I definetly experienced some annoying issues. I have an AppleTV in my car and now when I have AirPlay on if I'm listening to music and doing Nav from Apple Maps, anytime the Nav voice kicks in over the music, it disconnects the AirPlay. If I start AirPlay while in Maps, if I switch to music, it kills the AirPlay.

Also when listening to music the Volume starts off real low and then about 3-5 seconds into the songs the volume goes to what I'd say is about 125-150% of normal. Sounds horrible.

Lol why do you have an apple tv in your car?

Woa......!......

that is the thing with software no througly tested.....:( But again, how much of the bricked devices have special combinations of software/hardware....And hacks/mods.....?

Complicated for the users and Apple......I expect no bricked or unusable Macs after Mavericks release...........

:):apple:

Seems like Cook et al. can't get ANYTHING right these days:

1 - Overwhelmingly NEGATIVE response to iOS7 and a pathetic version created for the iPad;

2 - Inventory debacle concerning the under-produced 5S versus the anemic demand for the 5C;

3 - pulled Apple TV update.

Time for Cook to go - bring back Markkula, Tevanian and Serlet, please.

1. Most people I have spoken to really like iOS7. A genuinely positive response from what I hear/see.

2. Just like any other iPhone they sell out and have to wait for more to be made. Nothing new here.

3. That is true.

Answer - Not as bad as you make things out to be.

+1

Some people just live to complain :/

My Apple TV 1080 bricked

I did the update as soon as I got to my apartment.

I thought something went wrong because there was only a flashing light on the apple TV with nothing showing up on the TV.

I had to replug the HDMI and then connect it with a micro USB to my laptop to restore it.

I had to retore three time and all the times there was no HDMI signal and just a blinking light on the Apple TV.

What I did is press the remote control like crazy and suddenly... I had my Apple TV updated and working.

Yes Apple screw a lot of Apple TVs

I installed on 2 ATV. One was no issue. The other bricked and I had to connect it to my Mac via USB so that iTunes could restore. No problems now and both are on 6

I wanted to be able to stream audio and Nav through my car with a focus on cost. Not a fan of constantly having wires snaked around my car to listen to music. So I bought an AppleTV and a Lilliput HD Panel ($115) on eBay and a very small motorcycle stereo amp. I have a wifi signal that bridges everything together nicely through a AT&T Unite that's on our data share plan. It's also great for the kids because they have a wifi signal in the car for long car rides with the iPod touch. Put the amp and the AppleTV behind the flat panel in the existing DoubleDIN slot and it's been working perfectly. Until iOS 7 GM and AppleTV 6.0

my aTV3 updated fine... It took a good while to install it... thought it got stuck at one point, but left it alone and it installed. Working fine, had to restart my modem for airplay to work.

We have 5 Apple TVs at our home and just one of the five needed to be connected to iTunes for a restore. After restoring via iTunes it worked without any problems. Of course by doing so it lost all of the passwords entered for iTunes, Netflix, etc and the configuration settings for my remote.

Since the Apple TV doesn't come with a micro USB cable I can see this being a major problem. Anyone who doesn't have an Android phone probably doesn't have a micro USB cable.

Apple TV is the only product Apple sells which has a micro USB connection. I read a few years ago that people suggested this was done to deter hacking/modding.

This issue might lead to having a cable provided in the box. Sadly, it's another example of a post-PC device which still needs a PC.

The PC is becoming the boot disk of the 80s/90s for post-PC devices.

Nice! Do you have pics of the setup posted anywhere?

I had to to an iTunes restore

I installed the OTA update on my ATV3. After going through steps 1 and 2 I got a rapid LED flash and a screen telling me to to an iTunes restore. Luckily I had an old micro USB cable laying around from an old Android phone. The restore was successful, and I'm up and running.

I'll be waiting prior to updating my other three ATV's...

Happened to me...

I had this happen to my 1080p AppleTV - powered off, no change. Restored - no change. Restored again - no change. Finally, after a restore plus power cycle it started in 6.0. It's been happy since - hoping it will stay that way, as I don't want to buy another before the next gen arrives.

Carthago delenda est: We need a public SDK and app store for the AppleTV.

My AppleTV definitely had this problem the first time I tried to update. I had to hook it up to my computer and iTunes to restore it. However, after the restore I was able to successfully update to 6.0. I haven't noticed any problems since then.

Hopefully Apple will get the update problems figured out soon. I'm glad I didn't have ongoing problems after the first failure!

Most non-Apple products are using micro-USB - I've got a Kindle Paperwhite, a polar GPS tracker and a couple of 2.5" external hard drives all using this.

ATV3 working

Updated to version 6.0 on ATV3. Slow upload, but all is in working order.

IOS7 update to iPhone 5 working and noting increase speed, etc ...

No, it's time for the same lame drivel on MacRumors to go...

Can we keep this new version if we want to or...?

Can we keep the update if we want to or will it uninstall automatically? I like the iTunes store and the radio works fine for me. If it ever goes bad I do have a micro USB to fix it.

I had already updated to 6- had no issues with it.
As I precaution I tried restoring via iTunes.
The restored ATV still has version 6 on it.

What gives?

There isn't that much hardware to test... this isn't a PC. Or even a Mac. There are a total of 3 hardware configurations - 2, 3, 3A. Some software variations ("have the users updated previously or not?"), but not that many.

My bricked (and fortunately recovered, after a couple of restores and power cable removals) ATV3 has never had any hacks/mods in any way installed - HW or SW.
