Who knows maybe I am missing something, not able to imagine a scenario where I may need it. So I maybe missing the missing link.

Have you ever used a scanner? Copier? Ever had a piece (or pieces) of paper you needed digitized (to email or make notes on, etc)?

If you never need those functions, then you may as well skip the app.

Still no compelling reason to have this APP but since it is APPLE advertised open to explore, can you guys give me a Real Life example on when would someone need this and how would he use it ?

Geez what is so hard to understand? The app takes pictures of hard copy documents, turns them into PDFs. So if you have a need to digitize hard copy paper then you need this. If you don't, you don't.

You have a piece of paper. You need to send it to someone. So you either

1. Stuff it in an envelope, put a stamp on it, and mail it.
2. Fax it.
3. Take a picture with this app, turn it into a PDF, and email it.

If you do this a lot, you can have an electronic file instead of a paper file. I've digitized a lot of paper, including receipts, legal documents, certificates, etc. I don't have a paper file at home anymore.

Thanks ! I think I will buy it !

Its a great app. I'm currently in the middle of a house insurance claim. I have met various people and builders and use the app to scan and store their business cards so I have a perfect copy of them all in one location.
I also have been using it to scan all my receipts during the week then email them as a single PDF to their claims department for expenses. It's been a big time saver.

OP--I've seen you do this in other threads. You ask if you should buy something and what it does, people tell you, and then you continue to ask people to convince you to buy it. If you have a need to create good quality PDFs, buy it. If not, don't.

We need to stop feeling so appalled by paid apps, sorry, APPS. If we want the iPad Pro to really take off as a laptop replacement platform, we have to get used to the software becoming more fleshed out and more expensive. I've never understood why people are willing to pony up for Office, but if a mobile app is 99c they freak out.

Well it is an open forum right?? when in confusion this is the place to ask people and when people do say something you match it with your thoughts on it and hence wanna be doubly sure about it. What's the big deal ?

Bottom line is there are free scanner to pdf apps. This one gives you OCR, for a whopping $4. If that could be helpful then $4 is well worth it.

I can say its a lot better app and more maintained than the free ones. That is generally the case with completely free apps (without any in-app paid options)- they are typically not updated as frequently or pushed forward as there is not much motivation to.

Thank you OP for pointing this out. I'll make sure to get that when I get my iPad Pro. It looks like something I could appreciate while on travel for submitting receipts etc.

This is the key right here. I've tried a lot of the free apps. Some are good. Most are not. None are better. The way Scanner Pro corrects the pictures and scans so the result is straight and legible is amazing. And they have frequent updates. $4 is pittens.

But can someone tell me how does this APP help ? It just scans a document so I can save it as a JPEG or a PDF so that I can access it later ? is that all what it does ? But how about just clicking the picture with a camera APP from the iPhone whenever I have the need, how is this opposed to that ?

I use it all the time. I need to scan to pdf for my customers.

If you do not need it, why worry about it?
