Am I the only one who thinks xrOS sounds clunky AF? I realize it's not that different from tvOS but at least "TV" is an everyday word that flows off the tongue. xr does not.

Reality sounded fake like something from VR, Extended Reality sounds more realistic!

As someone learning to program for Apple devices, I'm curious about making apps for this, but I doubt I could justify spending $3k on something I don't know if I'll be able to use.
Rumor has it that apps for iPad, etc, can work on it

How cool to support an iPhone from 2018 with its own operation system! Google would never

xrOS will have an iOS-like interface that will feel immediately familiar to Apple users as it will resemble the look of the iPhone and iPad. There will be a Home screen with app icons that can be rearranged, as well as customizable widgets.

This is already drives me mad on AppleTV using a remote control. I cannot imagine doing it precise enough with my own hands on a floating "screen" unless you are a doctor.
Then use a keyboard and mouse, as has been rumored you’ll be able to do for years.

I am all up for options but I never understood the issue with the grid icons. I would still but them on a grid if I was given the choice. I would never want them sparse on the display, few here and few there. Would look messy and disorganized for me.

Well for a phone it makes sense, the issue is apple forcing them to snap up to the top left giving us no way to put them in the bottom or out if the way of part of a wallpaper we want to see. On my Android phone I have 5 icons in the dock, and 3 above that along with a folder, so most of the screen is uncluttered and you can see my wallpaper, and looks so much better.

It’s such a quick and easy fix, I think the first blank icon tweak for jailbroken iPhones was written up by a 12 year old in 35 seconds back in 2008, a million years later we still can’t do this and the homescreen is the same as it was in iPhoneOS 1.

A word mark in the USPTO is for the actual word or words in the trademark, without a claim to a particular font, style, size, color, etc.

This reminds me of that season of Digimon called "Digimon Xros Wars", where "Xros" was pronounced "cross", so unfortunately that's how I'm always going to read it.

Something tells me "xrOS" is going to be "iOS-based"...

I think you’re right about that given one of the most common uses of VR right now. Not that using the E instead of the X for extended would have helped…

Extended Reality Operating System = erOS
Agreed that something other than X would have helped. „er“ they may not have chosen because people would read “emergency room“ OS …

Eye movement & focus tracking technology is enough to let your eyes re-arrange the app icons. If it gets too messy, then to reset you simply roll your eyes … :)

Apple uses shell companies to register trademarks to keep product names private until the products are announced.

A strategy that has clearly failed in this case, apparently. Still doesn't answer the question of how we know Deep Dive LLC is Apple.
