Apple made iOS 26 way too heavy resource wise. iOS 18 on an iPhone 17 Pro would had been extremely stable and fast if an iOS 18.8 existed for it.

Exactly. It runs sluggishly on my iPhone 15 pro...

In case someone didn't get the memo...
The whole point of free annual iOS updates is to SLOW DOWN older devices to compel people to buy new ones.

idk dude, slowdowns havent been an issue for me since like the iphone 7, its mostly due to battery degradation, get a new battery and the phones as fast as when it was new

Please bring back the power of my iPhone 16 pro. I’ve seen upgrades lag a phone before but never a model previous. Trust me I’ve restarted, have plenty of storage etc but this update made my phone feel like an iPhone 6s maybe. If rather not have pretty backgrounds on chats, and have messages open up.

This is not good. This would mean that 26.1 is likely pushed to November. I don’t believe Apple will release 26.0.2 and then a few weeks later release 26.1

What do you mean this is not good? Bug fixes are good. I would rather Apple fix all the bugs ASAP rather than waiting weeks or a month just for them to release an update that may or may not fix the issue.

Cannot share an image from Photos selecting Mail on iOS 26.0.1 – it just doesn't let me enter the recipient 😒

Bug fixes are great, but when your gearing up for a product launch and actively testing a new OS build, there's [somewhat] common sense to just include the bug fixes in the new beta build. Unless there is a severe mission critical failure that is plaguing 100% of every iPhone running 26.0 or 26.0.1.

Whatever is fixed in 26.0.2 won't be a part of 26.1 beta 3 next week. which means those on 26.1 will need to wait for beta 4 or full release.

Well they did say the point is that over the years, they make the iPhone that powerful a technical headroom, that now it’s able to render the glass effects in real time

People don't buy new phones because the old ones have slowed down, they buy them because their contract is up and the battery is getting weak. This isn't 2015 anymore...phones last a lot longer, and people are less inclined to upgrade than they used to be.

..or they just keep what they have until it breaks.

The more I use 26 the worse it gets.

Safari - awful. Website experiences broken as it cant handle some basic css because of that silly floating URL bar.

Messages - keep losing the bar to type a new message. ** UPDATE ** This happens across apps. Could be related to Liquid Glass layering. Mess.

Mail - not downloading the preview of a message (I think this might be an example of Apple never fix bugs that are years old)

Light text on light backgrounds being illegible

Health App not counting steps randomly

Music not syncing Library changes. The mix feature is quite cool though.

General - sluggish screen redraws, emoji keyboard takes an age to appear

I know they think they are adding value with new features etc, which is fine but leave them until they are ready. They really need to let you download back to the version that came with your device because they are wrecking the experience you paid for. I'm amazed no one has class actioned them for this.

I would say the sluggish effect is enabled just weeks before an iPhone release.

My phone has never been so slow these days with loads of screen hanging when opening basic apps (message, WhatsApp, mail). And I haven’t updated the OS since July.

I hope they're continuing to work on wifi bugs on the 17 Pro. I didn't notice any on iOS 26 but after I updated to 26.01 I definitely have.

At my large workplace where I normally change location constantly the wifi seems to behave like another poster on the 26.01 article described - hangs onto access points too long until the wifi signal is unusable, instead of roaming smoothly between them. Turning wifi off and on seems to help, but then I'm moving to a new spot so I'd have to be doing that constantly as well.

Does anyone else’s iMessage app show a contacts number first before immediately cycling to Maybe: Contact Name and then to the Contacts Name?

Is this a known bug or an issue with my iPhone 17 Pro Max?

My sources tell me it will be released today but it could also be the coming days or early next week

The absolute earliest I’m going to update to iOS 26 is 26.1, and maybe not even then as it seems something of a mess at the moment.

Exactly. It runs sluggishly on my iPhone 15 pro. And don’t get me started on my Watch 7. I can’t even get to the end of the afternoon.

I installed 26 on my iPhone 11... initially regretted it for making the phone noticeably slower... but then used Accessibility to remove animations, remove glass transparency and Boom.. all lag is gone.. feels completely fine in day to day use.

They need to move that sh*t out of accessibility and into performance options at this point.

I did the see the artifacts when I used iOS 26.0 at a convention the first week of release, and when I came back on my flight, turning off airplane mode did not find the TM network again, it required a reboot of the device.

0.1 has fixed those. Overall a solid release so far, didn't mess up any workflows or my fun weekend.

I've been having this weird redraw issue with opening websites in the background on Safari. It shows this slight line going down into the tab bar for half a second before the tab opens. I hope it's not a hardware issue. Let's hope 26.0.2 or 26.1 fixes it for me.
I see this, 16Pro. I assume it’s just another piece of the steaming pile that is Liquid Glass. I have Reduced Transparency enabled.

I was on an upper-level support call about a wifi issue an hour ago. Twice during the call he was checking to see if 26.0.2 was out yet, and he strongly suggested to me that I keep an eye out for the release in the next couple of days.
