I definitely understand what you're saying. I had my Fold 4 for 2 years and had no durability issues. Others may have had problems. I guess I'm lucky. I enjoy my Fold 7. Of course a tablet is bigger, but if we go down that road, so is a 13, or 14" MACBOOK PRO. In my house, we have a very nice 65" TV, but sometimes my wife or I will watch a video on my MACBOOK pro or her iPad. Is that a compromise? I think so, yet we're ok with doing it sometimes for convenience, and I think convenience is what many people care about.
The number one thing that I liked my Fold for was as an ereader for on the go. It was a lot better for that than a standard sized phone is. I do not watch a lot of videos on my phone or anything, but I definitely doom scrolled less with the Fold since it was so good for the Kindle app.

At the current price point, foldables will never be a mainstream product. Look at it this way, you can buy Toyota Camry, or a BMW 5 series. Big difference in price and Toyota sells way more Camrys than 5 series, yet, they both are for sale and make money for their respective companies. A 12" tablet is great, but can't fit in you pocket.
Ok I see your point, but for my daily use my iPhone 17 pro max 1TB is enough, when traveling is my iPad Pro 11" 512GB enough and fits in a small bag or backpack.

I understand. You are comfortable with your usage of both phone and iPad. There is no reason why you have to like or want it. I have no interest in either the Apple or Samsung Ultra watches yet they exist. An example of my usage. This morning I had a doctors appointment. They bring me into the room, took my vitals, and I sat there for 75 minutes. I opened up my phone and read the newspaper, and did the usual scrolling. When they came in to get me, I folded it up and put it in my pocket.
