Hopefully all of you that pre-ordered will get yours sooner than your expected ship date.

I ordered a 42mm stainless steel with black sport band about 30 minutes after the watches went on sale (I was in Yosemite that weekend, with terrible internet access). The estimated shipping window was May 13-27 -- and I just got the notification last night that I'd be receiving it today. :)

DUDE! I don't get it, I ordered mine at 0310 ET (because for what ever reason that stupid 3 digit code on back of card was not pre loaded into app) and im still "processing orders." still no charge on my card.

Boy, a LOT of you are mis-reading this.

It's not saying they'll just be available in stores and the pre-order people get screwed.

It's saying that "in store" will soon be an additional option to "UPS" when you order online. So the people buying online soon for July watches will be able to choose how they get their watch. That doesn't move them ahead of the June people.

That's what I read too. It seems to be another way for you to receive your watch. Have it sent to your house or have it sent to your local store. You still would have to wait until the watch is made available for it to be shipped. There is no reason to believe that just because you chose "pick up store" means that you'd get yours faster.

thats the option i was desperately looking for on launch day and couldn't find, what cost me precious seconds that bumped me in the second wave (12-26/05).

Anyway, the pickup option seems to be unavailable at the german store (at the moment writing this), i just checked.

Concluding: If the :apple:Watch gets in stores before i got mine delivered, there will be riot.

Has anyone actually seen a person wearing an Apple Watch in the wild yet? I work for a global Fortune 500 company with a very large contingent of Apple loving designers, engineers and marketers from all walks of life, and I've yet to see anyone wearing one.

Yet when a new iPhone model is released, these same people seemingly have one immediately post-launch.

Strange...

I've seen three of them in my area, in addition to my 42 SS BSB (2 using Apple Pay at Peet's and 1 while riding my bike). Seems like they're starting to get pushed out a bit quicker than at the start.

I don't know why people are still acting as if Apple wanted to do this. They had no choice. They didn't have enough Watches to sell them in stores. They would've been sold out within minutes, no one would have gotten the one they wanted, people would have been bitching and moaning even more than they are already, that they camped out all night and waited in line for hours and Apple didn't even have any stock of the model they wanted (e.g. 42mm stainless w/ link band).

They probably had a pre-existing agreement with a few high-end retail stores around the world that they could not change, e.g. Maxfield's, but this was not how they wanted the release to go. I'm sure Apple would have greatly preferred a normal release, with plenty of stock and availability in retail stores on day 1. They had no choice.

They had the choice not to announce the 24th as "launch" date (note: they never say when iPads will be available in stores any more). But perhaps at that time they weren't expecting delays and the taptic engine failure was discovered after the launch date was already announced. As far as the boutiques that received watches...as you say I'm sure Apple had agreements with them that couldn't be changed. And the number of watches was small enough that redirecting them to Apple stores would have made no sense. If people think this was bad PR imagine people camping outside Apple stores only to be quickly told they ran out of stock and have no idea when they'll be getting in new stock. I think in that situation people would have been just as upset if not more so. Especially if some of the people that did get watches were just scalpers/resellers.

I think they need to get the current online orders closer to shipping other than "July" before offering any kind of in-store pickup. I'd be annoyed if I was one of the ones who ordered on the 10th or not long after and still haven't received the watch yet those that order now could get the watch that day or within a couple of days.

It's happened before. Ordered the first 17" Powerbook G4 in January. Apple took my order at the Macworld show. Shipping wasn't until the end of March. People were able to walk right into the Apple store at the end of February and pick one up. I wasn't too happy. Supplies were limited in store so Apple suggested that I don't cancel my order, but man that really sucked.

And there are those of us who are still waiting for ours to update in status and we ordered within the first 20 mins of the pre orders going live at MIDNIGHT on April 10th.

Apple is a failure as of late when it comes to customer service and customer experience.

I saw this option this morning, and was kinda taken by surprise.

I have been wait for my 42mm SS since 8.01 UK time on the 10th. I would be seriously annoyed if someone walked in to a store and picked one up before my watch arrives

I hope they'll manage to fill my pre-order first.

I am starting to think I will be able to walk in and buy the damn watch before they ship the ones I ordered last month. So not doing well with the whole patience as a virtue thing right now. :D

I agree though, they should definitely make sure that every single person who ordered a Watch on the pre-order weekend (April 10 - April 12) gets theirs, before they start making them available in stores.

did you even read the article?

Precisely. This is "Ship to Store". They're still not going to have any inventory in store.

Are you sure about that? Because now the bands in the store have a "check availability" link which they didn't have before. It looks like stores will be getting actual stock soon.

I saw a couple at a restaurant on Thursday last week that had them. The guy had a SG Sport/BlackSB and the woman had a Silver Sport/BlueSB (no idea what size). Only ones I've witnessed in the wild and I work in a pretty affluent area and eat out for lunch everyday. I thought I would have run into more (and I am looking). I also see more Android watches than Pebbles and way more fitbits than anything else.

No one I know has one on preorder, but then again only 3 (including me) have an iPhone 6/6+... majority are 4S and 5. (about 20 or so of my friends are "Apple only" people and a majority of the total are "iPhone" people)

Note: I do not think for a second that my sample is representative of the entire population. I still find it odd that there are so few Apple Watches given the numbers that are thrown around by Apple fanatics on this site.

Ordered my Apple Watch Sport 42mm SG BSB on 4/10 at 03:08 (EST) and received confirmation at 0309. Immediate posted delivery was 5/13 – 5/27, which hasn’t changed since then. The good news is that 5/13 is a week away. Considered cancelling, but who am I kidding? Not worried about the announced in-store pick-up. I’ve waited this long. I’m in for the duration.

There are people with 3:06 EST confirmations (with 5/13 - 5/27) that have received their 42mm SG/BSB this week. So... may the luck be with you.

No one in my inner circle has purchased one. What's worse is that no one in my inner circle is even planning on purchasing one. It seems to me that all of the pre launch anxiety regarding getting people to put on a watch who currently do not wear one are coming true. Add Tim Cooks tepid reaction to current sales during Apples latest quarterly report, along with Apples refusal to provide any sort of data regarding current sales leads me to believe the watch has had disappointing metrics, either through actual sales or data that leads Apple to believe that the watch is going to fail to really catch on among the public.

The device just isn't compelling enough to pierce some of the huge headwinds that stand in its way. I've seen the device in person in an Apple Store. Great build quality, I like the design of it, I think it really looks great.. But it's function is underwhelming to say the least. Only the gold one caught my significant others eye, before she was aware of the price differences between the three different models.

And there are those who are not waiting at all, because the product is at this point first gen and uninteresting.

I think there was only one post/thread about the Apple watch and production issues. Maybe you missed that one? It happens.

You can search MR for the article.

Plan A: If you are so disappointed by Apple, why not cancel your order and buy something else?

Plan B : WAIT, until there i plenty of supply of all models and just go into a store and buy or buy online and get it shipped immediately.

PLAN C: Stop whining!

Since you don't have a horse in this race, maybe you should just keep your arrogant opinion to yourself.
