Apple is still selling via Walmart new M1 macbooks for $650. Been going on since they stopped selling on Apple.comYou can get refurbished ones starting at $709 - or $759 for last year’s M3 Air - from Apple (in 16GB RAM configs).
Not really. I beg to differ. For the same price as Amazon or BB as a new Mac on sale, you get a refurbished model from Apple. Unless you have Apple Cards or credit, always buy from a discounted source for brand new would be my recommendation.I get that Apple‘s refurbished store is under-appreciated or a secret for many.
But they already have much better value MacBooks in the Refurb Store today.
Apple wants to bring 8GB of RAM back to Macs 😂The A18 has the single core power basically of the M4 so this is more than enough for most people. The multi core being on par with M1 is equally enough, plus this does modern Apple intelligence etc…
Curious about the RAM however, as this is 8gb.
I think having an M over an A chip is what adds to the cost. For a low-cost option, I wish they could just bring back the 12" Macbook model, and stick in an M2 or M3 chip in?
Given the price of MBA I'd prefer they keep its price and gave it at least one of every port MBP has, to make both compatible. iPad covers the lower end with several small screen sizes. There should be a 13" MBA, not a lower end model, a full and capable machine with the same chips as the bigger model. The bigger MBA is the wrong size, it should be a mid size around 14.5" (to complement the 13" nicely) and MBP mid size should be that same 14.5".This is actually a decent idea.
That’s a fair point but with pro iPhones you have your OLED display, three high end back cameras and a high end front camera (when compared to the average webcam), studio qluality mics, Wi-Fi 7, 5G etc.they going to call it helium, lighter than air?
MacBook airs are the same price as iPhone 16 pros so the chip doesn't matter. So this is non pro or SE level then with a previous gen chip.
They can differentiate the product with a colorful plastic shell and a cute name. For product differentiation, this should be 12”.
Like the ASUS PADFONE! HehehHow about just make it so an iPhone can plug into a monitor and you can then use a full Mac OS.
Sure, Tim can arrange that, the new iPhone will cost $5,000. Consider it done. How about just make it so an iPhone can plug into a monitor and you can then use a full Mac OS.
Displays are measured diagonally without the bezels. The 12 inch iBook had a 12 inch display, not a 9 inch. They can differentiate the product with a colorful plastic shell and a cute name.
Take a look at the fat bezels on the old iBook 12”, the screen is like 9” diagonally. A modern 13” is bigger than the 15” screens of the past because it will go closer to the edges.
I don't doubt it. It would be worth it though because we would be saving even more of the planet while we use something already powerful enough to run Mac OS for 90% of the people on the planet.Sure, Tim can arrange that, the new iPhone will cost $5,000. Consider it done.
Just get a UPS…Mac mini with an internal battery option would be better. Currently its the only thing keeping me away from buying one for my home server. It would be great for protection against electric outages. Old laptop that im using for home server right now wins this versus..
I used one for years, and it was not as underpowered for daily tasks as the blogosphere would have you believe. The keyboard was the real stinker.Yaaaas! I really wanted a small, thin, everyday Mac! Really liked the 12-inch MacBook at the time, shame it was underpowered. Never got to try one.
