If adoption numbers were good, Apple would be constantly touting it by now with press releases. Since they are likely bad, Apple wants to trick users into updating.

I believe people should give iOS 26 and Liquid Glass a chance. While iOS 18 wasn’t perfect until the end of its cycle, that’s not the point. I genuinely love iOS 26. Liquid Glass alone makes my phone feel brand new and luxurious. You can even tint it if legibility is an issue. The only current issue I’m facing is the clear icon bug that loads after swiping on the Home Screen. Otherwise, it’s been solid. Give it a try!

The problem with that is you can't go back if you don't like it. You download 26 and now you are stuck with something you don't like. It's worst on my mac with the borders and the borders on borders and stuff like that, but I'm willing to try new things but wish there was a way to go back if you end up not liking those new things.

Apple going to nag users like they do with iCloud!
Serious question: how is Apple nagging re iCloud? I have the standard 5GB at no cost, only use a little over 1 GB of it. Sure, somewhere in the menus it's asking if I want to turn on Photos sync but I don't feel "nagged" about that. As opposed to upgrading to the latest HomeKit (or whatever it's called) that show as "1" on the settings app, that is "nagging" for me...

Apple should take some of their own advice and get the update to 26.2 out before spouting off.
When 26.2 comes out, they'll probably remove the "also available" button entirely and will stop releasing iOS 18 security updates (except maybe for iPhones that can't run 26).

There is no such thing as "giving it a try" because if you try it and you don't like it, you're now stuck with it. The window to go back to iOS 18 closed on September 22.

lol, other than engagement, what do you get out of these conformist style takes?
.. perpetuating the correct idea that you should always stay up to date, not sure why you’re painting the word “conformist” in a negative light here

Upgrade to 26? Nope. I have an Oppo Find X9 Pro in shipment now to replace my 15+. Had Apple offered a "Disable" option for Liquid Glass, I would not have bought the Oppo. "Apple Arrogance" is slowly pushing me out of their garden and into the Android Universe.

Get to 5GB in your storage and you will get an upgrade your iCloud request all the time. You can't turn off the notification in settings either.

I completely agree with your point, but to be fair, that’s the one platform where you can go back.

Surprised to see how conservative many on this forum are bearing in mind that the whole perspective of Macrumors is to look forward, anticipate and embrace change.
Huh? How do you get that from this statement at the bottom of MacRumors pages:

MacRumors attracts a broad audience of both consumers and professionals interested in the latest technologies and products. We also boast an active community focused on purchasing decisions and technical aspects of the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and other Apple platforms.

As far as I can tell, the site reports rumors and facts (once they are no longer rumors) primarily focused on Apple-related topics. Those in the forums discuss the reporting and related topics. I have not found such reporting to be particularly biased toward anything you stated.

I see, well, for me, that is very unlikely to happen for many more years ...

I think the glass effect looks cool, but it's going to hammer my C/GPU. So, I'll pass until I upgrade in a few more years.

I find it amazing what some people find annoying or deal breaking with 26. I messed with it enough that it is clean and nothing major or minor makes me think it’s trash or Apples worst update.

I’m just a little surprised they didn’t wait until 26.2 to start doing this. It’s not that 26 is terrible but it does need more time to finish.

Makes me wonder if 26.2 itself isn’t a little behind schedule.
