For example, people who use Adobe apps will immediately see benefits from these super-performant iPads Pros. Every year we see more and more advanced applications making their way to iPad Pro - with better UI, improved functionality, and delightful experience. These latest updates will only broaden the appeal to developers.

I expect Final Cut Pro and Xcode will be coming soon.

Anything that allows for a richer, smoother, more refined user experience is far from overkill.

Can’t say I use the lite or toy versions on iPad though. Adobe took forever with photoshop lite and is still garbage. And stop with the final cut or Xcode stuff. This is mentioned every year apple releases a killer iPad.

I've never been so hyped about the coming WWDC. This M1 in the iPad just beggggggs for macOS on iPad, or at least some kind of cross-over.
Can't wait for the new software updates that these iPads are getting this year =D

I'm most excited by the extra RAM. On my current Ipad, the "desktop-class" web browser will crash under the most demanding web apps. This goes double when you try to do side-by-side multitasking.

Yes, WWDC should be interesting — imagining what the extra memory in the iPads Pro will mean for forthcoming apps — Logic and Final Cut could be a possibility!

The new 12.9" is the best iPad Apple has ever made. Customer demand to acquire one will be off-the-charts. Stock is expected to be extremely constrained for months, so you'll need to be online the moment orders go live if you want a launch day delivery.

These will be readily available, trust me. No one is beating down the doors to get one. Majority of the public doesn’t even know it exists lol.

I wish this iPad Pro can switch over to either MacOS or iPadOS on a M1 chipset.

Only if and when this happens will I consider getting a “Pro”.

IMO, the way things are right now, Air 2020 is the best Apple’s offering that should easily handle everything for 3-4 years from now.

The new M1 iPads are using top-notch hardware limited by iPadOS. It is like driving a Ferrari in a 50 km/h speed limit zone - lots of revs for nothing.

Even if Apple really surprise us with unleashing something big with iPadOS 15, it will take a while to trickle down to end-users, a bit like it was with the “forward thinking” 64-bit iPhone 5. By the time the developers did their thing, it was pretty much iPhone 6 time.

Of course, if you have cash to burn on the “potential benefits” and it fills you with joy, this is one thing, but I would not lose sleep over it. 🖐

I agree and I also welcome any form of progress in software and hardware, yet Apple also have a tendency to rip their first wave customers off. Their tech matures over time, while also getting more affordable. For example, the best home button ever (virtual, so no physical wear-tear possible) is now on their cheapest iPhone SE. It just depends on our wants and needs after all.

I had a dream about these new iPad Pros smh (sad, I know). They were UNUSUALLY thick in person for some reason haha, but still really cool.

I really want to upgrade my 2018 12.9”, but just can’t justify it. 😞

If I were the usual type of MacRumors user, I'd be hectoring you for evidence by now…

Same here. I am coming up to speed on Xcode and Swift development, so I am going to take the entire week of WWDC off. Add in all the new stuff announced earlier this week plus more new stuff likely to be announced at WWDC, and this year's WWDC is going to be great.

Do you work for Apple’s PR department by any chance. I certainly won’t be upgrading my existing iPad Pro for the new one at those prices.

I just wish the Retina XDR display was on the 11" also. The larger one is just a bit too large for me to travel with.

I actually don't. The 12.9" got another 8-9% heavier (and about 10% thicker). Now before everyone comes hating, I know I know that's not much. But the 11" is a portable reading device for me, not a content creation/video editing wonder. So small and light are more important to me than heavier and bigger.

You might find it more valuable taking the week after WWDC off, since it’s async anyways, and many questions raised by the sessions get answered in blogs etc a little later.

I agree with you completely in regards to the thickens of the device. They are meant to be light and ergonomic to use. I don't understand the people who are willing to trade that for more battery life (which nowdays is already great) , but each to their own.

Good idea. But I will probably be so excited about it during the actual week of WWDC so that is why I want to take the actual week off. Last year I was really excited about the WWDC, and that was only because I hoped / expected they would announce the new Apple Silicon and so I took off that Monday so I could watch the key note session "live". :)

And then I can circle back after that week to watch the sessions I couldn't see, since I expect there will be more good sessions I want to watch than I can see during the week of WWDC. 👍
