Here’s a tip: Don’t buy this product, lol. It doesn’t fit many new iPhones with their camera positioning, slow charges the Apple Watch, and now this. On top of all that, it’s way overpriced.

Well this is a bummer, hopefully it is just a matter of angling the watch charger a slight bit. I use the MagSafe Duo each night to charge my S6 watch and my iPhone 13 Pro. Works like a charm and I wake up to a phone and watch that are fully charged.

It needs a refresh. It works perfect with my 12Pro and series 6, however i doubt it’ll work properly with my new 14 pro due to the camera

My bet is it will only be refreshed when the iPhone switches to USB-C.

$129, no brick included in spite of the outrageous price, no fast-charging, latest iPhones can't lay flat on it, highest end Watch doesn't fit.

Apple, why is this product not updated or taken off the shelves?

I'm not gonna lie, I've eyed this product since its release, I have price alerts setup for when it drops to a reasonable level (which I've decided is about $70), I really want this product, but they are making it very hard to justify it...

Ooof. This is an embarrassing and confusing mistake. What happened to “it just works?”
Haha, that was replaced by ”you’re holding it wrong” as the guiding principle over a decade ago. This is not an isolated incident.

I have several of these chargers for my wife and me plus a pair in our travel bags. No problem charging the current iPhone 12 Pro Max for my wife and my iPhone 13 Pro Max or our S7 watches 42 and 45. My iPhone 14 Pro Max will arrive 10-17 October which is when we will be back from a road trip. I will test it then on the same chargers.

Rather than throw these away, just put a small pad of paper under the charger and then the elevation will allow the lenses to not touch the supporting surface.

I charge over night and a full battery in the morning.

I just bought two of these for a trip and my husband and I love them. I hadn't even considered a problem when I ordered my iPhone 14 Pro, but some guy on YouTube had all the cases, and though it won't be flush, it still seems to charge when he tested the 14 Pro case with his iPhone 13.

I have been using this for over a year and have never had to remove the band. All of my bands are OEM Apple bands (leather, loops, etc.)

Really what I want is to be able to charge my watch on MagSafe/Qi chargers that are compatible with charging an iPhone.

This is an outdated product anyway. Can’t understand why this product still doesn’t support fast charging for Apple Watch 1 year after the S7 introduction. Time to update it
any idea when a version 2 will come out. With AirPods Pro 2 supporting Apple Watch charging it would be so convenient to have an updated magasafe duo that can fast charge watch 7 and up. Since I uses my watch for sleep tracking I just charge it while in the shower or washing dishes so I regularly rely on the fast charging abilities. Would buy a version 2 of the MagSafe duo in a heartbeat!
MagSafe Duo is a marvelous product but outdated and in need of update. At the very least, it should be redesigned to properly accommodate for bigger camera bump on the newer iPhones (13 and 14 series), fast charging for Apple Watch 7 and newer, and proper support for Apple Watch Ultra. While at it, the Lightning connector should be replaced with USB-C, allowing customers to travel with only the USB-C cables.

My guess is the fall 2023, when Apple is expected to transition their entire product lines to USB-C. The current remaining USB-C holdouts are:
  • AirPods
  • iPad (10.2-inch)
  • iPhones
  • MagSafe Duo Charger
  • Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad
  • Siri Remote

The Belkin Boost charge 3 in 1 wireless pad with mag safe has fast charging and the pad for the watch is adjustable and lifts slightly to accommodate the AW Ultra, it cost about the same price as the Apple Duo and is sold in the Apple store. I have the Ultra and this charger, they work together perfectly.

In a support document updated today, Apple says customers who have an Apple Watch Ultra or another larger Apple Watch model with a 44mm, 45mm, or 49mm case size might need to adjust the angle of the MagSafe Duo Charger or lay it completely flat in order to ensure the charger makes a proper connection with the Apple Watch.

If an Apple Watch Ultra still won't connect reliably to the MagSafe Duo Charger, Apple says to try removing the watch's band before placing the watch on the charger.

As noted by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman last week, the Apple Watch Ultra is not included in the list of devices compatible with the MagSafe Duo Charger, likely due to its larger 49mm case size and bulkier design making it a poor fit. On the contrary, the new Apple Watch Series 8 is listed as compatible, as are all Apple Watch SE models.

Priced at $129, the MagSafe Duo is a foldable mat with both a MagSafe charger for iPhones and an Apple Watch magnetic charging puck. Apple released the accessory in late 2020, prior to the existence of 45mm and 49mm Apple Watch models. Note that the MagSafe Duo Charger cannot fast charge the Apple Watch Ultra, Series 8, or Series 7.

Works totally fine.

Yep. I have the Ultra and MagSafe Duo. Both great products. No issue whatsoever using them together. There is no need to angle it and they work perfectly together just like the series 5 watch I had before. Puzzled as to why this article from Apple exists.

Well, I agree its over-priced. But as for functionality, I have two in each sides of the bed. Works well with the iPhone 14 Pro Max and Apple Watch Ultra. Not sure where the incompatibility was - fast charging? I just leave it there when retiring to bed.

Apple needs to release a new MagSafe Duo:

- Improved design that fits all iPhones and Apple Watch
- Fast Charge on iPhone
- Fast Charge on Apple Watch
- USB-C
- 69.00$

We have many of the original dual charging devices. They all work just fine with my current iPhone 14 Pro Max and my Ultra iWatch. Put the devices onto the charger as I climb into bed and they are charged in the morning using lower power so the batteries do not get as hot as using a fast charger.

The new dual port USB-C Apple wall charger is a perfect portable device with International travel plug adapters available. I plug our two travel multiport chargers into the one wall power source and all is well the next morning.

I see no need to complain. These devices fold top into a very small package and are relatively light and do away with one pair of cables and a second Apple wall charger.

We do have third party 200 watt chargers that can also run these Apple devices but we don't need those at home.
