this is just for 13 inch? 15 inch are not affected? I planning buy a 15 inch...

Just 13" are affected. I've not seen any 15" reports or at-least nothing like the volume the 13" threads popped up.

I've not had the problem on my 15" Haswell either.

that's interesting. The trackpad on my mid 2010 MBP 13" just started going haywire today.

With the premium Apple demands, and people pay, one would expect the hardware to be released without the need for a fix in the first place.

If the premium price isn't for higher quality, what in the world is it for?

Despite the price, when it comes to technology sometimes it's hard to pin down all the bugs.

I agree that it's something that they probably should have been able to identify before release. Maybe it even was but didn't want to delay the release of the products any further. But, they are transparent and pretty prompt when it comes to fixes. So that could contribute to the inherent value of the brand, in my opinion.

I noticed this problem immediately in Preview on my 2012 MBA. It also makes the text blurry and takes 3-5 seconds to sharpen back to normal.

I thought I read somewhere that the 15" inch model has the same problem. I am glad to know that this is isolated to the 13" model since I am hoping to order a 15" MBP soon! ;)

umm

Plug in an external, or use bluetooth?

What's the point of having a mobile notebook computer if you have to dongle a bunch of externals, might as well be glued to your desk then right? That is no solution.

It is a temporary solution to a problem that is being fixed. It's either that, or return it and try to get a refund. Those are your two options.

I wonder if it has anything to do with Mavericks. After upgrading to 10.9 on my iMac, my Bamboo Pad became unreliable. I reinstalled the drivers and it's been mostly behaving itself. But occasionally the cursor will become unresponsive. Never had that problem with 10.8.

My 13" mbp has been doing this randomly since it arrived friday. Neither my trackpad nor my keyboard will respond whatsoever. Have had to do a hard reset about once a day bc of it. Not terribly annoying yet, but certainly getting there.

Not acceptable for any new computer, let alone a $1300+ one. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

Obviously, Apple messed up here and hopefully they can provide the fix quickly.

But I am not sure the 'premium' you mention applies to the new 13" rMBP. If you look around for similar spec (CPU, SSD) and build (weight, etc). You will find that the 13" rMBP is actually very price competitive against the likes of Samsung, Lenovo, Acer.

My Late 2013 13" rMBP has been displaying these issues and i have convinced myself to take it back within the 14 day period but i will hold out now for the update.
Don't worry... It's everybody. Completely software.

Put me down as 3 people cause all three macbook pros that I purchased exhibit this problem. Before people ask, one for me, one for my girlfriend, and one for my brother.

Mine has only shown this problem with the trackpad and keyboard going dead only once and I had to hard reset the computer by holding down the power button, I lost work in the process unfortunately. My girlfriend's and my brother's had this happen multiple times so hopefully the fix comes soon.

Instead of being pissed, I consider us lucky in that we can even afford to buy such wonderful machines while people don't even have food. Truly a first world problem, but that's not to say it is not an important problem to us.

These things happen with electronics and I'm sure apple is working overtime to fix these issues.

I wouldn't put it past apple to send some store credit to people affected by this simply because there is news coverage on it now and apple can't afford anything to tarnish that perfect image.

Be thankful for what you got, no matter how big or small.

That's what she said.

My 13" arrived yesterday and works flawless so far. I think it is great that Apple acknowledged that there is an issue, told everyone that they work on a fix and gave a quick workaround fix for the meantime. Thats how it should be. Bugs can happen and can even go undetected. Because still people and engineers are develoing these computers. Now a real person needs to sit long hours in Apples campus, trying to really understand what is the issue and how it can be fixed.

I've just organised a return due to this issue. After a week and 70+ pages in the Apple discussion forums thread we end up getting quite a sparse statement from Apple.

I'd like to cancel the return, but I don't feel I can as there isn't any sort of ETA on the fix, there is no confirmation that it is software only problem, or explanation as to what the problem really is. I've tried the work around they've suggested but it only works sometimes and I am therefore constantly saving all work.

Mistakes happen but I do feel that in this case Apple could be more customer focused and provide us with a little more information.

Only had this happen once on my October retina macbook - been using it 8 hours a day and not experienced it since. But welcome the update!

Mine did this once less than five minutes after using it the very first time. I had to do a hard reset too. It had stopped responding altogether. I am going to use it as little as possible until there is a fix, hopefully next week.

Doesn't repeated hard reseting cause problems, such as the risk of data loss or corruption of system files?
