I still haven't heard/ thought of a good explanation for the paint splatters. The announcements invitations have sometime been very symbolic, like the close of pocket for the iPod nano a few years back. Lots of colours like the nano? seems unlikely.

My husband, who hasn't fully entered the 20th Century and doesn't believe there is a 21st, rushed home today to tell me that he had seen a "real picture of the new Apple tablet". I asked him which one. He didn't get it.

No way! You actually got an invite?
I thought Apple hated rumor sites!

color screen. not new for phone/laptops but would be new for significantly part time media reader device that is highly mobile. (e.g., differentiation on e-readers known to market no and after the great parting of the seas. )

Thinks original BW Mac vs. Color Mac. How color is used the software/applications not so much on the physical packaging.

This tablet better not be just a color e-reader.

I want a multi-touch screen MBP!

yay

iPad is the perfect name.
this does feel like the lead up to the iPhone announcement. i'm very excited. really, this only happens a few times in one's life. it will revolutionize the print industry the way the iPod did the music industry and the iPhone the mobile industry.

oh and i heard that iPhone OS 4.0 won't run on the 2g iPhone. which sucks for me, i still have the original. and love it. jailbroken of course.

You are in for a big let down. There's no way they can make the tablet that powerful in such a small size. It's going to be nowhere the power of a MBP.

I am amazed by the hype Apple is able to generate. They want all eyes on them, but the only thing they reveal are statements like:

"Come see our latest creation"
or something like, "we have some exciting new products...starting this week."

People are saying there are a lot of leaks with this product, but I think it has actually been kept under tight control. The little information we know that is correct is hidden by all the misinformation and mere speculation. We are not even sure what it is called...Apple doesn't even give us a name.

Its such an interesting approach.

Now, give me a new MBP please.

Running iPhoneOS it will also do other iPhone Apps.

What Apple will accentuate with is a short list of things it does better than its competition (which isn't the MBP, MacBook, or iPhone ) .

Word, so if I have an iPhone, a MBP, and I don't use a kindle, it's not for me?

just one simple example of an iPhone app that'd be even better on a tablet: ColorSplash. Check it out. It works fine on the phone, but it'd be a superb app for doing what it does, on a bigger device.

What's the iPhone app YOU'd most like to see adapted for the tablet?

An EPIC massive form of doodle jump. SOOOO many platforms.

one more day, one more day, one more day.... of nonsense.

One more day? It's only getting announced tomorrow - not released. Then it'll be like the iPhone subforum... This is a mere taste of nonsense.

Microsoft couldn't generate this much excitement if Steve Ballmer monkey danced nude on the stage while they released snakes in the auditorium.

Here - let me show you 4 tablets - that's like 4 times the wow factor..
"This is uh sort of uh a prototype, of a coming uh HP slate PC, which will be here later this year...later this year..."

Ooh, thanks for sharing that angemon89! Not too long now!

CES-lite?

So this event is shaping up to be CES-lite (very lite) - another tablet/e-reader, another i5-based laptop and, perhaps a phone OS update (but no 3D TV, wireless TV, pico-projectors and other cool stuff). So what's all the fuss? :D
