That was my initial thought also! They need someplace to start manufacturing the iCar.

Put that way it sounds bad, but in time we may find there was method to their madness?......We get a Buggy OS, 8GB iPhones, yet another Power Supply connector, a stupid Watch, and they are busy buying up real estate?!?!?
PRIORITIES ?!
Could be they intend to poach PayPal employees....
Goodbye, Nature!
At least they won't be building a mega church. Where I live, when beautiful acreage gets bought up, a mega church goes up. I could go on a rant about what that does to local infrastructure, but this is not the time or place.
Hmm...I do suppose they could make HQ for a new Apple cult, though. If they give me enough free stuff in exchange for converting people over to wearing the Apple Watch, I'd join. Excuse me while I go perfect my blank stare and eerie smile.
Obama sanctified iWindmill farm ready in 2020.
(The park was torn down again in 2021 after several of them bend over. Sir Ivy was quoted for saying "The wind blew from the wrong direction. No one could have anticipated that".)
No arguments from me there. And I've got nothing against churches per se. We've just had problems specifically with newer megachurches refusing to comply with drainage and runoff regulations and wanting to be treated like special snowflakes compared to businesses that buy up similar land and do their rightful share to minimize impact on environment and roads and infrastructure. It's not appropriate discussion for this thread so that's all I'll say.Free enterprise. Land goes up for sale, someone buys it.

I'm hoping whatever use Apple puts this land to, they'll be good neighbors and decent to the environment.

The CEO of Samsung announced this morning that they purchased 44 acres in a better location.
Well, I that respect Apple's current headquarters (in Cupertino) or the new campus they are building nearby there are similarly pretty close. This is pretty close to the TESLA factory in Fremont.
They do know that the SF area is a large earthquake certainty area, right?
I think this is either for Apple Car factories or it's a private running track so that Sir Jonathan can make himself even thinner.
I've owned a wired car, it's probably still somewhere in the attic.I haven't seen any wired cars in the wild.
Most of the automotive offices are up near Moffet Field inside larger building with the ceiling and floorspace for garage work. Most of these larger buildings are old Lockheed and or other former aerospace contractor buildings.I wonder where is BMW's research center in Silicon Valley? Maybe this will allow Apple to take the BMW i3 and turn it into a technology demonstrator for Apple's own autonomous driving technologies.
I'm surprised there was any land left in San Jose to purchase...
Oh yes because the U.S. isn't a country of over 350 million people that grows exponentially, it's a nation of perhaps 150k who either work for or will be working for apple...
The point was, there's a lot of job openings yet people complain they can't find work. I bet 8 out of 10 people don't even try.
In my city alone, there's entry level burger flipping jobs to construction work, to VP level openings. Yet I hear people complain all the time.

Fair enough.
Unless your a minority. Have a friend whom is african american applied for apple countless times. They call him talk is good until the interview and he graduated from the top college intuit area. Does apple in Cali even hire blacks? I never seen a black person working there
