I hope the gallery adds some stability by testing extensions. I have installed some that just cause safari to crash.

There is no AwesomeBar or equivalent in Safari. For example, try to write "super mumbo bambo bear" in the adressfield and press enter. Will it use the search engine to search for it? No. Safari still use a separate search bar and adressfield. Merge them and you have the beginning of an awesomebar.

I never liked that behavior myself (for some reason I can't articulate) but I suppose you are right here. The only work around I've seen is that you type in your "super mumbo bambo bear", the "could not be found" page is up and you notice the "search with google" at the bottom and hitting enter a second time will search it.

The upside to that is you can search with it assuming that
A: you don't have that in your history
B: you are willing to hit enter twice to search

Must be limiting though if you are used to it, I can understand that (I still don't know what to call it though - awesomebar)

For whatever reason, my Safari 5 install is garbage and runs super slow, especially when it comes to retrieving a site. Using the built in google search bar usually always results in the connection timing out. I can switch over to Firefox and be fine. Weird. Guess I should try to reinstall?

Yes. Mine too. I miss Safari 4. Wish I could revert. eBay, for example routinely crashes Safari 5. For the first time ever, I've moved to Firefox. :(

Keyboard short cuts with < and >

I had a plugin or extension for Safari on my Tiger machine that used < to switch to the previous tab and > to switch to the next. It was much handier than the combination keys used that are built into Safari.

Anybody know what this was called?

Wonder if Safari Extensions will make it into iOS 4.1. Be a great addition to the iPad, and would fit with the managed code style environment of iOS.

EXTENSIONS?!?!?

EX...

EXTENSIONS?!?!?!

Dont talk about extensions...

How about letting me revert to a version that doesn't purposely crash while using Flash first?

10-15 times a day since the las update... Almost never before the update...

I know quite a few people that don't like it too - but really this is a thing that should be quite easy to allow us to customize ourself. And really shouldn't be too much work either.

The lack of customization for me is what keeps me from getting confused when I go into the options menus (see http://www.wwcc.wy.edu/dist_ed/bb/images/ie.jpg" if you want one of those obvious examples)

I would like to see the option here for those who want it, even if it is in a backend way (terminal, macpilot, onyx, etc).

what do you expect? it's Apple. likely most products, they are barely impossible to customize. Safari is way behind in terms of customization or enjoying more fun for surfing. well, I don't use it. Chrome is the best choice.

I need an extension that would replace the Keywurl plugin. As well a way to separate the search and address bars.

Barely impossible? Odd wording, but I assume I know what you mean.

Lack of customization + ADHD = more work done (or is that 'not less work done?')

On a side note....

Linux (esp. KDE) + ADHD = no work done
