I wasn’t able to upgrade my home last week (I forget the error message, but it had something to do with there not being a home hub despite having an Apple TV, which was listed twice for some reason), so I ended up deleting it and making a new one. All I have are a bunch of Hue lights, so re-importing them from the Hue app and re-inviting family members only took a few minutes.

The HomeKit upgrade was the main reason I finally updated from iOS 15, as my lights had been flakier lately. I guess I’m in the minority, but most everything has been working flawlessly since I recreated the home (and since the app didn’t offer to upgrade, I’m assuming it was on the newest version). Seems more responsive, too, but maybe that’s a placebo effect.

The only bug I experienced was a sunset automation not firing off, but then I noticed the Apple TV has a location privacy setting for HomeKit, which was turned off. That automation previously worked without location services enabled.

i upgraded earlier today and everything was working fine until an hour ago when my iPhone got stuck with this Home control Center glitch.
had to hard reset to fix this since hitting Power button did nothing.
Had this exact same problem on 16.2RC - hard reset fixed it for me too.

I did upgrade and so far I’m sorry I did.

I have 2x AppleTv4K 2019
I have 1x AppleTV4K 2021
I have 1x Homepod mini

Before Homekit New Architecture (HNA), We had the option to enable/disable homekit hub on each AppleTV. That control was taken from us.

In my case homepod mini had only one function: Homekit bluetooth relay to my Front door NUKI lock, as all AppleTVs are well out of Bluetooth range of the NUKI lock and Apple does not allow NUKI door lock to use it’s WIFI bridge. The 2x AppleTV4k 2019s had their homekit hub function disabled as they are way out of Bluetooth reach if the NUKI lock, and also two homekit hubs (homepod and 2021 AppleTV4k, bot with matter support) seemed enough. This worked very well before HNA.

Since HNA I have the following issues with homekit:

1. Communication with NUKI lock times out often. So asking Siri to (un)lock my door is now broken. I assume now all AppleTVs are trying to talk Bluetooth with the NUKI lock, and don’t remember that the Homepod is the only one with a decent connection to the NUKI lock.

2. Homekit notifications are now unreliable. Some motion sensors and the door send me notifications, setup in homekit. Used to work fine. Now I hardly receive any notifications.

I also have 20x Philips Hue lights and 10x IKEA Tradfri plugs. I have several scene’s and automations that trigger many of these devices and do notice that since HNA these scenes run faster and more reliable.

I suppose we should be happy that Apple has admitted there are issues with HNA and hope they fix things quickly.

My (admin, owner) account works fine, my wife's (admin resident) was a shambles, after updating, Home wouldn't see the home and kept wanting to set up a new one, sending invites dropped off and occasionally I'd see a list of all the invites, then they'd disappear. All the while, she can still voice control the home, just couldn't see it on her iPhone or iPad... When I did get her added back, trying to do settings kept resulting in 'Unable to change user's settings'... Now seems to be stable after lots of repeated stabbing around, but thats only because I don't want to change anything :S

Great! So now I’m stuck with a homekit setup that only works on my iPhone, none of my family members, whom I invite, get access. And yes they all run 16.2 and have upgraded to the new architecture. All worked before this update. Extremely annoying!

Apple has not yet realised that as long as it puts its monkeys writing code on iOS and MacOS at most they destroy the battery and performance of the device, but when it starts doing the same nonsense on sw it's about health and safety, such as Apple Watch, HomeKit and CarPlay, allows imbeciles to write wrong code is for criminals.
And to say that I have been repeating it to them since 2018, from how much they destroyed the backward compatibility with hw, according to them, supported, which instead no longer worked because they had to buy the new one. And from that moment, that I couldn't even turn on a light in the house or enter the house, Apple tells nonsense and is getting worse and worse.

All good after the upgrade here - and I’d say my devices are reacting noticeably quicker than before the upgrade. No issues with scenes etc, and the upgrade was very quick. I’ve got Apple TV 4K, Hue bridge/lights, and Meross plugs.

ive planned my homekit update for next summer when i dont need my lights and heaters etc.
i dont think, its a good idea to update in christmas time / winter.
what i heard, there is no plan b when convertion fails and you cant go back.

good luck to all of you, who have „courage“ ✌🏽

Probably the best advice I've regarding the new architecture, 😂

I’d suggest you take a backup like someone pointed out in the comments and then recreate your home.

It was one of the features I was most excited about. My old HomePods updated ok, but I never saw the option to upgrade the HomeKit setup, and based on this article, thank goodness it never came up!

Still on iOS15 on my iPad Pro because it can’t be a home hub anymore with iOS 16… I don’t have any Apple TV or HomePod, and I do not have any intention to buy one just for use it as just a hub. Shame on Apple 😓

I did the upgrade and I’m loving it, a lot of my old broken automations are working well now and everything is much faster

Likewise having a good experience with this update, specifically faster responses from hardware bridges e.g Hue, Tradfri, Caseta. No issues with software bridges (Homebridge and child bridges) or automations either.

Anyone using the new architecture with Homebridge? And by any chance with the older version 1.5.1 (the newer doesn't work on Synology)?
