I think the second season of Silo is significantly better than the first.

As someone who's a big fan of the books, I agree! Although I found S1 watchable, I didn't love it - perhaps because my expectations were too high. Have been enjoying S2 a lot more, especially the last couple of episodes.

Great show. Excited to watch the season premiere this weekend. Took a very long time for the new season. Hopefully it won't be another 3 years if the show gets renewed.

I haven’t seen it yet but I had toe surgery yesterday afternoon and have a few days of elevating my foot at home so it’s on my list to start today on avp.

I thought the last couple of episodes were both the best & worst of the season. Last week's moved the plot along further than it's moved in ages and the week before was guilty of the opposite, glacial pacing.

One of many things I love about Severance is they nailed the pacing & the slow drip-feed of information. Silo has been way too stingy with peeling back the layers.

If you're in the New Jersey area and are a Severance fan, I highly recommend a visit to Bell Works in Holmdel. They use the Eero Saarinen-designed former Bell Labs facility for exterior shots of Lumen HQ. It's a really, really cool space. I'd spend a lot of time there if I lived closer to it.

This is the power of place-led media strategies. Site-specific activations. It's also must be extra surreal to so many who go through Grand Central and work for giant corporations with techoncratic policies amidst our current time of high unemployment and mass income inequality. It's gotta make a lot of cogs in the machine pause and question keeping this bankrupt system going, question how to find more socially responsible work and life.

I really, really loved Silo and Severance first seasons. The second season of Silo has been a struggle for me to get through. I’m afraid Severance will be the same, as the mysteries have been revealed.
This is my fear too. Silo first season was awesome with the second season falling off fast. Hopefully Severance will stay strong.

TL;DR version:
This PR is very cool.
Considering whether to re-watch Severance 1 before I start 2.
Silo brilliant but I'm a few weeks behind as I've found it a slow burner but keen to catch up based on what I've read on this thread.

Longer version:
Amazing! I suspect the actors had it written into their contracts and will be doing very nicely out of that. Ker-ching!

The first series (I'm British so I'm going to say "series" instead of "season") of Severance was probably the best thing I've ever seen on TV. And considering how good some other stuff is/was (take Slow Horses for example - brilliant) that's saying something.

I was planning to re-watch series 1 before the new series starts. No chance of doing that in time so now I have a dilemma. Re-watch the first series and then watch the first few episodes of series 2 (because by then it'll have been on for a few weeks) or just don't bother and start series 2 this weekend.

Some have mentioned Silo. The first series was excellent. I'm a few weeks behind on series 2, but I will keep watching, especially based on the comments I've read on this thread.

That's genuinely awesome :)

And I know they're actors, but to not break character with people looking at you through a glass cube like a zoo exhibit for 3 hours has to be harder than being on stage or in front of a camera.

Time to revisit S01, since it's been literally years. I remember the plot twists and general stuff, but probably good to re watch for the subtleties that have fallen by the way side.

I have by no means watched all AppleTV+ shows because I think the selection is generally pretty drab, a pig with high production lipstick on. BUT... of what I have seen, Severance is the best show that I've seen on the platform with no close contenders. I've found it the most engaging, but I like dark psychological thrillers of sorts.

If this what they did for Severance, I can't wait to see what PR stunt Apple has planned for the next season of Teheran :).
Me thinks with the situation in Israel the show could be on hiatus? The topic is much more controversial and political with two side at violent odds with each other. Using a war zone as the backdrop for entertainment could be a bad move.

Damn, that's a pretty smart PR stunt. People have said that Apple needs to promote TV+ more, well there you have it.

I can't believe Apple hasn't done an MLS/Ted Lasso tie in yet. Maybe Season 4 will see him returning to the US and training a factious MLS team with occasional real world tie ins.

Some other ideas:
- Jennifer Anniston and Reese Witherspoon hosting a morning show live from Rockefeller Center broadcast in the Apple News app.
- Carpool Karaoke sponsoring the Grammy's and taking some of the winners for a spin around the block with James Corden after receiving their awards.
- Schmigadoon only got 2 seasons but I could see a flash mob at Grand Central going viral.

Apple TV+ is finally starting to get some well deserved buzz because of Severence. Keep it going.
I LOVE your other ideas! Imagine if they did this for ALL of their shows, all on the same day, a different show at different store locations all around the world. That would be incredible and seriously impact perception of Apple's commitment to their channel. I love several series on ATV+, including Severance, and really looking forward to season 2!

Okay, THIS looks like a LOT of fun to see. Would have loved to be passing through GCS and happening upon this. Love that they are even in character and wearing those clothes.

So many shows drop the ball in S2.... American Gods S2 was garbage. So was Altered Carbon and don't get me started on Westworld.... I waited 3 years for Arcane S2 and that was all over the place, storywise... Like the three shows I mentioned first, there was just no heart in it.

I think I'll wait for some reviews before I restart my Apple TV sub. Not holding out much hope, TBH, but being wrong would be a pleasant surprise.
Reviews are out and they are absolutely fantastic. Here’s a Reddit thread of a bunch of them:
Rotten tomatoes has it at 94%, higher than season 1.

My favorite headline: “‘Severance’ Season 2 Review: Apple TV+ Drama Exceeds Herculean Expectations After a Long Wait”

If someone could elucidate and substantiate the rationale behind spending $20 million per episode on the second season, I would assert that it serves as an effective means of laundering money and establishing a bridge that I would not be inclined to purchase.
I could somewhat rationalize the expense if it were a multi-unit production, filmed on location with elaborate sets, action sequences, and a substantial cast.
I appreciated season 1, but given this exorbitant price tag, I find it difficult to justify.
What do you have difficulty justifying? All you have to do is watch and pay your Apple TV subscription. It's not like you're paying extra if Apple goes over budget or paying any less if they go under budget. Apple TV streaming services will continue to be a loss leader for at least a few more years as per Apple's plans.

Care to elaborate?
It’s that whole esoteric thing.

Take for instance the name of the company “Lumon” sounds like lumen and refers to light output.

Light is synonymous with knowledge.

The serpent / Satan is the fallen form of Lucifer which means light bearer.

Satan told Eve she would have the knowledge of good & evil if she partook of the forbidden fruit.

The knowledge the fallen Lucifer brought to this world through Adam & Eve separated man from GOD. In other words severed the connection man had with GOD.

The Lumon corporation is in the business of severing that connection. Thus the show title.

Think how even the employees are severed and then descend into some cold and lifeless work environment.

And the founders surname is Eagan.

Eagan comes from Aodh

In Irish mythology, Aodh was not only associated with fire but also with the sun, representing vitality and light.

I’m sure there is a lot more to unwrap but…

I hope Severance season 2 doesn't suck because of all the praise. Silo season 1 was good. I am struggling getting through season 2; too much boring talking; maybe Apple cut the budget.
