Good thing I won't have a child in my lifetime. I won't need to buy the Vision Pro!
Maybe when the Apple Vision comes out in 2029

when you realise how many baby clothes you could've bought for the cost of the Vision Pro

Nailed it. Watching videos and looking at photos of your loved ones on Vision Pro is a very emotional experience.

I’ve cried in mine multiple times, the haters will understand one day.
The thing is, you don’t need these devices that Apple is trying to sell here for that. I have mostly paper photos of my kids’ first year of life. I have a frame with 12 photos, one from each month. I can hold the frame and remember back to that time, and it equally makes me get teary to remember, now they’re grown. I don’t think it makes me a “hater” to share this, though.

how often do you look through your photos of when you were a child? I know it's also kind of a hassle to get out those heavy albums from the attic and browse through them, especially compared to using a phone. Is the Vision Pro really worth it for that??

I wish I marries my MBA classmate June 2006 and be a father to children turning 18, 14, 10, 6 and maybe 2yo in 2025.

So long as I annually make ₱1 million per family member.

I agree with this to a point. You can’t just live in the moment all the time. Just like you can’t sit on your couch and think about your past all the time either. There are so many lessons and memories from your past that influence you. these are lessons to guide you and memories of people to influence you. There’s also the future that you need to look forward to. If you live in the moment and only for the moment you won’t think about how the things you’re doing now influence your future. The thing that gives you the most satisfaction in the moment could destroy your future.

I don’t think you realize how ironic this post is. While I agree with the sentiment, you are posting this while looking at a screen. Like everything you do in life excess could be destructive. In moderation, most things are healthy to include screen time.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with recording memories to look back on in the future. I wish I had more of this from my childhood. I would give all the money in my bank to have one of these recordings of me and my dad.

You've spent way too much screen time writing this reply. Nobody cares about this comment, and you won't get back the time spent on writing it. I wrote mine while on the toilet. My daily screentime is averaging 1.5h, I'm a gardener, I touch grass a lot.

Maybe the next version of these expensive headsets should include ipx rating to protect it from tears 😭
Just sayin 🤷‍♂️

Might've been better to pitch this towards retired grandparents? More time and money on their hands to condense 55 hours worth of raw footage down to a short "memory". Also helps to have a real-life director in your contact list who's willing to lend a hand:

Director Goh Iromoto collaborated with real-life parents Khulan and Sam Baasanjav over the course of the first year of their newborn’s life. Sam filmed moments with his family on an iPhone, and Iromoto helped him edit more than 55 hours of footage into a home video for Khulan.

I find your reply humorous because I’m replying now sitting on the toilet. None of us get the time back

I should at least demo AVP to get a better understanding of "spatial video", but I haven't seen any Apple marketing to pique my interest yet. And this ad doesn't change that.

I despise this sort of products so much. Just live in the reality people, be present. There's nothing better than being sober and being present. Live in the moment. You don't need another new iPhone for doomscrolling or youtube binging or arguing with people on reddit, and you don't need headsets such as these.

We need less screens, less screentime, more grass touching 😄
I don’t see screens as good or bad. They have many uses. Screens can give us directions so we don’t get lost. Screens show us pictures of people we’ve lost or places we’ve been. When my Mom was around we did a FaceTime every day for many years. When we couldn’t be together my parents and I often sent texts using our screens.

You list uses of screens that maybe seem bad to you. But that doesn’t mean we all agree or use screens in those ways.

Few things in life are either/or. We can have screens and be present. Maybe we can even be better connected.

What you should be angry is about is Apple preying on consumers emotions with a video like this. It's a clear manipulation to sell you something. He says, "This is just a little tiny gift for her" minimizing the insane cost of this thing for a ridiculous use case, especially for new parents.

The commercials narrative is that if you love your wife and baby, you'll buy them this. New low for Apple marketing.
While these have an element of "silly" at the end, this is not a new thing for ads to do, even from Apple.

The G4 Quicksilver started at $1599 in 2002, and the 15" Studio Display was $999. :)

The iBook G3 started at $1299 in 2001, and who knows what all the camera equipment cost in this one. :)

How is this being "shared", I wonder?

Anonymous broadcast is ok, but...

A long time ago, Apple sent a Mother's Day ad to my personal email address. It was a few days after she had died. It stopped me in my tracks.

You do understand the purpose of an advertisement, right? It’s to play on some emotion to convince you to buy the product. I would have to hate every company that has an advertisement if I thought like you.

I can use the same criticism with the think different ads. Unless you just want to be like everyone else you need to go out and spend money at the Apple Store.

The advertisement is just to give you an idea. You should have enough smarts to figure out if the item is right for you. It’s kind of like when you see the jewelry advertisement for Valentine’s Day for gold but you know your wife does not like jewelry. While I think this ad is cute, I’m not going to buy my mother in Apple Vision Pro. That thing would sit in her closet because she would not put it on. If she would wear it, I would absolutely get it for her.

As to the cost, that is all relative. It might be insanely expensive for you but for someone else just pocket change. I know someone that buys his wife a $75k car every two years. I feel that’s a bit insane, but he has the money so it’s nothing for him.

I disagree with the concept of this, not necessarily what you’re saying. When someone says they don’t have the time to do something that means they have more important or more enjoyable things to do. You have all the time in the world. If the experience was amazing and you enjoyed it that much you would prioritize it over other things that you spend your time on. For instance, posting here. It’s the same when people say I don’t have the money. What they mean is they’d rather spend their money on other things that are more enjoyable to them. Of course that’s the reasonable thing to do.

I don’t have any experience with the Apple Vision Pro but I have tried the quest. It was kind of cool and maybe a little bit disorientating. It wasn’t my device so I only experienced it for maybe 10 minutes. I was impressed but not amazed. I am waiting for the next version of the AVP. I wanted to say I don’t have the money but that’s not exactly true. I just rather spend the money on something else.
Ummkay.
