Get over yourselves...

I personally think this is a solid move by apple. I personally would not purchase many if any explicit apps. However, if an app contains excessive nudity or violence it should be in its own category to better allow parental control.

And for those who think having boobs on the app store is a bad thing, seriously keep your morale views out of my life. I am an adult I should be able to choose whatever content is offered. I think a lot of people in this country (USA) have issues with their sexuality or just sexuality and general and cannot handle the thought of other people enjoying their sexuality. I think a lot of it has to do with the "Puritan" morale code we seem to subscribe to.

Whatever.

Either way I am glad apple is moving in the right direction and I hope this explicit section includes all overtly violent apps not just the ones that show some TnA.

Also, people don't get your hopes up. Remember the last time we saw the explicit category? This may not happen at all, may be some test categories that Apple forgot to remove or something like that.

who actually pays for porn these days?

but then again, X-rated film industry is bigger than Hollywood, so this could just be a business move for Apple to make more $$ from iTunes

Have you guys ever downloaded an explicity app? They are SO STUPID.

I once downloaded an app called "boobs" just to see what it was like. The app literally was 5 pictures of flat chests in bikinis, it was more like a joke then a serious app.

If you don't want to buy anything from the 'Explicity' category then don't, and ignore it exists.

Everyone wins.

If kids what to find 'expicit' content - then they will do very easily on the internet. Its the parents job to control their kids, not Apple or any other company.

1984 anyone???

True.

If I were CEO of Apple I would charge a $2,000,000 premium for any developer who wants to build a iPorn or explicit App and they would be charge $500,000 to do updates to the App.

I know it sounds crazy and extreme but there's already enough access to this type of filth outside the Apple ecosystem, let those perverts think twice about developing such nonsense. If they do desire to develope then allow them to but charge an INSANELY LARGE PREMIUM.

Apple has more families and kids as there user base and they should reflect that a little more with there content.

A lost art in America People being with their familes & Fathers being MEN in there houses.

If Apple could verify my age through my credit card, then couldn't I effectively block out anyone younger? Maybe you have to have an iTunes account tied to a credit card (age verified) to get porn apps.

It would leave out the free apps only crowd, (and someone "gifting" me porn) but gives a great way for more conservative parents to protect their kids from ever seeing this. Just make it opt in for porn, rather than opt out.

Simple checkbox for us adults holding the keys:
[ ] Show explicit material

For the record: I like porn and I'm an adult. My wife doesn't mind too much. Usually.

Great. I'll dust off my iFap.

If you can really verify. Ok with me but what about visa gift cards, fake visa debit cards etc? I've seen people joke about getting credit cards for their dog do how does it work and be effective?

It makes perfect sense, Next step is add parental control to restrict access to that category. That solves all the problems really.

Oh, by the way, we've been using 'porn' here, but if Apple ever does activate this explicit category they contents are unlikely to be worse than the R rated movies and songs marked explicit that they already sell.

But then some people actually consider women in swimsuits to be 'porn', so I guess they've never seen real porn or gone to the beach.

Why is it that people of your "family values" ilk are invariably illiterate?

Just because it's explicit doesn't mean it's going to be porn.

Definition of explicit, apparently Apple doesn't believe it is a bad thing. By the way this came from a spotlight search.

I'm not sure how sex became taboo in the first place. I know it was religious but why?

Probably just another bunch of control freaks. It's always that.

i'm tired

goodnight

I think i'll jerk off now. :D

2 things:

1. It would be nice if Apple also appeased "whiners" by adding an "Awesome" category to go beside the Explicit category. The "Awesome" category could be filled with emulators, alternate web browsers, VNC servers, video cameras, [previously turn by turn GPS, MMS and tethering too]. Basically just all the cool stuff that's rejected for various reasons of "too good to be true". :p :(

2. Moreso than this explicit category, how nice would it be to have a "hide" button next to an app in iTunes? When you click it, it removes the app from EVERYWHERE in the store, except a list of "My hidden apps". That way, when you're scrolling through and see all the useless fart, non-free flashlight and other cookie cutter apps, you can (essentially), in one click, delete them forever from your appstore. You will only see them again if you go into your hidden apps page.
