Where is the NY campus? Sick of companies not investing in NY and Upstate NY

Looks like the NY campus is at 11 Penn Plaza in Midtown.

I guarantee us in North Carolina will have no problem showing up to work 7 days a week! thank you apple! they might just be able to sell the spaceship and ditch california altogether🙏🙏👍

Sorry, I grew up in North Carolina. If it doesn't have a gun, or a bible, or free beer, it ain't gonna work there*. I mean, YIKES!

(I remember the sign I saw over an outside drinking fountain. It still effects me, even today.)

Is Apple looking for that 'right to work' vibe? But, to be fair to North Carolina, they have the 'research Triangle', and a lot of great companies are there. Plus I was in Asheville a few years ago, and was grooving on the terrain, and climate. The Biltmore was insane. Big. TOO big. But the Blue Ridge Parkway was hypnotic. I loved it. So wished I had my bike with me.

But one part that is rather morbid, but makes sense: No earthquakes (so far). Smart to spread their employees around a little.

* Inside the 'triangle', it will be good.

And with 11 to over 20 foot ceilings, all I can say is WOW! But I LOVE LOVE LOVE old New York City architecture. I spent my whole week there looking up so much, my neck was a mess. Such a beautiful city, and such amazing architecture, and 'accoutrements'. Gargoyles, parapets, arches, etc...

true. only hiring people within the US or that specific place is to ignore all worldwide talent that could work for Apple. Remote work is definitely what innovation means, contrary to that Apple woman who said office work is "essential" to apple culture.

We need to invest in America and Americans. Not foreigners and foreign countries. That (greedy) mistake was made with China already.

Or Minnesota, Montana, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania?

I think the issue is that those states don't have the caliber and quantity of talent compared to the other metropolitan cities, and they are not desired cities to move to.

Yep, I work in NYC, and I often reflect about how beautiful the city architecture is. And of course the local city taxes tear me a new one, but those are the penalties you have to deal with in living in the "center of the universe".

No matter how much apple shows off their new investments.. They are still very small against Huawei and Samsung Campuses. 🤣
Yeah, one thing apple definitely lack is government support. Maybe they should not piss FBI that hard and they can flex like amazon did. /s

Wow! This is massive. It's great to see the expansion in the U.S. states.
Love the green space on this campus seems more than the spaceship has.
$1 billion to make space for 3,000 employees to work together.

They should build an Apple Town instead. $300,000 per employee is an extremely generous budget for building houses…

who said it’s just for employees to work in? Could be for prototyping, havin partners over to discuss deals, etc. Father away from Apple Campus 2 where the real secrets are.

also I think Apple is playing the McDonalds game here buying prime property to hold/increase value & sell it 10yrs from now.

In the new normal we now live in, I have to say it seems a bit silly to build a 1 billion dollar complex? They may find engineers don't want to work for them if they don't offer hybrid home working. If other tech companies are now offering it along with the same packages. Lots of people want to spend more time with their families now.
I wonder if they offered hybrid home working if they couldn't reduce the size of the building required, thus reducing its environmental impact, something Apple is always cheering about. And save on costs too.
Although they may have signed contracts and agreements at this point.
I can testify that working from home has a lower productivity because of all the family nonsense that comes up. If I'm working at the company, then if there is a wedding at noon, not my problem, I can't be there. I'm working that day. Or, if my daughter had a bad night of sleep and is cranky, not my problem, I'm working. If I'm home, I'd have to personally deal with all those things, which reduces my productivity.

Of course, you save childcare and nanny costs, but you pay it with you sanity.

Also, you are less creative and more limited by your individual domain of expertise, you can't very easily make new friends and meet new people. It's very difficult to do multidisciplinary work, especially in STEM.

an hour commute in any direction from RTP and you will find rural areas that are cheap to live in, quiet, great schools and culturally diverse!

That may be true in your case, but it isn't for everyone. Plus I don't see why people such as yourself can't work in an office whilst others work from home? It shouldn't be a one size fits all approach like what Apple seems to be promoting.

It’s really a bit of both....

Huawei and Samsung should be wondering why they have to spend so much money to copy Apple.

If companies are doing remote work, it’s basically the same as outsourcing. They might as well out source the jobs to China or India and save salary costs. You don’t want to open this flood gate and destory the job market. A Chinese Engineer will work 3 times harder than you for a third of the pay, and they are good at what they do when managed well. Unless there is a wage parity between China and the US, which eventually there will be, I don’t see this remote work thing being viable for Americans.

Interesting, because even the Bible says that people DO NOT HAVE TO GO TO CHURCH to be good people. If anything the Bible warns against people being 'good' in church, and rotten outside of it. I was very involved in a church as a child, and the other parishioners were so vile, mean, cruel. The minister exposed the negativity, and was ejected for it. He had a brilliantly written sermon, based on biblical references, and was excoriated for it, eventually, knifed in the back, was shown the door by the frauds, the Hypochristians. My faith in humanity took a huge hit after that.
