So...we should uncheck "Security Update 2020-005", leave just the "Supplemental Update" checked and do the update, then go back into Software Update and do the "Security Update 2020-005"? Or is the current order OK (Security Update, THEN Supplemental Update) as-is?

I would try to install the most current combo update to avoid potential issues.

The most current Combo Update for MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 that I see is "Post Date: Sep 26, 2019"
The combo update does not include any standalone security updates, so if you're trying to get the security update installed, you need to install specifically that update, not the combo.

Just install both. There's no issue with the two updates available now.

The worst of Catalina was the release of 10.15.6. Sometime in the early beta cycle Apple switched to a more recent Darwin Kernel with memory sandbox issues which as observed as making VM's crash, and on my computer randomly OS would crash. I provided feedback about this several times, still it ended up going official? 10.15.6 supplement was Apple going back to a earlier Darwin Kernel. Please note only a few Mac configs saw this.
10.15.7 is OK.

I am now on Big Sur beta 9 and I prefer it because of stability, also Safari 14 supports 4K/8K with VP9 playback better then Firefox could ever do.
Thanks for the info! Fingers crossed come final release Big Sur is ready for prime time.

That's unfortunate, wouldn't hurt if Apple updates the combo. Good to hear the update went well.
Apple never rolls security updates into the combo updater. There's no need to do so and it'd be a lot more work for Apple.

Yess, works fine and all updates done: cDock and memory usage normal. No more annoying messages in the logs.
Did you actually get cDock working after that Apple induced one-week horror show?
What version are you using? I have a valid license for version 3, but not for version 4.
I tried cDock once after the episode, but it just crashed the Dock constantly.

I am running Catalina and safari 14 and its a pig. It has an obvious memory leak because the amount of memory in use increases until it crashes. I have started using firefox until this gets resolved.

Does anyone know if this is a fixed version of the Security Update? I have been experiencing some slowness over the last week and while I have had the original, problematic security update for some time (as well as the supplemental update) and wasn't at first experiencing problems, I couldn't think of any other reason for slowness. I did a reinstall from recovery of Mojave last night, and both Security Update 2020-005 and the Supplemental Update appeared after. I did Supplemental which got me Safari 14, and am now leery of Security.

Apple pulled the problematic versions and replaced them. I installed them and didn't see any of the insane slowdown I did with the buggy update. Don't blame you regarding being leery of Security Updates. Given how widespread the problem was I have to ask what was Q&A doing to let that kind of bug out in the wild?

Appreciate the response, I’m gonna test out the supplemental alone for a day then install security.

The supplemental update and re-released security patches do not fix the Safari 14 problems with Mojave. I reinstalled Mojave and installed the 'alleged' fixed updates and Safari 14 still breaks under Mojave. The problem I have is that Safari 14 won't allow me to choose any files to upload to a site. Clicking on Choose File on any website will not bring up the Finder 'sheet' window to allow you to select a file. Nothing happens when you click on Choose File. Works in FireFox and Chrome, but not Safari 14.

Re-installed Mojave over itself to restore Safari 12 and avoiding the security updates or supplemental update that force Safari 14 to be installed.

The problem does not occur with Big Sur 11.1 Beta. But Big Sur 11.0.1 is full of bugs that are fixed in 11.1.

The most recent Mojave update also broke Google Drive File Stream on my MBA. I had to reinstall the OS and install all but the last update to make it work again.

Given how many problems that seem to be hitting Mojave's updates taking the plunge to Catalina despite loosing some 32-bit programs looks like it was the right choice.
