During today's call for the fourth fiscal quarter of 2025, Apple CEO Tim Cook gave rare insight into Apple's expected performance in the holiday quarter. Cook said that Apple believes it will set a new all-time revenue record in the December quarter.

"We are incredibly excited about the strength we're seeing across our products and services," said Cook. "We expect the December quarter revenue to be the best ever for the company and the best ever for iPhone." Overall revenue is expected to grow 10 to 12 percent year over year, while iPhone revenue is expected to grow double digits.

Cook went on to say that Apple is heading into the holiday season with a "truly remarkable lineup that includes the biggest leap ever for iPhone." Apple has received a "tremendous response" to the iPhone 17 lineup despite supply constraints for some iPhone 17 models and also iPhone 16 models before the iPhone 17 launched.

Apple set a new iPhone September revenue record at $49 billion, up six percent year-over-year.

considering they don't announce number of units sold, a 10% increase in revenue could be attributed to the 10% increase in prices that they applied to the best selling pro models.

Still; the base 17 was excellent value this year so i don't doubt at all that it was a great seller.

So Apple clearly still has some steam and is able to continue recording profits YOY, despite clear iPhone Air sales disaster. Wonder if Apple will introduce iPhone Air 2 to give it another try next year.

1. First major form factor change since iPhone 12 Pro/Max. That's 5 years ago now, so people will certainly upgrade.

2. Outstanding value on the 17 base model. The last time the base model was so close to Pro/Max was iPhone 12.

What’s the difference between the base iPhone 16 and 17? The storage. That’s about it.

The storage is a biggie since the 16 256gb was $100 more; so effectively it was a $100 price decrease.
But side from that it was an update to the screen got 120hz which brought it in line with the pro, and the camera got an update too. That's about it really, but it's enough to make it a more compellng device than the other options.

The average user doesn’t know or care about the 120hz screen.

Definitely think so. The new iPhone 17 series phones are fantastic. Think there is high demand and many will be buying closer to holiday season/Christmas and think it is a good gift too. The base 17 is of incredible value too. The new iPhones will sell well throughout the year and in 2026! Also very happy with my 17 Pro Max in Orange.
