I'm still a little unclear why Apple didn't just add the Power TouchID button to the iPhone 13 line-up to have in addition to FaceID. Maybe cost, but still, moving forward I really think they should have multiple biometric options of getting into one's device. But maybe there are some logistical/security issues they want to work through like they did with adding the Apple Watch as an authenticator for unlock.
I rather think it’s because they want to promote FaceID and sell watches.
but totally agree, both would be perfect. Many androids flagship feature fingerprint and retina scanner

At this point, the majority of customers buying the SE are price sensitive. So no need for 256GB. When SE came out last year, you could argue some were looking for a new device with a small form factor. Today, you can buy the iPhone 12 and 13 mini.
At this point? No. At every point, from the beginning of the product line. Despite what forum whiners would have you believe, these products do not exist to serve a size. They exist to serve a price, period. They always have.

Even the very first iPhone SE where Apple stood up there and said some people like 4" size....baloney. They knew it, you knew, I knew it, everyone knows it. It was there to be $399 iPhone. End of story.

I agree completely, but didn't want to trigger the people who still believe SE was made for size rather than price. 😁

The purpose of iPhone SE (2016) and SE (2020) is to cater to the budget segment (subjective) and a certain set of consumers who prefer the classic design or smaller form factor or both...

iPhone SE (2016) was for a time the newest iPhone (in terms of release date) that still offered the headphone jack... And many prefer it due to being compact and pocket-friendly and [insert the iPhone 5 ad]...

iPhone SE (2020) was for a time a flagship-like device that has a not so flagship price... Although I think the only thing new in it was the chipset and everything else was virtually identical as with the iPhone 8...

In both cases, people buy them for they are the entry-level option and not everyone needs/wants the features available in the higher price models...

This wasn’t fair as those who wanted the 256gb option to buy online. I dealt with this problem yesterday. Went to the Apple Store and got the SE in 256GB. Apparently you cannot use Military Discount in store? APPLE!! This wasn’t okay so the employee she helped me set up the online order and verification only to find out the SE 256GB model online has been removed from the Apple Store this confused most the employees. So they offered to help me get accessories for the equivalent of the discount which is the only thing they could do to really make this right it’s better than nothing.

I don't mind triggering them. They've had their day with whining the iPhone mini into existence and then failing to turn up and buy it. Next year it will no longer be offered as a flagship model, and they can resume whining while also not buying.

I see this quietly headline quite often when Apple removes older models.. do they ever loudly remove a product? lol

Let me quietly close this tab. (I love when y'all use quietly, MR, please never stop using it.)

Well, crap.

The 256GB was the only one I'd have ordered in the next month or so. Hell, they could offer it with a 512gb option and it'd be perfect.

Will have to watch for refurbs I guess?

Thanks Tim.

Shrug.

Some of us just want a f'in home button, and as much storage as we can get?

I'd love an updated SE with the A15, 1TB storage and upgraded (iPhone 12/13) cameras...

Sadly, Apple doesn't seem to want my money enough to sell an Phone I'd want to pay for...

'Cheap people' don't get the good things. Apple is in the business to sell things, I know, *SHOCK*, but if they still sold the older models in the larger sizes, people wouldn't feel the need to buy the newer, now larger, iPhones.

Apple isn't being 'naughty', they are being 'prudent'. And they have done this time and time again in the past...

Looking at the sizes, I'm surprised they didn't discontinue the 128 too.

Plenty of people buying the SE aren't cheap?

We just want a f'in home button/TouchID and a usable amount of storage?

Totally get it. I freaked out about not having a home button, but it's not so bad. Now, my older iPad is rather anachronistic. A throwback because now everything I own is missing the button, and headphone jack. And the call it progress...

I really do hope they release an SE Plus / 8 Plus with the A15.

That would be the bomb.
- it solves the battery life issue on the current SE
- I also wouldnt mind an upgraded SE 4.7”. Perhaps the A15 would be more power efficient giving a more decent battery life

It does not need an OLED honestly. I have been using the SE for over a year then I tried the 12 mini for a few weeks I couldn’t tell much difference. There was that initial screen fatigue due the the change from LCD to OLED.
But I wouldn’t want to adjust my eyes to OLED considering my old iPad Pro and retina MBA are using LCD. Adjusting to OLED on the phone would mess up my eyes having to adjust to all these devices when I use them.

I do wish they had added a side button Touch ID for the latest phones. Give users the options. But really, it would give the designers a massive headache; on which side of the phone do we put the Touch ID? What about people with different dexterity?

I love the Touch ID for
- Less swiping on screen. Less tiring on the thumb/finger muscles. Going to home menu? Removing notifications? Just press the touch ID home button
- Reachability. Just tap the touch ID twice
- Unlocking your phone to read notifications off the lock screen. Very convenient. Face ID can’t do this.

I hope the rumoured on-screen fingerprint sensor allows us to do all these. Otherwise i’m happy sticking with the current design. Just trim the top and bottom bezels a bit for a more futuristic look.
