If adoption numbers were good, Apple would be constantly touting it by now with press releases. Since they are likely bad, Apple wants to trick users into updating.
The problem with that is you can't go back if you don't like it. You download 26 and now you are stuck with something you don't like. It's worst on my mac with the borders and the borders on borders and stuff like that, but I'm willing to try new things but wish there was a way to go back if you end up not liking those new things.I believe people should give iOS 26 and Liquid Glass a chance. While iOS 18 wasn’t perfect until the end of its cycle, that’s not the point. I genuinely love iOS 26. Liquid Glass alone makes my phone feel brand new and luxurious. You can even tint it if legibility is an issue. The only current issue I’m facing is the clear icon bug that loads after swiping on the Home Screen. Otherwise, it’s been solid. Give it a try!
Serious question: how is Apple nagging re iCloud? I have the standard 5GB at no cost, only use a little over 1 GB of it. Sure, somewhere in the menus it's asking if I want to turn on Photos sync but I don't feel "nagged" about that. As opposed to upgrading to the latest HomeKit (or whatever it's called) that show as "1" on the settings app, that is "nagging" for me...Apple going to nag users like they do with iCloud!
When 26.2 comes out, they'll probably remove the "also available" button entirely and will stop releasing iOS 18 security updates (except maybe for iPhones that can't run 26).Apple should take some of their own advice and get the update to 26.2 out before spouting off.
lol, other than engagement, what do you get out of these conformist style takes?Good. I know I’ll get flamed for saying this but I don’t care - should’ve been like this from the start
That’s exactly what will happen. When 26.2 comes out, they'll probably remove the "also available" button entirely and will stop releasing iOS 18 security updates (except maybe for iPhone's that can't run 26).
There is no such thing as "giving it a try" because if you try it and you don't like it, you're now stuck with it. The window to go back to iOS 18 closed on September 22.I believe people should give iOS 26 and Liquid Glass a chance. While iOS 18 wasn’t perfect until the end of its cycle, that’s not the point. .. perpetuating the correct idea that you should always stay up to date, not sure why you’re painting the word “conformist” in a negative light herelol, other than engagement, what do you get out of these conformist style takes?
Get to 5GB in your storage and you will get an upgrade your iCloud request all the time. You can't turn off the notification in settings either.Serious question: how is Apple nagging re iCloud? I completely agree with your point, but to be fair, that’s the one platform where you can go back. The problem with that is you can't go back if you don't like it. You download 26 and now you are stuck with something you don't like. It's worst on my mac with the borders and the borders on borders and stuff like that, but I'm willing to try new things but wish there was a way to go back if you end up not liking those new things.
Huh? How do you get that from this statement at the bottom of MacRumors pages:Surprised to see how conservative many on this forum are bearing in mind that the whole perspective of Macrumors is to look forward, anticipate and embrace change.
MacRumors attracts a broad audience of both consumers and professionals interested in the latest technologies and products. We also boast an active community focused on purchasing decisions and technical aspects of the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and other Apple platforms.
I see, well, for me, that is very unlikely to happen for many more years ...Get to 5GB in your storage and you will get an upgrade your iCloud request all the time. You can't turn off the notification in settings either.
I find it amazing what some people find annoying or deal breaking with 26. I messed with it enough that it is clean and nothing major or minor makes me think it’s trash or Apples worst update.
