Its the low end of the iPhone 12 lineup. I suppose it’s mid range if you include the SE.

I’m not shifting any goalposts, and I’m not making any predictions or pretending I know anything about what other people want (and in what numbers). I’m not one of those people who says “if they did this it would sell like hot cakes”. I’m just pointing out faulty logic: poor sales of a small low end iPhone doesn’t demonstrate lack of demand for a small high end iPhone. People currently have to choose between small and high end - the fact they’re choosing high end doesn’t mean they wouldn’t pick both if it was an option. I’m not saying they necessarily would, I’m saying we don’t know, there isn’t evidence.

Apple is still selling the 11, the XR and, as you said, the SE. If you only limit yourself to the 12 lineup then you might be technically correct, but I'm really not convinced describing the regular 12 and 12 Mini as low end is justified, but let's agree to disagree on that.

On the actual point: I never claimed I had definitive proof or evidence for lack of demand. I voiced the opinion/assessment that I believe that there isn't really demand for a small high-end phone because it didn't really play out that way in the closest comparable case for which we have (sort of) data.

Is it possible that a Mini Pro would sell well? Sure. Is the only way we would ever know for certain for Apple to sell the device. Yes, absolutely. But this is a discussion forum and we have to work with the data and experience we have.

I see seven model numbers, and that doesn’t fit with the 4 categories we expect.

Last year those 4 categories had 9 listed

The US and the "other countries" versions of each model. But the 9th one was the China/HK version of the iPhone 12 Pro. The special China/HK model of the 12 and 12 Pro Max weren't listed (all 3 have special versions which take dual nanoSIM cards).

In conclusion - all that this tells us is that Apple is releasing new iPhones of some kind. Which isn't really even news. The listings in these databases have never been exhaustive.

Should be announced in September. What will it be called though? 12s or 13? 🤔

P

Yeah, most probably. And I’d be fine with that.

Anyways, if this year’s iPhone is called 12S, then next year’s will be the iPhone 13.
There will never be an iPhone 13. It’ll be 12s this year, then a new design and new naming system in 2022. You’ll see.

Except for the jump to 10 we had every number from the 3G onwards. Skipping 13 will be a surprise.

Same CPU = Pro baby, don’t sweat it.

Hold on sugar, that’s my microphone don’t get it wet /s.

Same here - cannot wait!
Nah, Pro = shinier. Everyone knows that.

I wrote that as a joke, but it’s actually kinda true. And the worst thing is it works - I’d totally buy a Mini Pro just for the shiny steel frame :D
