So.. Class Action Lawsuit anybody? I asked Gemini and it feels we have a very strong case lol
Well unfortunately, Apple’s licensing terms say Apple software and services are provided “as is” and “as available”. Is that unfair? I’d say so. But if you want to bring a legal case, you have to make sure Apple hasn’t given themselves cover first.

Honestly, I think the shareholders might have a stronger case for a class action suit.

This is really starting to remind me of the 90's "Copland" debacle.

But, Apple never sold a Mac as running Copeland (or soon to run Copeland) publicly because it wasn't ready for prime time. It's OK to fail. It's not OK to sell a product with false advertisement that employs faked usage.

Talk about a bait and switch!

And how the hell does fixing Siri require more powerful hardware?!?!?!?

It’s simply unreliable and inconsistent. Isn’t that a programming and server side issue??

It’s like MHBHD always says, never buy a phone with the promise of future software updates. Buy it for what it is now.
This is unprecedented though. A feature announced as "coming soon" at a keynote and proliferated by tech journalists is one thing, but this is an ad that played for weeks on national TV advertising the iPhone 16 line, with no obvious stipulation of "Maybe in a future update, 1.5 years from now"

For me, the engineering team missing the mark is disappointing, but the more concerning thing is how colossal the internal communication failures have been at Apple to get to the point of filming and greenlighting an ad showcasing a feature that at best, was 6-8 months out, and at worst, over a year.

Don't buy a device based on promised features in the future, only buy a device based on the features it comes with delivered. It astonishes me that people still fall for this trap.
I bought my 16 Pro Max for battery life.

But, that doesn't change the fact that Apple sold a product on something they knowingly didn't have. They basically faked the usage in the commercial. Trust in the company has now been greatly eroded.

I don't think there was ever a public ad campaign for AirPower (or whatever they named it). It was announced in a keynote.

This situation is much, much worse. Basically, Apple had sold a product on something they didn't have in a VERY public fashion. That means the functionality you see in the commercial is all mockup and not actually real. A deception.

That's not necessarily what it means.

It's just as possible that Apple had a early alpha version of AI powered Siri, and they just used footage of the few times that it worked as intended for the ad.

iOS 18 has been the biggest flop in the history of iPhone Software. And extremely buggy slow/unstable even in current iPhones.
Maybe all the Apple intelligence features weren’t there, but I am in the opposite side of the biggest flop in the history etc. it gave iOS a much needed makeover and for my associates, friends and family, it just worked.

Her expressions at the end of those ads always made me laugh.

They delivered more than the product.
