Personally, I don't really like The Beatles... But that ad is awesome!

Thank you for not trying to convince me NOT to like them,or imply I'm a tasteless idiot for doing so.
Might as well try to convince me that chocolate tastes bad,but some people don't get that.

No, no they didn't.

Stating an opinion about art or music as an objective fact is just plain stupid obnoxious and rude.If that was your goal you got an A+.

I wasn't trying to convince anyone not to like them... nor was I implying anyone was a tasteless idiot! I think music taste is something very personal to each individual, so I'd never make fun or get nasty about it, no matter what that person's into.

I was simply expressing my opinion on what's supposed to be a forum where you're entitled to do so!

Sorry if you read into it wrongly, no offence meant.

Replying to a post that you obviously didn't read and/or understand by calling someone "stupid obnoxious and rude" is rude and ignorant. Your reading comprehension gets an F-.

Unless of course, you think the quality of cannabis available in the 60's compared to what is available today falls under "art or music". And even if it did fall under that category, what I said is still strongly supported by widely available evidence to back up my opinion, when comparing to what is available today, and accepted as fact by almost all Botanists.

So why don't you go do some research to state your opinion on the matter in a clear and precise manner, and get back to us with your findings. Since reading doesn't appear to be your strong point, maybe you can just watch this instead:

Ok first off. Back then when that song came out people were high as a kite. I was high as a kite. I looked at getting high and listening to that song as magical. I laughed allot back then because I had the munchies and thought everything was funny. Even the Beatles were funny. Even when they sung Hey Jude. Man I had some good weed back then. Don't smoke it now but wow they had good stuff then.

Making me laugh man ... wow!

I think there are a bunch of us that grew up in the 60's hanging out here from time to time.

You are going to take some hits though on that posting!

Now if only iTunes LP was like that, we could start talking Apple. :p

why should he? Most people on this forum idolize a man who openly advocated dropping acid (steve) why should they hate on some hippie who smoked some pot? The last three presidents have admitted to smoking pot.

Apple computers were made by stoners, its way easier, and fun, to use stoned anyhow. I could watch that spinning ball for hours man.

Just to clarify, Clinton said he didn't inhale and never admitted to getting high. But he also said he never had sex with that woman. Guess it comes down to what your definition of "smoking" and "is" is.

I'm almost positive Bush never admitted smoking marijuana publicly, and would never address past drug use other than saying he made mistakes in his past. Although he apparently admitted it in private to advisors.

Obama is the only President to have admitted to getting high and using it on multiple occasions publicly... unless you go back to the forefathers who were all puffing away on "hemp" they grew on their own land.

Great ad. Funny how even those who call the Beatles irrelevant find them relevant enough to comment on.

:)

Pretty cool stuff. I like how they finished with Abbey Road. It's my favorite album, but many fans assume Let It Be was the last chapter.

Abbey Road was recorded last, however Let It Be was the last to be released. Let It Be was sitting in the vault after nobody wanted to touch it. It wasn't until Phil Spector came in and did something with it that it was released. As it is widely known, McCartney hated it, which what eventually led to Let It Be: Naked (funny how that's not available).

The Beatles essentially broke up in 1969 after recording Abbey Road. On the back of the Let It Be album, it said "A new phase Beatles record." New phase alright, the end of an era.

The video was really cool. Like many on there I'm sure, I remember being a kid in 1987 and playing these newly released CDs. I wouldn't have imagined I'd have to wait so long for the remastered versions to come out.

Let It Be was supposed to be the album "getting back" to their roots. They wanted essentially to perform a live album, in studio. No overdubs, etc. At some point, it was going to be anything and everything, a live show, a movie, they were going to record some of their older songs, etc. The grandiose plans just kept getting bigger and bigger, as were the riffs between the band members. If you listen to the "fly on the wall" disc of Naked, you'll hear them talking about a show on a boat, for instance. Harrison wanted none of that. Then Ringo nixed a trip "abroad," although no exact mention of where this meant.

The Naked version of 'The Long and Winding Road' is great. However, the title track, isn't as good as the original album. For the last verse on the album, I love the drum accents.

PS- I would love the Let It Be movie to be released BTW. From what I know, Harrison never wanted that released while he was alive, and I think his wife is carrying on with that vow. I remember watching the VHS version many years ago.

Even though the Beatles are one of the worst bands that ever existed, I think that Apple ad was very well done. Short, no seconds wasted and get's the point across very well.

Yeah they were so bad making 14 wonderful albums in about 8 years and still selling more than ever almost 50 years later. My guess is that you were not there at the time in the 60s? If you were not, you cannot even imagine how dramatic and influential they were , creating new songs, new sounds and pretty much full albums on an average of twice a year. If you are taking as technical musicians, except for McCartney, they were not the best players, but the sounds they made on record influenced even probably your favorite bands.

Who doesn't own the Beatles if they are a fan, seriously?
And who doesn't already have the Beatles in way higher fidelity than 256K for full price? Beatles need to be heard on vinyl or at very least lossless. And why, if Steve did know Yoko and family, did this deal take so long? Wonder if they have the "Beatles in Mono" which is all I listen to from them anymore. Which is everything just in their original desired mixes done by the band and not the label.

I HATE Jude.

And I hate people who like the Beatles for who they were.
Like things for what they are now.
Pop/Techno/Dubstep and all that stuff that sounds like "crap" now...
Is getting remixed by 70 people every day.
It's evolving quickly, and we're (hopefully) weeding out the crap producers.

The recording equipment and gatekeepers (producers) back in Beatles' time were crap.

It sounds like crap.

So...Let us start...to make it better, better, better, better, better, better
YEAH!!

That's not how music (or any art form) works. Cameras have been getting better forever, but the quality of the output hasn't. Canvas material and paint tech has got better, the paintings haven't. Computers have been getting better but digital art hasn't (at least for a good long while now anyway)

The gatekeepers and equipment didn't exist for most of musical history. Is classical music, blues, jazz, etc crap because it hasn't been produced in the way you value? Ridiculous. You're discounting most of the world's music, both modern and historically.

Joking, right?

Anyway, I'm kind of surprised at the Abbey Road love...it has maybe the most iconic album cover, but only Come Together and Octopus's Garden seem to be great.

It's all subjective, but c'mon ... Something isn't one of the most beautiful pop love songs you've heard? :)

Why did they put Let It Be before Abbey Road?

Obviously I can't prove anything, but it's what I brought up a while back:

We must be exact musical opposites... I skip "Come Together" most of the time, but I think the rest (and particularly the last half) of that album is probably the greatest assembly of recorded songs ever made. :p

"She Loves You" came out several years before I was born, but every time I hear it, I think it's probably the perfect, timeless pop song. It's concise, but pretty much has it all.
