Like you need a law to be "green".

Everything has to be political now. Obama was cool (even though he left a massive $20 TRILLION debt) and Trump is the bad guy because he doesn't want to start WW3 with Russia and used pubes for hair transplant.
Obama added 8 trillion to debt, 6 trillion of the 20 came from the bush (plus a recession that we had to borrow money to address).

Oil isn't going anywhere anytime soon. The hypocrisy of these companies is amazing. Without oil and petrochemicals, their business lines would cease to exist in no time. Oil is used in everything from the mining of raw materials, to manufacturing and processing of their products to shipping. And this whole thing about using renewables is just virtue signalling. Their efforts will have zero impact on global warming, or climate change, or whatever they call it these days. The climate has been changing since the dawn of time and it's ludicrous to think humans have any impact on it. CO2 is plant food, not pollution. I'm all for clean air, water and land, but this green religion called climate change is nothing but a sham.

The climate has been changing at a far, far higher rate than it ever has before. The fact that CO2 is a greenhouse gas is a fact of fundamental physics. And the huge increases in atmospheric CO2 and other greenhouse gases are forcing global temperatures to rise (in most places), and increases in extreme weather (very hot / cold / wet / dry). These are things that we have literally and unambiguously observed. Extensive research has proved beyond all reasonable doubt that: (a) humans are responsible for the huge increases in atmospheric greenhouse gases in the past 200 years, and (b) that these gases are driving climate change.

I'm sorry if you have been lied to, or if you find it convenient to wilfully disbelieve the scientific consensus. But that doesn't make the threat of climate change any less real.

Humans have MUCH less of an impact than you people are giving us *credit* for. Not even close. So you expect us to live in cardboard boxes by candle-light just so hundreds of years from now maybe it will make a difference? Nope. Not interested.

Climate change is simply a ploy to grab cash and power from people to give it to others. Its an agenda. Period. Get off my back.

Nobody wants you to live in a cardboard box. Don't be a drama queen. It's the president that wants us to move back in time, back to the coal era. But instead, we need to move forward. And urgently switch to clean power.

If you think climate change is a ploy, it's because you're listening to the wrong people (my guess, politicians). If you would bother to look at the science, understand how the climate works, what the greenhouse effect is, and what humans are doing to disturb it and how dangerous that is, maybe we can talk again. But now, you're just making wind without knowing or willing to understand the facts.

So assuming others don't follow, their competitors products can be made cheaper putting Apple at a higher cost disadvantage.

I'm a climate scientist. If you don't believe what me and my colleagues have been warning about for 20+ years, that's fine. But if policy makers or the president don't want to believe it because it doesn't fit their agenda, we do have a problem. Science is not political. It's just science. Facts.
I can't believe your great post has fewer likes than the ramblings of a non-scientist. Then again America elected Donald Trump so...

No. I don't need a climate scientist to tell me that winters and summers have gradually changed, I can see that myself. Also whilst I’m not calling you a liar, climate scientists are capable of lying just like the rest of us. Just because a group of you say it is so, doesn't mean it is. Research is a funny thing and often times those funding it often push for particular results so the result is not objective and all encompassing.

Of course, scientists can lie just like anybody else. And independent science is crucial to be credible. But we still have something called the scientific process that forces scientists to back their claims (something politicians don't do) and they are called out when their claims are incorrect. Scientists work independently of each other and verify or refute each others research all the time. And guess what: it's all pointing in the same direction. The current changes cannot be explained by natural causes alone. There is human factor. Period.

The problem is that we, scientists are passed that point. We don't discuss this even more. It's a given. But somehow, society hasn't followed us. And that's a huge issue. And I'm not sure how we can address this, but we are loosing valuable time while figuring this out.

I understand the science and how much scientists don't know. Thinking otherwise would mean there are no more scientific discoveries. A good question would be how accurate are the models in predicting the future? I haven't seen any that hold up very long.

If the US were to stop all CO2 emissions, how much would the temperature decline?

In the mean time, other countries that have a higher CO2 impact continue to improve their economy while ours declines with the higher costs.

"Apple Reiterates Commitment to Obama Era Climate Pledge"

Really? Then make headless Macs and displays. A Mac may last for seven years, but a display lasts more than 20 years. All-in-One Macs like iMac are a waste and environmental aggression!

Additionally, make Macs updatable, including RAM, SSD, GPU and microprocessor. Stop using them soldered or proprietary connectors and proprietary form factors. And stop selling the very same update for two to tree times its market price.

I do not get me wrong. I love the Mac, but some Apple practices are unfair.

And who are YOU listening to? The same scientists that fudged temperature numbers to make their "findings" more tangible? Yeah, right.

To reach those conclusions you must be a scientist and your research has led you to those conclusions. Could you please list a short summary of your peer-reviewed research and papers, credentials, and university degrees? Thank you.

This! Yes, the climate is changing but to link human activity to it is not only arrogant but ignorant as well... and knock it off with the "scientific fact" crap. News flash: There is no scientific fact, only consensus. Just because you all agree doesn't make it so. For quite a while you guys thought that we should be in an ice age right now. Just stop with your condescending and arrogant attitude to those who see right through you.

I don't share your idealistic view. Scientists are paid by organisations that have an agenda. Climate scientists are paid by politicians mainly. Then, scientists have their own agenda too: They need money to live and sufficient papers written to keep the money flowing in.

It's not a very scientific statement to say that science is just facts.

At one point in time all humanity thought the world was flat, Some still do, Doesn't make it an all encompassing truth.

I'm shocked that attitude towards climate change is even considered "political". We know climate change is happening. We know oil is finite and will run out in the next 200 years or so. America could be generations ahead of the curve if it seriously invested in renewable energy.
"We" know climate change is happening. But the US government knows it's a Chinese hoax, and that's the truth.

So, you think smoking doesn't cause cancer?

Sorry. No it's not. The issue here is that our tiny human brains cannot fully understand a global phenomenon, nor process the change over time in a meaningful way. It's very easy to look around and say "well climate change isn't happening!" when you don't see massive coral reef die-offs or the collapse of agriculture in Syria leading to a civil war.

Even if our impact was minimal, as you suggested, it's still the best policy to work to reduce emissions. Nothing good comes from pollution.
