The benefit of competition 😀Crazy I bought two 2m TB4 cables on Amazon that even support 240W. For that price I could have bought four of those.

The cables are designed for use with Apple devices, Android devices, and Beats headphones and speakers, according to the listings. However, they do not have any unique features compared to other equivalent cables, aside from having Beats branding. For Apple, the cables would help to boost the company's accessories revenue.
Why? Most people never transfer anything over a USBC cable.usb c with 480Mb/s should be decalred violation of consumer rights in 2025.
It should all be atleast 10gbps even if its just a charging cable, you never know when you need a decent speed cable and thats the only one handy.
Next-level cringe. It's the sort of thing you'd suggest sarcastically or as a bit of light relief during a long meeting, but someone senior actually thought "yes! that's perfect!" and they ran with it, nobody brave enough then to point out the obvious.“Elevate your charging game…?” Seriously? 🤣
This is what marketing does.Next-level cringe. It's the sort of thing you'd suggest sarcastically or as a bit of light relief during a long meeting, but someone senior actually thought "yes! that's perfect!" and they ran with it, nobody brave enough then to point out the obvious.
I used to think Legal were the scourge of the corporate world, followed very closely by Finance. But on reflection, Marketing is where the real atrocities happen, the prime example being the "Built for Apple Intelligence" debacle. Never mind Giannandrea, for pushing that blatant lie and getting Cook's signoff, Jozwiak should have been sh*tcanned. Or better yet, demoted to VP of MFi (Cables & Accessories).
well you might want to not only use it for chargingHow fast do you need for charging?
Marketing when done right, should make the consumer stop and think, even change perceptions, whilst creating an itch and simultaneously offering the balm for it.This is what marketing does.
If you want to use it for more than charging then buy a cable capable of higher speeds. These cables are designed specifically for charging only.well you might want to not only use it for charging
if they some how limit it to 480mbps then it wouldnt be very useful on a faster phone to transfer data...
think a little outside the box.
i still have friends who buy USB2.0 disks when I want to copy files for them... they dont get it takes me ages to copy files over for them. why the heck would anyone sell old 2.0 disks anyway? the price difference is small now. in fact supermarkets sell them for more than most office and tech shops. it's last minute convenience and ripping off customers with old products.
you might recall Apple being forced by EU to use USB C plugs on phones.
and then Apple released on with USB 2.0 transfer speeds.
EU should have defined a better standard the encompassed more of what the plug could do...
Why’s that?It should be illegal to produce usb 2.0 cables in 2025
yeah. buy a more expensive cable that performs less.If you want to use it for more than charging then buy a cable capable of higher speeds. These cables are designed specifically for charging only.
The EU doesn’t care too much about what the cable is capable of beyond the type of connector on the end. It would force low end, cheap cables off the market if all cable manufacturers had to make cables with faster than USB 2.0 speeds.
