But not Apple Music. I don't think you can argue there is some hole in ... music streaming before Apple Music.

I don't know where one would stream music on demand before Apple Music. Sure, there was Pandora, with their radio stations, and Spotify.. But with Apple Music, pay a monthly fee and listen to ANYTHING you want, any time? I'm loving it.
My wife, too, can call up all her favorite albums on a whim. It's wonderful.

Honestly I think this will fail. First of all because normally when Apple pushes something content related it is to help sell another existing product. Music and for the iPod. TV shows and Movies for iOS devices. The only reason they released Apple Music was to directly compete with Spotify and Groove music and they already had a good foot hold in with the Music Industry. Apple going into the Movie and TV industry makes no sense because it doesn't compliment any existing product line, unless they make it where you have to have an Apple TV to work on your TV which I think will be another point of failure. It's really just them freaking out and doing a knee jerk reaction to Hulu and Netflix and the fact they don't have the content catalog in place or a specific brand content that has a huge following, i.e. Marvel movies and TV shows.
Second Spotify and Hulu just announced the other day that if you Sign up for the 9.99 Spotify premium plan( which IMO is already a much better value then Apple music) you also get a free account to Hulu. It might be the one where you have to watch ADs but that's a really good value so why would you go with Apple? Another reason is Apple probably will only work on Apple devices where Spotify and Hulu work on any Device and for family's that have a mix of brand products its a huge win. I'm not an Apple hater and wish they would fail btw but this is one area where I just don't understand why they would even try.

I would love for their TV service to be successful and priced lower than the other streaming services while offering packages as good or better, however, I just do not see that happening. Apple has not really been that innovating as of late, so they give me zero reason to think they can even pull this off.

I have DirecTV Now, and really like it, but would possibly drop it (especially with the news today of the $10 price hike) if Apple offered something like I described above. Here is hoping Apple proves me wrong!

Why are Apple in such a hurry these days.?

Slow down.. No one's going away if its not announced.

But Netflix produces trash though. It just doesn't take a lot of effort to be better.
Tell that too the millions who probably subscribed to Netflix just for one show they really were interested in and then stayed because of the huge amount of content. What you think of trash is someone else's happiness. What does Apple have right now production wise to make people want to pay another subscription plan... Nothing. This isn't like everything else where people can go all Apple and get everything they want. People already have multiple subscriptions to Hulu and Netflix just so they can get everything. If you want to watch anything Disney or Marvel related you have to add that in as well and some people will do because they have established programs and movies they know they want to see. All Apple has is people singing in a car right now. People aren't willing to add another subscription unless they know for sure there is something worth it. I could be wrong, maybe Apple made a deal with Netflix, Hulu, CBS now, Disney and Marvel and all the other big name companies for a tv plan that adds all this and regular channels.

It doesn’t matter. Netflix barely has over a 100m while catering to everyone. Apple will struggle at at adding users while spending billions on content. It’ll never break even.

Things will have to seamlessly for apple to have a chance. And what’s the prize if apple surprises everyone? An insignificant bump in services revenue.

This is nothing but a big smokescreen to blow past all the negativity It’s easy to talk about. But in the end it’s a lot of talk about nothing and will do nothing to address any concerns.

Pffff... Apple pay was released in 2014, last year (2018) 2 banks in Belgium introduced it, in the Netherlands it's still unavailable. eSIM is the same story (even worse): not available; So, if Apple would start by providing access to what they already have in hardware, that would be a nice start. Why buy a new Watch or iPhone? No eSIM, no (upgraded) health monitoring, no Apple Pay,... and no content if they launch US based News app.
Do they fall back on US market? Fine, but I'm not going to update the Apple gear of my family: no need to, and far too expensive for NOTHING new (that we can use). So keep on dreaming over there in the US. But expect sales to take another dive.

That's the truth.

I just unsubscribed from Netflix… It is a huge amount of trash.

Then again, so are the films showing in cinemas right now… television is a dumpster truck fire…

Race to the bottom it seems.
