The link means nothing and you like arguing with everyone over a relic Apple watch.
The link means that Apple is promising to replace the battery for $100 which it is not honoring. The watch is NOT “vintage” as you imply and still eligible for service.

Why aren’t they replacing your battery then? The amount of wasted time you spent going back and forth making no progress at all is priceless.

My opinion is that if the battery percentage is duff then there's a bigger problem that they can't/won't/aren't obliged cover on a 6 generation old watch.

I have no idea how much the OP earns (no desire to either TBH), but had they worked the hours they have spent on this they could easily afford a new series 10 with the money earned.

I will add the caveat that pre apple watch I usually broke the watch before the battery ran out. The one exception was a swatch, who offer free battery replacement, so maybe the OP should get a swatch?

Because I’m not doing this for me at this point - everyone that buys a watch is entitled to the services that are promised at the time of purchase.

Further - if Apple can’t make good on their promises it supports the EU regulators who are working to make other brands of smart watches fully compatible with the iPhone to further consumer choice.

This isn’t personal - this is for all consumers - I’m not working for me but to have better choices and service in the future for all consumers

For anyone curious - the eu investigation on interoperability of smart watches is here:

I wonder if they have received info from people already who have old batteries “stuck “ at 80+%. Easy to find online complaints across apple products where there is a unit swap vs. battery replacement - obviously not just the watches (AirPods, iPads come to mind).

No one carees besides you. Getting the EU involved in products just leads to higher prices.

if you -REALLY- want this done and Apple wont do it, DIY or pay someone who isnt Apple to do it.

i dont understand the controversy

Apple isnt your friend, they are a for-profit business. a business that can refuse service to anyone for any reason.

So the 'why' doesnt matter. you should focus more on 'how' you can get this done.

A business can not refuse service if they specify that service will be available at time of purchase.

Agree with this statement above 👆🏻

But if you are getting your Apple Watch repaired by non AASPs be careful… please look at the reviews and the services they provide. Some third parties would go ahead and replace the battery itself the same day without needing a replacement of the entire Apple Watch ⌚️

Businesses can refuse service when it falls out of their guidelines. Try taking Apple to court over this issue. The judge will dismiss the case immediately.
And it is all on the right to repair and consumer protection laws as well.

Apple told me **in writing ** that the estimated health of my battery is between 60-65% so it’s well within guidelines.
