They said all devices impacted were manufactured before Oct. 2020…. So unless the replacements are old refurbished using the same defective parts, you may have a hard time getting them replaced again…
It's true, my earbuds aren't covered under the recall, but they are defective and therefore should be covered under warranty. During my chat with the technician they stated that the replacements under warranty "didn't have the same failure rate," whatever that means.

I was able get a pair of APPs replaced yesterday, and they were manufactured after October 2020.

Hi everyone,

I've got this issue and have arranged a mail in option, apparently it's a seven working day turnaround. I just wanted to check if anyone in the UK has used this process? Did you get a repair or replacement? How long did it take?

Thanks

Apple does not repair the earbuds or case. They will always replace the individual AirPod and/or case if they find issues. Apple can replace one Airpod or both. It is also possible to get back a serial number different from your original Airpods if they replace the charging case.

Apple has a separate serial number for each AirPod and another for the Case. At least this is true for my AirPod Pro and AirPod Pro 2.

I wish all companies were as good as Apple when it comes to admitting problems with products, and instituting repair programs. The fact no other company can do this is why I always choose Apple for every kind of purchase I can.
It's not all paradise out there with this company. For me it appears that my AirPod Pros 1st Gen have exhibited the exact same issue as listed in other forums but I was rejected by the Genius bar in Thousand Oaks, CA yesterday as my set of AirPod Pros were manufactured in November of 2020 rather than October of 2020. To fix those "geniuses" asked for $180. If Apple is going to nickel and dime their manufacturing issues they won't just get customers who won't come back. They'll get customers who will respond with deliberate vitriol. I don't mind watching that when a corporation deserves it.

Don't delay going to the Apple Store / mailing them in for repair. My right airpod has had static issue for much of this year. I thought firmware update would eventually fix it. However, just learned it was a known issue and about the repair program a few days ago. When I looked up the duration, it's 3 years from purchase day. For me, that expired last month, so I might not get a free replacement. I'm going into the Apple Store today for repair, so we'll see if I have pay for repairs or not.

My money is on Apple telling me "you snooze you lose" and charging me for repairs.

Would any other manufacturer replace headphones after over 3 years from purchase?
