A shady move from Apple! Even though AirPods are fantastic, for example, they had a rating of under 4 of 5. I feel that a lot of products were bashed by reviews, but Apple should keep reviews public. Constructive criticism helps to improve future products overall.
Constructive criticism is different from fake reviews by people who have never even used the product.

Just look at this very website. Those poisoned by Apple-hate perfectly willing to give all of the Apple TV+ shows zero stars—even though they’d never seen them. And months before they’d even debuted.

Apple appears to have eliminated reviews from its online Apple Store, removing the options that customers previously had for both leaving reviews and viewing reviews.

Apple made the change over the weekend, and as of now, no products on the online store have reviews, so there's no way to tell how customers liked a given product.

Items like the Apple Pencil and the Lightning to 3.5mm headphone jack had hundreds of reviews at the time they were removed, as noted by AppleInsider. For example, a Wayback Machine archive of the original Apple Pencil from November 16 had more than 300 reviews, many of which were negative.

At the current time, product listings have no Ratings & Reviews section and it's not clear if Apple plans to return them, but it's looking like the change was made deliberately since it expands to the online store in multiple countries.

Don’t blame them, too many false reviews,
Way too many.

I don't see why any company should have reviews on their own websites. That's not their job, that's the job of product reviewers and 3rd party sites. Reviews are often tilted toward a loud negative minority, brigading, people who haven't even purchased things, etc. (see metacritic, etc.)

Not surprising. The Apple support forum also deletes any comment which dares to question the Apple way of doing things, its product problems, lies communicated in Apple stores etc. Apple is really trying to smother dissent and criticism. Tim is really taking lessons from his overlords in the far East.

You have the right to say it, but Apple doesn’t have the obligation of providing you with a platform for that. You can write it on your Facebook or Twitter or start a website with user ratings for Apple products.
Yea some people think being the ceo of biggest company in the world is very easy,
Would love to see some job titles of people leaving ridiculous comments,
Pretty sure customers and shareholders are all very happy. Who cares about miserable people that just criticize someone when there is no way the would be able or even know what it takes to run Apple.

Surprised it lasted as long as it did. I was impressed that they left such honest and negative reviews up. I guess if you want to find a review on a product you still can quite easily, just some other website now!

One step closer to just "auto charging Apple Card holders" for whatever they release and shipping it right to them.

No need to even promote the products - just have the trained customers auto purchase anything they make, since Apple is so "amazing" - just ask them..

I'm of two minds on this. On one hand, it's not right to silence people that are dissatisfied with a product. But on the other, I've owned A LOT of Apple computers, tablets, phones, and accessories of all shapes and sizes, and some of the reviews of stuff I've never had issues with, personally or company-wide, are just comical.

I will be the first one to call Apple on on their BS but this may be a good thing. There was a ton of fake reviews on products that wasn’t even out yet. Hell there was 3 reviews on the brand new battery case for the 11 with people giving it 5 stars saying it’s great and now they have 3 days of full battery. Even though it was a 5 star review it was a fake review because no one could possibly have the case hours after Apple announced the case. Hopefully Apple will have a “verified” purchase like amazon and bestbuy has.

If that's the case, it shouldn't be hard for Apple to delete any review that was posted for a product prior to its release date.

I have never had an Apple cable fail on me in 10 years. Most of the failures are down to the users mis handling them.
Making a cable is not rocket science, ofcourse the main concern for cable going back is everyday tear and wear, the quality of the cable is not judged how long it will last on its own, but how durable it is to handle that tear and wear

There's a hole in the logic there that "because you haven't had the problem, the reviews about said problem are comical"

(insinuation is that they are wrong)

It's funny how when an Apple product has bad reviews, Apple lovers would say those reviews were written by Apple haters. Because of course, Apple would never make a bad product or overcharge for it. SMH.

It seem like if "Apple lovers" are smart enough to know that a product review is from an Apple hater, then they'd also be smart enough to disregard those reviews, no?

Didn't the laws around publishers being responsible for user-generated content change with SOPA and PIPPA? I have seen a lot of sites forgo reviews since this went in to effect.

This may be lazy more than malicious.

So Apple was fine with this review outlet while they were making pretty decent products but since their quality has plummeted they notice that the reviews are becoming negative so they decide to close things down? A very mature and classy way to operate...

What about after the release? What do you do about all the fake 1-star reviews for AirPods—a product that has tens of millions of satisfied users?

If the rating has to be disregarded, what good is it?

Let’s face it—we live in a world of disinformation. Trust is hard to come by, and manipulation is easy.
