I think they focused on the hardware with the i4 and that this year it'll be the software that knocks our socks off.
I honestly have very high expectations for iOS 5.
I do too. my expectations have graduallly increasing over time. I REALLY hope apple doesn't disappoint.
I don't really want too much for the iPhone. Improved notifications. Added info on lockscreen (weather widget, ability to scroll through all notifications, email etc). Honestly I think iOS 4 is pretty good for a PHONE
but now iOS 5 for the iPad is where my expectations are higher. In addition to the above I want a much improved multitasking UI, dashboard, handfuls of multifinger gestures, file system... A lot of stuff can really be ported over from Lion, which is why my expectations are high
