 with latest iOS7.
yet to have any crash (OS or App) :|
and i use my iPhone for atleast 3 hours daily (youtube, remote desktop to my machines, fb and lots of online gaming) maybe more.
Infact iOS7 is more stable than iOS6, but that's just me.

I know this is getting old folks, but come on, you can't deny that Steve wouldn't have let this problem persist for that long.

@topic:
Wow, good to hear! How about the other problems that are not bugs, but idiotic by design? Stuff like that would need confirmation of being worked on.
This, well, I sure expected this bug to go the way of the dodo sometime.

Glassed Silver:mac

Yeah, I don't know. I'd like to agree with you, though I rarely pull the "if Steve were here" thing.

I've been a huge iPhone fan since January 9th, 2007. It's clearly changed my life. And I'm sure iOS 8 will be a nice improvement, but iOS 7 is pretty disappointing to me. So was iOS 6.

I have a 5s, but I've ordered a Moto X to try, as I've been flirting with Android since 2009. I have no idea what I'll do in the end, but it's worth a shot. Because as of right now, I don't enjoy using my phone like I enjoy using my Mac. I'd like to change that.

?

"Occasional"? If up to 3 times a day is occasional, I'd like to see what an frequent issue is like. Oh wait, safari. That crashes in iOS 7 more than my phone does.

Actually, it's nice of them to fix these serious bugs... like 6 months after the fact

iOS8 is coming out soon, can't wait for more uninspired design choices and new bugs...

Each iOS version before 7 had its own share of bugs. Each Android and Windows Phone version has bugs.

Bug free software does not exist. What's your point?

Don't forget iMap email is still broken, when will we get a fix?

Way to take something way out of context to make a post with no value.

Anyway, back on topic, I have only had one crash so far on the home screen. No idea what caused it because I was back up and problem free in 30 seconds.

Seems to happen more on my iPad 3 than my 4s, I see more crashes with the App Store.

Not to forget iMap email still takes forever to start to download mail and never updates in the back ground. My surface doesn't have this problem. OSX has some of the same issues on my iMac.

With all the money apple has you would think they could get this right?

Am I the only one with this issue?

I have to agree this is the buggiest one yet not to mention the worst looking one. I like the UI changes though.

I might be really lucky cause I have no crashes on either iPad 4, iPhone 5S and iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 is really slow though at times. It seems random.

Same... sounds like they're inventing a problem in order to patch JB'ers out of it.

I have a new iPhone 4s which came with iOS 7.0.4 already installed. After two weeks I have yet to see any reboot or crash. Safari also doesn't crash.

I guess this issue happens only if you updated your device instead of doing clean install?

I think the problem is the overall bad experience with the new os, I mean, small bugs, slugginesh, and this is just the time to make a big general fix. They have also problems deciding what to do with UI (see the frequent changes in colors, icons/buttons etc). That's never happened with previews ios.

I have an iphone 4 (clean install) and it became just irritating, besides I found it smooth after the beta, I was wrong. I know it's an old device, but c'mon, even with all the effects disable is f slow.

I loved the iPad Air but the constant Safari crashes have really taken the shine of the product for me. I mean, browsing the web is the most basic of tasks and it cant seem to manage it very effectively.

I REALLY hope its an iOS7/64-Bit issue that can be fixed via software, but sadly Im guessing its more likely to be the lack of ram :/

Maybe both, I don't know, but for sure is a bad management of the memory.
Just look at how often the apps are refreshing -if not crashing- (i.e. safari/chrome, even the music app doesn't remember where you were browsing) and how long it takes to resume the state from the 'task manager'. I'd never experienced problems like this before.

In my experience (I have an iPad Air and iPhone 4s) the soft reboot happens only to my iPad. Usually when it seems to stutter a bit or run low on memory.

My old trusty iPhone 4s may be slower at times, but has never done this. It's even hardly crash on Safari.

I guess it's the 64bit part? More bit = more problem, i guess?

Funny, my situation was the exact opposite. Frequent low memory errors on my 4s but none on my roommate's iPad. I would have Safari refreshing pages when switching between tabs constantly enough that I got in the habit of copying any text I was typing for fear that it would get erased when I switch tabs. I spent a good 8 hours trying to fix it coming to the conclusion that the RAM was going bad, did what little diagnostics I could through my Mac and ended up restarting it at some point and the problem completely went away.

Which makes even less sense because I had restarted it several times before in the past in hopes that it would have fixed the problem. Just one more? I guess...

I find it annoying that iOS7 was released half cooked and for devices that were unable to run it properly like iPhone4. Apple pushed 64bit processors out before the 64bit OS was ready and with the benefit of hindsight that was a bad move. The migration has been mismanaged and for that the Apple management have to take the blame. What's needed now is a solid 7.1 release to pull this out of the fire and restore some confidence. While most of the argument has surrounded the UI design it is clear that there have been far deeper problems than looks with 7 and they need to get the core solid first then look at refining the UI which although is inconsistent represents a reasonable start at providing a fresh look going forward. Many people see this a Jony Ive's fault but I think we have to remember that he took over the job of over seeing UI design late in the development cycle and was obviously under pressure to provide a radical departure from the tired old look and feel. This has lead to a less than polished look which could be excused if it was all that was wrong. I see this not being anywhere near solved until iOS8 by which time the UI designers should have had time for enough rework to provide a consistent and better thought though user experience. Remember Jony Ive is not actually designing the UI he is just managing the designers that are. So to try and excuse the current mess by suggesting Ive isn't a UI designer is simply finger pointing. Far deeper problems were the cause of this and the management restructure where Forstall got the boot is evidence of this. I would say we need to see how things pan out once it all calms down to see if these management problems have been solved. For this reason I think iPhone6 and iOS8 will be the ones to watch.

I don't consider running a 4 year old phone compared to a 5s to be the same. Just the the difference in screen resolution and cpu architecture could cause problems . No one here is going back to that ancient beast. How about Apple fix the problems with it's current devices. It obvious that they got the iphone 4 figured out.

Sweet. Good to hear an acknowledgement of the problem. I get restrings on daily bases on my iAir. Did get a new iPad which is amazing, I give them that. Was suggested a clean install but with the inconvenience of setting everything up again and uncertainty about benefits not convinced.

I find iOS 7 to be skittish.

Some people report major problems, others have few, and I've seen inconsistent crashes on several integral programs. Safari is such a mixed bag, with some sites causing auto-crash while most others have no problem.

I'm surprised Apple rushed 7 out. What will 8 be like? Perhaps we'll have machine language flashing all over the screens.

Probably the same look, as for previews os, no major changes in appearance for years, but some fix and small changes here and there. Other than that just some improvements and new functions, of course related to the new phones/ipads.

I hope they focus more on productivity, like a better file management system and selective backup.

I'm not sure if this is an iOS or an iTunes issue but I wish they would fix the syncing issues with ios devices and itunes! My phone's music library has been wiped clean and my ipad has gaping issues where I have ghost songs. It's such a pain in the ass to deal with and I've looked all over for a solution and nothing has worked. I'm pissed because I have no portable music. ahhh!

Have you tried this? https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1677562/

Solved the problem for me (used PhoneView app to access the phone)

I haven't seen it on my iPhone 5, but on my iPad mini retina a few times.
I always thought it's due to the 64bit architecture.

jezus.... about time Apple!

It's VERY annoying when typing on a very expensive brand new iPad Air a comment and suddenly be confronted with a black screen and an Apple logo. After the restart all that has been written is gone....

To be save for these frequently bugs I write a comment using mail app and save it as draft frequently so when that restart occurs I still have it...

Can't wait for this update... hurry up Apple.
