Apple has pulled an ad for the iPhone 16 that depicted a "more personal Siri," following the company's admission last week that it is delaying some of the Apple Intelligence Siri features that it originally expected to release in iOS 18.

English actor Isabella Ramsey starred in the now-private YouTube video, one of a trio published in September ahead of iPhone 16 pre-orders, in which they are shown asking Siri the name of a person they had a meeting with at a particular restaurant the previous month. The video was also unofficially shared on Instagram, which we've embedded below.

Apple had described the ad in the following way:
Equipped with awareness of your personal context, the ability to take action in and across apps, and richer language understanding, Siri will be able to assist you like never before.

Apple says that it is going to take longer than expected to roll out the more personalized ‌Siri‌ experience, and that these features will be rolled out "in the coming year."

It’s like MHBHD always says, never buy a phone with the promise of future software updates. Buy it for what it is now.

Immediately thought of this quote as well! Here in Germany it was pretty easy to hold out as they went straight ahead with dismissing Apple Intelligence until 2025, but at this rate I'll wait for the iPhone 18, lol. After all my 14 pro is still banging.

The features were advertised to be coming later. So if they come at all (1 to 2 years range) it's not false advertising. You're going to lose that lawsuit.
"reasonable expectations". there are consumer protection laws that say manufacturers can't advertise features that don't exist. Otherwise, any company could advertise crazy futuristic features saying they will come later. It's BS. Apple's intentions were to have AI sooner than later but is failing.

Is iPhone 17 (1 year) or iPhone 18 (2 years) reasonable? Not to people who bought an iPhone 16 based on AI promises. That clearly shows Apple should have waited to announce it on the iPhone 17 or 18.

Reminds me of how bad Apple got with advertising Apple AirPower pad only to go and cancel it 😂🤣👎🏻
I don't think there was ever a public ad campaign for AirPower (or whatever they named it). It was announced in a keynote.

This situation is much, much worse. Basically, Apple had sold a product on something they didn't have in a VERY public fashion. That means the functionality you see in the commercial is all mockup and not actually real. A deception.

Wow. Yeah, just remove the ad, no one will remember.
This years WWDC Keynote is going to be interesting. How is Tim Cook going to spin this into something magical.
They will just ignore it and apple influencer will not ask these kinds of questions.

Instead, they will add an sophisticated AI history option to the calculator app (only working on 16 pro) and end it with „we truly live in an age of wonders“

And they should be fined for it!

This is coming from a huge Apple fan and supporter. But when the lies start becoming so egregious, I have to wonder how much they deserve my admiration.
