I’m a full believer that THE purpose of iOS updates is to intentionally break things that previously work, while throwing in a bone of questionable new features.
Then they spend the entire year slowly “fixing” all their “bugs” to keep people always coming back for more in hopes that their iPhone will work properly one day.

Likely Apple’s biggest nightmare is putting out a perfect version of iOS that doesn’t have any problems. Bad for business. Gotta keep the masses unsatisfied
I actually agree with this. I quit being an upgrade schmuck years ago. I couldn't be happier. My devices remain fast, bug free, with outstanding battery life. While all the upgraders start scrabbling for pennies to give to Apple, to buy new hardware, just to try to get back where they were before they "upgraded."

Anyone else's Read Receipts status showing even though the setting is set to off on ALL one's  devices??

Yeah, intentionally break stuff that works. That sounds like an outstanding business strategy. One for the books and business schools!

I have had Bluetooth issues on my iPhone 14 pro. I’ll say that. It repeatedly hasn’t connected automatically to my car stereo. I’ve had to forget the device and re-pair it every time I got in the car.

I'm tired of these messy launches...
I'm a broken record like many on this forum, but I dearly miss the days of apple products being famous for their reliabilty, both software and hardware wise.

You can clearly see the effects of a company becoming just too big.

We need AirPods Pro 2 firmware update I’m sick of the audio swaying from side to side
Agree, but I’m deathly afraid of all AirPods updates. The ANC is superb at the moment, let’s see how long until it’s nerfed.

I haven’t noticed that. But they stutter every time I wake up my phone from standby.

I really wish they’d fix that.

Apparently there is a temporary fix, you can do it by disabling the networking and wireless in the privacy setings -> location > system services. Worked for me. Try it out if you have issues!

I use the Xfinity-provided Arris DOCSIS 3.0 modem. Except for one time, never had any trouble with my iPhone 12 under iOS 16.1. 🤔
Modem has VERY LITTLE to do with WiFi. BTW, I bought that modem about 6 years ago for under $100, it’s now selling for <$50. Why are you paying Xfinity monthly for it?!?!?

Post a screenshot, if this is true, I can’t find it anywhere.

Edit: did you mean under ‘location services’?

I turned off automatic updates after I heard about this bug. I just upgraded to the Eero Pro 6E from an early WiFi 6 router from Asus called the Zen or something that always had problems and I wanted to be able to accurately evaluate the Eero's performance without having to worry about these bugs.

In case anyone is wondering about the Eero Pro 6E, so far it seems great. The Asus seemed to get overwhelmed with the number of smart home and other devices on my network and would play musical chairs dropping out devices. The range to my outdoor Ring cameras also needed some help at the far corners of the house. This addressed all my issues and my smart home devices are really snappy to respond to control center. I just wish the peak speed was higher which I know is possible on WiFi 6, but I'm hoping when Apple updates to 6E it will be better. To be clear 500-600Mbps isn't bad, but I've also got a wired backhaul so it should be giving me closer to a gigabit (at least 700-800Mbps) in my living room sitting 8ft away from the router. Wired devices test at a gigabit no problem across the house. Still a big improvement and the speeds are overall 20-25% faster than the old router even when it was working properly.

What kind and brand of smart home devices are you using? Just curious. The IP-based devices I've had from a particular brand (*cough*Belkin*cough*) were notoriously flaky regardless of the WiFi solution I've had in place (I've tried a least 3) and I live in a relatively small apartment. For those devices I think it was more of a HomeKit implementation issue on them than it was the device purely and/or WiFi's fault. They'd work fine for a couple of months and then one day, seemingly in unison they'd go AWOL from HomeKit ("Not responding" state) -- but still function from their native app. ¯\(ツ)/¯ I've made the "mistake" of switching them out to Thread-enabled devices and I have 4 different "border routers" (two minis and two 2nd-gen ATV 4ks) in my apartment and it's actually been notably worse reliability. Then again I'm also still on iOS 15 because iOS 16.... *shudder*....

When you deployed the Eero devices did you changing your networking, Wifi credentials, etc and reconfigure your smart-home devices? I suspect not, since that would be a bit of work. In my limited experience when these devices are first connected to the network they seem to behave and over time they start to flake out a bit and need a bounce or a reset. I hope your experience fairs better :)

I have 2 ASUS AX89X routers with separate SSIDs and on different frequencies. Every other phone / device / smart home device works well with my setup and my 13 Pro Max was flawless on iOS 15.

As soon as I did the update, I noticed it kicked me off wifi while I was on a longer zoom call and nearly used out my data plan without realizing. I did the fix as stated above with location services and so far it’s ok. I’ll see how it is after a week. Typically I have to reconnect at least twice a day, even when I’m next to the router all day.

Apple is preparing an iOS 16.1.1 update for the iPhone to address bugs and issues experienced by users following the first major update to the iOS 16 operating system two weeks ago, including a persistent Wi-Fi bug that's been annoying iPhone customers.

MacRumors in the past week has seen signs of devices running iOS 16.1.1 in our website analytics, indicating the update is under testing within Apple and could see a launch in the near future. While it's unclear what the update will include, it's possible it could fix a widespread and persistent Wi-Fi bug that has impacted users. The bug causes a user's iPhone to randomly disconnect from Wi-Fi when left on standby, such as overnight or in other situations.

Alongside the fix for the Wi-Fi bug, Apple could address long-standing complaints from users since iOS 16's launch in September, including reports of battery drain, slow Spotlight search, and laggy animations on iPhone 14 Pro models when swiping out of apps. For new features, iOS 16.1.1 could include Emergency SOS via Satellite for iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman recently said in his Power On newsletter that Apple is likely to release Emergency SOS via Satellite via a dot-update to iOS 16 in November, which could turn out to be iOS 16.1.1. MacRumors has seen no sign of any other iOS 16.1.X update in our analytics at the time of writing. Apple has not yet provided specific information on when Emergency SOS via Satellite will be available to users beyond saying in November.

Apple is currently publicly testing iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 with developers and members of the public beta program. iOS 16.2 is slated to be launched in mid-December.

Updated my iPad 11 M2 to 16.1.1 and the issue is still not fixed. Wifi disconnects when I put some load on it with heavy downloading such as: updating 42 apps from the app store, or backup restore, or download all resources on PUBG. It keeps working fine on slow casual usage and doesn't disconnet. Wifi signals disappear on iOS 16.1 and 16.1.1 both.
