No matter what presentation Steve is giving, I always want to know what his closet seriously looks like. Black turtlenecks and jeans from wall-to-wall.

Look Closely, he is wearing a RED (Maroon) Turtleneck Today, Not Black.

see you at Iphone 5 release. I'll probably know it's you when I hear someone complaining at a loud level.

Anyone know where the Q&A can be viewed? I have searched YouTube and find nothing. Thanks in advance

CNN has at least some of it up - its in the replay video of the announcement. Very little interesting, mostly just journalists fishing for trashy headlines.

.55% effected? well not everyone called complaining... I didnt call... Anyways if this is true then I would expect if I go into Apple store and get a replacement phone... I have a high percentage to get a working one???

Really?

Interesting; too bad about 3rd party cases, of which I've bought (3) already aren't getting a REFUND.:(

Just took the Apple Market Research Survey, and I wasn't really impressed with the survey at all. It only addressed customer satisfaction and didn't allow for comments. No questions relating to issues, just wanted to know how satisfied you are with the iPhone 4/3G/3GS. I almost put "somewhat satisfied" with the iPhone 4 as a PHONE, but I'm pretty satisfied overall. Wish they would have taken my order for my NEW iPhone 4 CASE!!!:D:p:D

One phone, 3 cases? Money to burn (i.e., waste)?

Verizon on the Apple campus?

Does anyone else think it interesting that Apple has both an AT&T and Verizon cell phone tower on the Apple campus itself?

I think we might see the iPhone for Verizon soon enough.

I see a lot of complains about signal drop. To be honest i do not really care nor i every look to my phone to see what is the signal in the middle of the conversation or before/after the call.
My question is how many of those who complain about signal have experience call drop or any kind of voice quality issue?

I am about to buy one Iphone4 when they will be available in the rest of Europe and i would like to know if people are complaining about the number of lines on the screen or actually some quality impact during the call.

The person gripping the smartphones IS REALLY TRYING to drop the signal. In the iFail4 you don't need to.

Not an fanboi and don't believe me look at the redness of the death grip. That's all you need to know.

THUMBS DOWN!
The bottom line is people are not calling apple and they are not returning the phone. The hysterical will now be more hysterical because they don't win the argument. So sad that tea party politics has taken over the zombie brains of so many.

My personal guess is most users who are not complaining have better than average AT&T service or have a case already or possibly don't have one from a bad batch which was mentioned as a possible cause. Is it possible a study can be done to definitively determine if these are just isolated cases because of a bad batch?

Bumpers?

The question you should all really be asking is WHY did Apple have bumpers already for action at iPhone 4 launch?

Wasn't the amazing design of iPhone 4, with its metal band, so iconic and sleek? Yet Apple already had bumpers to cover it. WHY?

Simple answer, they already knew of the reception problem.

If it was also such a low percentage, why didnt he just ask them to bring in for replacement.
3million phone... x .55%
16,500 effected phones? easier to just replace phone, in a replacement program. wouldnt it be???

Recipe for Apple Tripe
- 3 cups of lies
- 2 Pound of lame excuses
- Half bake above
- Sprinkle liberaly with fresh buffalo chips
- Serve steaming with Kool-Aid drink
How do you know if you don't own and use the phone? Your a liar and a troll. Apples success is dye to happy rational customers who use the products. Get a life.

.55%? No way. Thats only 16,000 people. Does Jobs really think that 16000 people caused this much of an uproar for APPLE to declare a ****ing press conference? Maybe .55% have called in, but there's way more people that have the problem and I still believe that every iPhone is affected. So that means around 1 in every 181 people will be affected. Yet somehow Consumer Reports, the most unbiased publication, randomly got THREE iPhones that didn't work??? Come on son! Get the **** outta here with that ********.

I'm going to exchange mine Sunday and see if that works and if not then ill just live with it. I don't get a lot of dropped calls but I do experience some quality issues. With a bumper it works though.

From all iFail 4 owners I know, including myself I know that They were just wainting for this addmitance of guilt before returning them with glee. So your argument fails faster than any phone four.

It's communication, stupid

Well amen, Steve. "Apple is an engineering and data driven company." As if we couldn't tell from your disastrous communications!

Listen, you can spin a story any way you want but it's your actions that count. First off, you denied the problem. Then you stated it was our own fault. Then you said it was just perception of signal strength. Then you wiped discussions from Apple's support forums. Why? We're just not feeling the love there, Stevie.

