It will probably be 16 64 128 like iPhones. "Entry" :D price and Apple Tax for regular and large models. Like beverages in fast-food:rolleyes:

Got some new gold iPad and lovely rose gold apple watch

If you're okay with that, then, you might just be tacky, too

I'd rather have features that are useful, like being able to use a non AirPrint printer of my choice without workarounds, the ability to hook up with a portable hard-drive and expansion port.

"CEO Tim Cook previously said the iPad sales dip was a "speed bump"."

lol

They are running out of potential customers. Everybody and their dog already have iPad. Next major climb on sales will come with iPad with OSX.

Now, in the Cook era, it's fancy marketing with lots of color options.
Yes - offering _one_ more option (totalling three!) is really a lot more than the two options in Jobsian times...

Look, I can see that some people like different colors, and I don't begrudge that.
Your post sounds differently, though.

BUT, I AM TOTALLY RABID that Apple can't offer an anti-glare, non-mirror matte screen for MacBook Pros, Airs and iMacs like they used to.
Don't know about the iMac, but the Air's and Pro's have an optically coated screen for a couple of years now. This may not reduce reflections by 100%, but neither does a primitive matte screen. The latter only diffuses light sources more efficiently, but at the cost of colour brilliance and sharpness. Therefore etching ("matte") is usually considered the "cheap" anti-glare solution.

I'd take a (quality!) optically coated screen over a matte version any time!

And if you happen to wear glasses, imagine them with an etched anti-glare surface instead of optical coating... *brrr*

When I hear that Apple can offer fancy color varieties, but can't even offer an anti-glare screen on one Pro model, sorry, but anger rises up against Apple.
You may want to check your facts before you rant. The Pro models do have an anti-glare screen! Only that Apple opted for the higher quality solution with optical coating.

You can discuss the effectiveness of it versus an etched matte one, but you can't deny its existence.

This is further evidence of the unravelling of Apple.

Back in the Steve Jobs era, it was a matter of focus, and producing great products that wowed us. The focus included keeping the color-options to a minimum.

Now, in the Cook era, it's fancy marketing with lots of color options.

Look, I can see that some people like different colors, and I don't begrudge that. BUT, I AM TOTALLY RABID that Apple can't offer an anti-glare, non-mirror matte screen for MacBook Pros, Airs and iMacs like they used to.

Colors are just to appease our penchant for titillation, but I need an anti-glare screen to help me use my computer more effectively. When I hear that Apple can offer fancy color varieties, but can't even offer an anti-glare screen on one Pro model, sorry, but anger rises up against Apple.

I myself have no interest in gold, however I'm surprised they didn't do it sooner after how popular the Gold iPhone is.

We are only talking about 3 colors and 2 has been the standard. Adding one color is not a sign of Apple unravelling, I see it as the opposite. Most people like a choice. I also do believe keeping the menu (color) choices to a minimum. Give people to many choices and they tend to get lost or over whelmed.

Unless Apple is getting public pressure for more colors, I see no need for more then 3.

For me Space Gray is it, and unless they discontinue it I'll keep buying Apple products that offer it.

I'm not sold on the Tim Cook era but their products are still progressing, IMO! I love Apple design, their Quality and customer service. I've been a big Apple fan for many years and Steve Jobs was an incredible man RIP! I felt more confident with SJ!

I do believe they have changed a bit with Tim Cook. He is more of the business type, but was SJ's right hand for close to ten yrs(I believe). I believe there is enough people who were close to SJ, to keep his spirit alive! I want to believe that SJ's in Apple DNA.

I find this article sad, the way it's written, as it implies that Apple does not have the time, will or ability to make any major improvements to their tablet, and to get sales up a bit, why not try a gold one.

Well why not try improving it a bit, that may help also!

I fear Apple is sooooooooooo focussed on the watch, that other products are going to get neglected now, and innovation is going to stop as they want to let them tick over with a few tweaks whilst they put their real focus on the fashion side of things.

:(

Bling, Bling (for me anyway. ;))

Makes sense that Apple would use the tri-color scheme across their mobile iDevices. I wonder if the iPads will get a price cut once the iPad Pro is announced? I'm good with one of the other colors, just hope it's sooner rather than later.

Your song is very meta.

Yes, the inability to print from any networked or wireless printer w/o a workaround app or AirPrint printer is inexcusable this late into iOS, both for the iPhone and iPad.

For anti-glare screens, I admit the color brilliance is not as good, but it totally depends on the majority-usage that each person uses it for. If I was using it for general purposes, then glossy would be ok - but I am mostly using for word processing, writing. I don't want to be distracted by any background image. For this particular use, I do not care about color brilliance.

Also, Pro models did away with the anti-glare option in the last update. So there are zero anti-glare options for all Macs.

When you can't create innovation, give them gold! :p

The iPad has had only one TOCK, the iPad4.
All other models are just TICKS at best.

To be honest I never would have thought the gold iPhones and now possible iPad would take off. I'm waiting for the day this comes to the MBP, MBA, and iMac as well. :D

Gold would be nice, but a true Surface Pro competitor would be even better. 13" with iOS, stylus, split screen multitasking etc... I'm a student who would drop $1k on that without hesitation. It would be like a Surface Pro, except with a mobile operating system and app ecosystem that's actually decent.

Don't hold your breath. Apple could have done something like that ages ago and hasn't. They likely won't anytime soon. Not the size, not the split screen. Maybe the stylus support but it won't be an Apple built stylus and it won't all 1000 levels of pressure etc.

Simply out, apple doesn't see the iPad as a full on computer replacement for all uses. More like the computer for those that don't really need a computer at all. So if it's not something that plays to the 95% who are non geeks etc, it won't likely happen.
