Wow, Johnny Appleseed has some expensive taste...$4995 for a bike...haha.

This is a great video though, really shows off the features of leopard. I cant wait to try it out next week!

I knew that quicklook played movies and read multi-page PDF's, but I didn't know it went full screen, that's going to do away with several apps I use.

Actually, Quicklook only lets you look at documents on screen. You can't print them, edit them or anything. Plus, I'm not sure how many kinds of files Quicklook actually works for, so you still may need a 3rd party app to be able to read a document.

It still doesn't show whether the Stacks "fan" will work from a dock on the side, but oh well.

I love how Johnny Appleseed's .Mac account doesn't expire for another 36,485 days. I wish my account didn't expire for another 100 years.

Nice !! Didn't look too closely at that detail, lucky him.

Is it possible to not use a folder as a stack? I'd be upset if I can't drill into folder easily like I am in Tiger:

That works more or less the same, when you click on a folder inside a folder in a Stack, it opens it within the original "grid" view. So instead of having tabs stretching across your screen, the grid view goes deeper and deeper without taking up any more space (unless there are more files and folders of course).

Howcome when he installs leopard it just "installs" and doesn't ask if he wants to clean install, archive and install, or upgrade?

If you watch the video during the first part of install there was a "custom" button on the bottom left.Thats where you would do a custom install..
E.G. Archive and Install or a "erase drive and install".The default type would be an "upgrade".Thats what he did in the movie.

I can't watch that sterilized corporate presentation. Anyone spot anything new?

I would imagine there's a simple option for new users recent switchers that just does it for you, and an advanced option incase you'd like to customise it a bit more to your liking.

Edit: Gah! Peace beat me.

I am very excited about stacks now. If spaces works nicely with Fusion in fullscreen, I'll be a very very happy person. I also now feel the need to get an external drive for Time Machine.

My goodness that Mac he was on was zipping along.

Leopard's looking really good! That Time Machine feature is pretty trippy. Love its user interface. I also think I'll really enjoy the coverflow Finder, too... although... I kind of wish they could figure out a way to simplify the 3-panel design (sidebar, coverflow, list underneath coverflow) down to 2 panels, just sidebar and coverflow, without losing that list of items currently under the coverflow area... or maybe if they just took that list and put it as a third column on the right side of coverflow. Three vertical columns would be easier for my eyes to read than the current design, I think.

Also, that Mail to-do list feature is a really cool idea, I've often used my email just for that purpose (emailing myself things I need to do). Love how they've made it easy to sync with Gmail and Yahoo! mail.

Also, I kept on admiring that iMac! That new thin design is just so great.

I had read somewhere that stacks only open in grid when the dock is on the side.

That's silly :(

But predictable.

I think you'll find you can probably drag the middle bar to make one section smaller and one larger, so the bottom section might still be there, just completely hidden with just Cover Flow in view.

I just hope they (Yahoo!, Google and .Mac) add in a special folder for notes and To-do's online, as that'd be much easier to keep things organised than just having it in your inbox.

Cool, thanks! good news I guess!

Not really silly. What if you have a stack with 30 or so items? If it was in fan view it would reach up over and beyond the screen. That's why it's only grid view on the side.

You could reach the limit with the dock on the bottom too, with a widescreen couldn't you have more room on the side?

Great video, my feeling about Coverflow in Finder has gone from "What's the obsession to putting Coverflow everywhere" to "I can actually see how that will make my life easier".

BTW to the person who asked earlier, yes there was a similar video for Tiger, I remember because my wife called me a nerd for watching it. This video I made sure I was somewhere I wouldn't be abused!

Does your wife know you post here and if she does, does she read your posts ;)

Well the "fan" wouldn't reach up on the side, it'd reach out across the screen, like a banana :p

I know, I know

while some of the visuals i could do without (dock, time machine's starry night background, etc..) i think leopard is generally looking really good. i like the unified finder, i like the notes/to dos in mail, i like time machine, and a few other things.

it looks like a very sophisticated OS; which is good. i do wonder about how much horsepower stuff like quicklook and coverflow in the finder will take (i hope these new features do not mean a lot of beachballs) but so long as its reasonably snappy im feeling good about it.

now im looking forward to leopard a bit more than i was.
