Touchbar is purely a gimmick, no benefit whatsoever, with a large hike in cost/price, should have never been introduced.
For some (especially those who live in Xcode like myself) the Touchbar is far worse than a gimmick... don't know how much time I've wasted because of slight brushes that registered on the TB (causing builds/runs, stopping a debug session, etc.)... I'd pay *more* to have FN keys back.

I care if they could minimize the bezels on the iMac to either make the display bigger and show more content, or maintain current display size and reduce the overall footprint. This matters on a non-portable machine when organizing your desk is like real estate

The whole bezels on an iMac is somewhat off-topic on a laptop thread, but I actually agree and never thought I would hear myself saying so. I've not looked at an iMac in ages as I'm just not into all in one computers. However something peaked my attention with the iMac Pro. Having seen one however it is now showing its age. My 4 year old Dell monitors (P2715Q) look cutting edge in comparison and they were never cutting edge. The design needs a refresh and the iMac also needs 10GigE too.
[doublepost=1562145693][/doublepost]So long as Apple persist with the butterfly keyboard and touch bar the MBP will be a non-starter for me. I like keys with some travel and the touch bar is just a gimmick. I also need the keyboard to be reliable. Never in the history of computing have I heard of a keyboard with as many failures as butterfly keyboard - just because you can make something thin, doesn't mean to say you should. I've seen $150 Chromebooks with better keyboards.

Some ports other than USB-C/TB3 would be useful too.

If it is a truly redesigned machine, they might have a dual-core base model with 16GB RAM, and a quad-core model with 32GB RAM.

I doubt the RAM option, given the flagship TB model doesn't even offer a 32GB option yet.

Sorry I was wrong. Although technically flagship TB do offer 32GB, but only on the 15" model. 13" don't have that option yet. So that means this updated model will likely still be 16GB Max.

Much better performance than MBA, still not as powerful as the TB MBP with 28w CPU & Iris Pro graphics.

Not Dual Core, Quad Core.

I am going to assume Apple wants to keep the same price range as the current MBP $1299 - $1499. In that case I doubt Apple will offer Quad Core Icelake as a starting point.

I would hope that Apple would at least drop the pricing on the MacBook Air. It really should be $999...even if it means dropping the current Air config to $999 and offering up Ice Lake in the Air at 1,199 and 1,399. Just my 2¢.

I'm sure you've already submitted feedback to Apple directly, but if not:

If you read my post, I say there is going to be a base model with a dual-core, and then a model with a quad-core. The current 13" w/ TB has a quad-core CPU, so why are people saying it cannot be quad-core, especially with Ice Lake, because Intel does not make 15w dual-core cpu's anymore.

Also, I think they will bring 32GB RAM to the higher end (quad-core) model, and so does 9to5Mac:

better keyboard, from key travel to the coating. that stuff wears off rather quickly and makes an expensive notebook appear to be very cheap and ugly.

I would also like thinner bezels, honestly they can do away with the FaceTime camera if that's what it takes.

I agree with everything you said, except getting rid of the FaceTime camera. I use my MBP's FaceTime camera quite a bit, such as to do meetings, and obviously to FaceTime family and friends.

They do need to UPGRADE the damn camera across all the MacBook lines. Eventually we will get FaceID, which will give us a decent camera (just like on your iPhone X/XS/XS Max) but until then the least Apple could do is put a decent FaceTime camera in these expensive ass machines!

Approved for lousy keyboards, busted displays, and hot hot batteries.

Need a logic board replaced?

And to add further insult: There's still no real Delete key on Apple's laptops, and you can't even add one to the emoji bar. WTF?

What are you blathering about? Of course there's a real delete key, there's always been a real delete key on the Macintosh, the delete key has been here since the original 128K Macintosh.

Are you talking about one of those idiotic 'forward delete' keys that those poor saps on Windoze have to push with control and alt all the time? We have no need of that nonsense.

I think this will be an updated 13" MBP without the Touch Bar bringing it more in line with the current TB model which just received a spec bump. A 13" MBP with support for 32GB of RAM is probably coming but I doubt Apple will do a spec bump just to do a spec bump again a couple of months later. The non-TB 13" MBP hasn't been updated in two years, it's still running 7th Generation Intel hardware.

I like the way you ironically express cultist behavior to make us all realize how absurd it would look if people really behaved like that.

Also, I think they will bring 32GB RAM to the higher end (quad-core) model, and so does 9to5Mac:

The 32GB original post was before referencing Ming was before the May update of MBP. Since that didn't happen to 13", I doubt it will happen to this new base model. Again, base model, there is no way a base model will have the option of higher memory than higher end Touch Bar Model. Unless all our assumption this is going to be 13" MBP Escape update are wrong.

So...a clearer picture of the 7 registered models is starting to form:

#1 through #4: Cellular 12" MacBook, we know having that option takes up multiple model numbers.
#5: Major update to the non-touchbar 13" MBP.
#6: MacBook Air refresh with Ice Lake CPU, possibly what this particular leak is about.
#7: All new 16.4" MBP.

What are you blathering about? the whole mac is great and windows is awful BS needs to stop ASAP as both have pros and cons, the lack of a “forward delete” drives me crazy, when editing formula with excel for instance being able to delete in both directions is very often helpful.

Just because you don’t use it doesn’t mean other don’t, this is massive theme on this site...”I don’t use function X so it’s a waste of time and should be removed”...

Have you tried using fn + delete? Unless I'm misunderstanding, that should do what you want, albeit using two keys and not one.

Agreed; that attitude can be quite off-putting at times.