Of course Apple is not a Korean company. So why communicate as if your HQ is in North-Korea? Smart companies have moved on from the "just keep quiet or deny everything" doctrine. They know that communication is not a soft skill in this day and age. You're only a couple of decades behind.

So Steve, we know you're working hard. Of course you're dealing with the issue. But like many engineers, you stay silent until you know the answer. That simply doesn't cut it anymore. People demand fair process: they want to engage, they want to be heard, they want to know what to expect.

In this case, all you had to do was to say: "We're aware that some customers are experiencing issues, we're working hard to find out what's going on and what we can do about it. We'll let you know in about two weeks." That's it. Easy, right?

Sure, people would still speculate. People would still launch crazy theories. Nokia would still taunt you. (Let them - their top customers will never forgive them for the unfinished, buggy and faulty N97; a situation they handled just as inadequately - must be an engineering-driven company too!)

But people would not be able to say you're ignoring them. That you don't care. That you're arrogant. And that's what you want. You could have taken just as much time, but at least people would have known for sure that you're taking them seriously. That's the key phrase here.

I find it hard to fathom that Apple still handles issues like this so badly. Get with the times Steve!

Yeesh - haters!

Unquestionably, some aspects of this situation could have been handled better. But beyond that, people (yes, many of whom post here) need an excuse to bash/hate.

The haters on here blow my mind sometimes. Half of the people on here complaining either A) are completely unwilling to accept the explanation given (even if that means denying that other cell phones even have anntennas) and B) are unwilling to switch to any other phone / return for a full refund.

What is it you want? Seriously, return the phone and switch! Please tell me if you can find a better phone! I used a variety of droids over the past few days and I didn't like a single one... frankly, my original iPhone was more user friendly. No need to complain, just go refund your phone. I'll keep mine, thank you! :)

May I also add - if you are so angry at Apple, stop posting on a Mac site! Find a droid forum! Maybe a Windows 7 one!

I get drop calls with mine, they said AT&T keep records but I wonder if I bring phone into Apple store, can they retrieve the record also?

Now my Iphone will display all the way down to 1 bar and nothing lower... dont think it possible to get lower then 1 bar anymore with the new update.

Let me know if your replacement works... if it does then ill do the same.

Mr Jobs made reasonable arguments and put them over well.

Just one thing.... how pissed off did he look about it all.

Like I said before in another thread, mountain out of a molehill. It's just gonna be the trolls that continue talking about it.

On the plus side, those of us with no problems are getting a free case. Cool.

Apple wouldn't potentially shortchange themselves $29.00 per Bumper if there wasn't a real problem.

That's an admission that equates to millions of dollars.

The great thing is that "revision A" is going to kick-ass.

I accept Jobs' apology.

Giving the case is PR. The case is not needed. I know. Unlike most here I actually own the phone. On the screen was Consumer Reports statement that declares the case solves reception issue when jobs offered the case. Think a case will make you happy? Here. Want to return it? Done. They are just covering the bases.

All smart phones have that problem if you put your hand over the antenna, yes...but not all smart phones are stupid enough to have their antenna on the bottom lower corner where your hand is extremely likely to cover it!!! The SMART place to put an antenna is the TOP of the phone where it is least likely to be covered. I guess that's beyond Apple Engineering to figure out and now they WILL pay the price. This has basically handed the market to Android until iPhone 5 comes out, if not permanently. A bumper will not solve the underlying problem which is that it's downright stupid to put the antenna in that location.

They are required by the FCC to put the antenna at the bottom of the phone to move the radiation as far away from human flesh as possible. Before you go ranting on like a fool, make sure you know the facts.

If it's only .55% iphone with issue... then I just want to replace my iphone with another one that isnt effected the other 99.45%... if it's not a lie

So YOU are one of those who buys anything new, as soon as it comes out, regardless of the fact that all new models of anything have kinks to be worked out. I want to genuinely thank you for being the beta guinea for me and the rest of the planet who can what till something works well before dropping in.

Wow. Your Intuition is terrible. The i4 was the FIRST product I ever bought on launch day. I'd do it again as I've had no reception issue.

Thanks for the free laugh. ;)

I honestly find it hard to believe that only .55% are having issues. Also the thing I don't understand is Apple was not acknowledging there being an issue before. But today they decide to say there is a problem?

And not to mention when people did call Apple Care, people had reported them saying "There are no signal issues".

Why should we trust anything Steve says on the video?
