Hey, Safari does seem a little faster :)

It's odd though, the security update didn't show up in software update, I had to download that one manually from the apple website. Maybe it was getting confused with the previous 2007-004 update.

Wait, SUPPORT FOR CLOSED CAPTIONING in Quicktime Player?

PLEASE PLEASE, GOD I hope this means closed-captioned video downloads coming soon to iTunes. As a hearing impaired user, iTunes video downloads are useless to me. But if they support captioning, I will buy a bunch just to support a company that actually captions the video they sell.

I'm with you there, closed captioned video downloads would be a welcome thing. But I think this is maybe just a fix for a previous closed captioning issue, and not a new feature :(

Does the closed caption thingy mean that all of us international users can finally watch a movie with subtitles, even on our iPods?

If that's true, it'll be great. It only took apple 20 years or so. :p

I'm not sure I'd want to see subtitles on my iPod, they'd be really difficult to read, maybe on my AppleTV however...

The funny thing is, the Wii does support WPA2, but the DS does not.

I guess it would be tough to update the DS firmware... or would it?

Nintendo has stated (on various forums) numerous times that they will never support anything but WEP. Quite pigheaded about this really. The funny thing is that I don't think it would be that difficult. Once the kids decided that playing the DS's online was not that much fun anymore, I dropped WEP for WPA.

Xbox 360

Curious, did the airport update happen to fix the xbox 360 problems when trying to connect with security enabled? Or is that all on microsoft's jank wifi.

This update killled my system. I can no longer run Quicktime and now my iTunes won't open. WTF! I've never had this happen before!

You should already have had it.

Apple Releases Security Update 2007-004
Thursday April 19, 2007 05:30 PM EST

It's only for 10.3.9 OR Mac OS X Server. So if you don't have either, it shouldn't install.

[Security Update 2007-004 v1.1 not showing up in Software Update on 10.4.9]

Hm? Apple posted three versions of this update: for 10.3.9, PPC and Universal. The PPC and Universal versions are meant for 10.4.9 and I would have expected them to show up in Software Update.

EDIT: Oops, Sorry. Withdrawn, your honor... :)
I, of course, misread the article... it said 10.4.9 SERVER...

I downloaded Security Update 2007-004 v1.1 and Quicktime 7.1.6 updates and my computer is faster I could tell. Updates fix problems and make computers faster.

Font Problem

I ran the QT update and now all the lettering on my screen is really dark, fuzzy and hard to read. Any ideas what might be up??

wow. 10 days

Good job, Apple. Let's see...MS windows had a mouse error discovered by MS about a year ago, just a month ago released a warning about it, and 2 weeks after that they released a patch that caused internal errors in vista! 10 days and Apple churned out a patch that doesn't harm anything, but fixes a moderate hole! Also, the wireless update seems to have made Safari faster...for me anyway...

Edit: oops...guess I spoke too soon about the no problems from reading the above comments...

General troubleshooting tips--hopefully one of which will get you going again:

* Reboot

* Re-install the updater (find it at support.apple.com if needed)

* Run misc. system maintenance... YASU at versiontracker.com will help.

Good luck!

And my battery health has gone from 85% to 127%. Thanks Apple :D

Uh, this reminds me of Spinal Tap where all their amps go to 11 because thats louder than 10.

All Apple did was change the numbers on the battery you already had! They didn't give you a new battery! They just changed the reading so 85% equals 127% now.

"But major, 127% is better."

Updates are always welcome.
Mine showed up automatically earlier tonight on Software Updates - did it no problem.
Download speeds were a bit slow for a few minutes, I assume due to the high demand of the download, but that wasn't a big deal.

Uh oh... looks like I'm that user. Updater dropped in the QT stuff fine, but has been sitting on the "optimizing system" part of the Airport Extreme for about 15 minutes now, not budging. (Macbook running 10.4.9)

Anyone else seeing this? Anyone had a smooth update on a similar Macbook?

perfectly fine here no problems at all srry about all your problems

Same thing happening to me..

Sometimes Apple staggers the rollout of updates to even out server load (or something). Maybe that's why some saw this sooner than others?

Also maybe they prefer that only 10.4.9 Server users do the update

I haven't changed my WPA settings yet, and my Nintendo Wii connects just fine.

Anyway, the Apple Extreme "WEP (Transitional Security Network)" is not compatible with the Nintendo DS either. I have to turn off all security or put in the MAC address to keep my neighbors off, but then my router flashes YELLOW all day long if I want to go online with the DS.

It's an Apple issue, not a Nintendo issue. How hard would it have been to have a backwards compatible WEP security setting?
