I mean if we're going to strawman argue: So you believe states should design the entire product and force companies to make it for them?
perhaps I misunderstood you.

It seemed you were saying that the eu was overstepping it's authority by regulating what a corporation could or could not do

Do you think it's ok if EU said "Apple must make iOS operating system software available to all phone manufacturers to install on their phones"? Or "Apple must sell their A/M chips to any manufacturer that wants it at a fair price"?

Or do you think EU can draw the line wherever it wants and never overstep?

Do you understand where I'm going with this?

is the eu saying that?

That's certainly a vague and unsupported claim. What law protects companies who hack into their competitor's infrastructure to use their private servers to store and process data while profiting off their bandwidth?
If you saw my OP you’d have had a hint. It’s not hard to research what law. Also, if you listen to MKBHD’s podcast they cover it in some detail….. or you can be lazy and just make accusations that my claim is unsupported……. I’m not here to spoon feed you the information.

Also, if they broke the law, Apple would have them in court….. so( the fact they’ve not should clue you in that what was done was not illegal……

Going back through a few posts, it looks like you were possibly referring to the interoperability rules in the DMCA. Obviously, nothing in the DMCA protects companies who hack into their competitor's infrastructure to use their private servers to store and process data while profiting off their bandwidth.

So I still don't know what you are referring to.

That's nonsense. People break the law all the time and aren't in court. The fact that they aren't in court after a week or two is meaningless.

Your vending machine analogy is lame. This would be proving a better experience to the iPhone user. The fact the android user on the other end gets a better experience as well costs Apple no extra money unlike your example. If you're just trying to protect some exclusive club status then by all means keep this stance. Cost is not the reason Apple won't all this though.
How can you say this doesn't cost money? Servers cost money, electricity isn't free, every message sent via iMessage cost money. There are almost 9 billion iMessages sent and 23 billion sms messages sent per day. If even a half of those where to switch to Apple servers, that would cost apple double what they are paying now for infrastructure.

My Vending machine analogy was crap because there are no good example of companies giving away services for free. Reddit tried for a while and as soon as they tried to charge, the whole internet revolted, better Apple shut this down now before a ton of companies start relying on an API that gets shutdown later with people losing jobs, like with Reddit and all of those clients.

How do you know that?

Anybody using the app could send and receive iMessages by only providing a phone number, no additional authentication was needed. How can you be sure that someone using a spoofing SIM card (using the same phone number as of an existing iMessage user) wouldn't be able to send/receive messages simultaneously with the genuine iMessage user? Usually iMessages can be received on multiple devices at the same time, so the spoofing number is yet another device pretending to be a user that it isn't. That has nothing to do with E2E which only guarantees encryption between the two parties but doesn't guarantee their identity which is exactly the concern I am raising.
What you are describing here is exactly what is happening to me. iMessages are appearing on my phone from a stalker. I say appearing because they look like I am writing them to myself. These messages appear as blue bubbles, there are no notifications, I know there is a new message when the conversation with myself appears as my most recent conversation. I'm a newbie on MacRumors and totally out of my depth tbh. I came here to ask if anyone could shed light on how this is happening. Any help even pointing me in right direction as to which forum to post a question would be really appreciated.

If this isnt trolling, go to Settings>Your Name and then remove any devices you don’t recognize. Then change your appleID password and turn on two factor authentication. Update your device if it is not on 17.4. If you recognize all of the devices, I recommend checking for gas leaks.

Not trolling and not crazy, just looking for answers. I don't blame you for the skepticism though, I would think the same. I did immediately logout and change my appleID password. I have no unrecognized devices listed.
